Hes 28, has over a decade of first team football under his belt and has scored a grand total of 68 goals. What planet is he living on thinking he‘s good enough for a top team?
To be fair he managed to join United. But he was never given a chance by Moyes because he was dating Moyes' daughter.

The Chelsea Board (Roman) passed on Rice when Lampard wanted him. I don’t think Tuchel is pushing for Rice, regardless of what Matt writes. Matt is pretty connected to the club, but he gets it wrong at times.

It's probably from Rice's agent to create an illusion of competition for his signature.

Maybe they see an opportunity now with a possible player swap or that they've already given Lampard enough players? I don't know

He's supposedly a Chelsea fan and desperate to play for them so I think if they want him we should move on and look at cheaper alternatives like Koopmeiners etc

Well, maybe they will stop and think if the next guy wants him too. Between them, Lampard and Tuchel knows what the demands are for a midfielder.

That being said, Chelsea have Gilmour and Gallagher on top of Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic. A central midfielder is probably not a priority.

Wasn’t the story put about that one of the reasons for Chelsea falling out with Lampard was that he wouldn’t stop going on about Declan Rice and they felt buying him back for massive money having let him go on a free would make them look daft?
Yep, forgot about that. Makes this even more ridculous.

I can just imagine them all sat in a room, staring frostily across the oversized boardroom table at him. “You're always going on about Declan Rice. Let it go, Frank, you're never going to meet him”.
"What about this lad Tamori in Italy? 50m should do the trick"

Thats no good, but I guess they can forget about Lingard then. Would they go 4-4-2 with Tammy and Abraham up top?

Declan would probably ask for minimum wages to join them...

Quite a pairing.

Chelsea are spending like a drunken sailor at the last port before sea ever since their transfer ban lifted. I reckon they’ll go after all three of sancho, Harland and rice this summer along with a young center back.

Reminded me of that infamous chant about Andy Goram.

Not really, last summer was a bit of an anomaly as they had 2x summer budget + Hazard money to spend. I don’t think we’ll see them or anyone else spend anything near the £250-300m it would take to land those 3.

Part of the Hazard money was already spent on Pulisic but Roman realizes the squad us aging and he needs to replenish now. Plus he looks more determined than ever to return Chelsea to dominance over the past year or so.

Rice to Chelsea has been playing in my head for a bit. I don't see how that makes sense. He doesn't offer anything that Kanté doesn't, so he's not coming in to be a first XI regular. My guess is that he's being seen as additional depth in case Kanté's unavailable or they require more solidity in the midfield. I don't see him partnering Kanté on many occasions or even playing ahead of him when he's fit. He doesn't have the passing that Jorginho and Kovacic can offer, and I don't see him positioning himself as well as those two when Chelsea are on the ball.

Its probably just because they can if WH wants Tammy Abraham + they dont want him to go somewhere else when he will demand less of Chelsea.

Abit like Werner and Havertz that probably you could argue logically werent their best position to strengthen in.
