Its probably just because they can if WH wants Tammy Abraham + they dont want him to go somewhere else when he will demand less of Chelsea.

Abit like Werner and Havertz that probably you could argue logically werent their best position to strengthen in.
Yeah, that makes sense, sort of like Lingard and us. If anything, Rice coming to Chelsea will not really harm them. He'll offer additional depth in the midfield, and he can adequately play in Chelsea's back 3 in place of one of Rüdiger or the RCB.

We’re all open to selling Martial. And I’m sure we’d tempt that PES regen with a lot of money. No fecking doubt about it!

How in the name of cnut can’t the bald weasel write for the times? I wouldn’t fecking give birth to that bowling ball if the whole of life on earth depended on it.

Before I post more Tweets...

Rice to Chelsea has been playing in my head for a bit. I don't see how that makes sense. He doesn't offer anything that Kanté doesn't, so he's not coming in to be a first XI regular. My guess is that he's being seen as additional depth in case Kanté's unavailable or they require more solidity in the midfield. I don't see him partnering Kanté on many occasions or even playing ahead of him when he's fit. He doesn't have the passing that Jorginho and Kovacic can offer, and I don't see him positioning himself as well as those two when Chelsea are on the ball.
He's a type of defensive midfielder who can slot in as emergency CB. It enables the manager freedom to change the team shape within the game without using a sub. Jorginho and Kante even when they played as the deepest midfielder, they are not the type to drop into CB position. They can't keep play Azpillicueta as side CB in 3 at the back forever. He can cross, but he is not attacking full back if they need to switch thing up, nor he's reliable enough in 2 CB system, nor he can be used in midfield.

Martial isn't property to be traded or sold at the owners' discretion. I seriously doubt he'd want to join a club that just lost its best player and will probably end up struggling for European places for the next few seasons.

Then he can not play. The guy has had massive opportunities here and is what, two years younger than Kane. His only use is as a makeweight for a future transfer.

After the season he had, Im sure he knows he wont be high on the list for starting positions next season at United

But that's exactly what he is!

Football players are commodities to be transferred at the will of the contract owner. A player has a way of forcing a move (we may well see it with Kane) So quite rightly, a club has its own way of nudging a player in a certain direction, usually involving large sums of money (Di maria/Sanchez were both rumoured to favour moves other than United before they signed for big bucks)

That's not how it works, it's the players choice to sign a contract with a new club. If Martial doesn't want Spurs, he'll not go there.

But it can/does also work like that. I already gave two examples and there are hundreds more. It usually doesn't end well but that's another issue.

We don't know that Tony wouldn't go there either, it's all just conjecture

There's no indication Ole has given up on him like most people on here, he was starting games right before his injury.

The signs have been there for years that Ole wants a striker upgrade on Martial. I don't think he's ever been that convinced, Martial isn't the type of striker he wants I believe.

Ole will give Martial a chance to prove himself again. Surely it's not that hard to see that's what will happen

I agree the it will happen given Ole's ways of managing players, but next season Ole is expected to challenge and he would be taking huge risk in giving Martial another chance, if Martial fails to deliver goals & performances next season, it would be on Ole.

This is obviously the most likely outcome as I can't see many people desperate to buy Martial this summer, but we'd do a deal for him + money for Kane or say Haaland without a seconds hesitation.
A lot of teams will go out of their way to buy Martial

Except always wanting to sign a stiker. He was starting games as we didn't have an alternative, Cavani started ahead of him before his injury

He heard Arsenal and didn't fancy it.

Wijnaldum pretty much guarantees an exit here.

EDIT: Klopp quotes
