Partey a cracking signing for Arsenal, I think they are quite lucky that the Champions League clubs seem stacked in the CM area as in another market most teams would be in for him at that price.
Would they? He's not an all action midfielder like Pogba/De Bruyne and they're the only midfielders that go for big money. Otherwise the largest fees are reserved for attackers.

In what world is Pogba all action? He looks like he can barely get out of bed

Let Romero leave on loan and Everton paying all of his his wages. Why do we have to insist on a permanent deal baffles me

I was going to say he looks unfit, but then if he's going to work out at the intensity he played football yesterday, it's going to take the lad 10 years to get fit.

In 264 appearances as a professional keeper, the guy has kept 120 clean sheets and only conceded 234 goals. That's 0.89 goals a game which is better than De Gea, Allison or Schmeichel who would be considered 3 of the best keepers in the league.

Incredible he's managed to pull the wool over everyones eyes for so long. Fecker is wasted as a keeper - he should've been a magician.

Couldn't get past you though.

He has been second choice for most of his European career though. 20 league games in 9 years

I would say Partey is more all action than people realise. He’s excellent at transitioning teams from defence to attack with his positional play , passing and dribbling. Bit of a weird thing to say but sort of player England are crying out for.

Didn’t he play quite a lot for Argentina national team? Including the World Cup final

52. This season has barely started.

I get your point but the guy has also been to a World Cup final in that time and has been rock steady whenever called upon. He's at least 4 times better than Pickford.

Is Partey just not as good as people think? €45 million seems very cheap for only Arsenal to be in for him.
I think we're in a similar situation than Aubameyang. Good player but other clubs are not in a dire need for him. I was sure Chelsea was going to hijack the deal and drop those 45M as soon as Rice was a dead deal. We'll see if he's worth it.
They could have done it a month ago. Wasted time for no reason
How are Arsenal suddenly finding the money?!
I think we had a budget and Partey locked up 45M of it from the beginning and the whole play was to manage to fit Aouar's transfer in that global budget. Lyon did not bulge and now we're just executing the easy part of the window. Does not excuse the fact we had absolutely no alternative as a creative midifielder and decided it was him or nobody when we are in a dire situation. It's not done yet but that would be a good effort and a late save to the window if we end up with Gabriel/Willian/Partey, 3 first team players.

Yet got dropped by sampdoria and was back up at Monaco? He’s not as good as we think. Better than Pickford but who isn’t

It’s fine, we have Rice and Dier

I hope they are those ridiculous, never going to achieve add ons because €40m is ridiculous.

If one of the bonuses is triggered for 20 league goals, would you consider it ridiculous or want him to never achieve it?

Baffles me how we have left it to late when there are simple deals to be done.

Cavani - He's free. Easy deal, why are we doing it on the last day
Telles - Been haggling over £3.40 for about a month - just get it done
Sancho - The price was £120Mil. They gave us a deadline. It couldnt have been an easier deal. We waited until the last day and offered £90+, we look like fools
Smalling - He wants to go, We want him to go, Roma want him, he wants Roma. Whats so fecking hard about that? Oh wait - Woodward wants an extra 2mil and a bag of wotsits in the deal. Just get him sold!
Partey - One of the best DM's in the world. Has a release clause. We need a DM as Matic cant last a season and we are letting Arsenal have a free run.
Hauge - Outstanding young talent, who we scouted extensively. Didnt even make an enquiry - went to Milan for about 4Mil.

This could have been a huge transfer window that really started to shape the squad with some meaningful outgoings and incomings.

Incomings likely to be:
Donny
Cavani
Telles
Traore

We need desperately, a DM, CB and RW. What we are getting is a CM, LB, ST and a RW - but not until January.

We've only managed to offload Sanchez permanently too.

What a shambles

I would genuinely rather get Sarr than Dembele.
If we cant get Sancho over the line, Sarr is fine by me. Not sure what happens with Sancho then... do we go for him again? Or that's that..

I'll never understand people complaining about performance based add-ons. I want them all to be hit, because it means the players done bloody well for us.
It depends what those add-ons are to be honest.

There's a few hours left.

Can we pray for a miracle and hope we get permanent deals out the door for:
Jones, Rojo, Smalling & Lingard.

We cannot go another season with these dross players stinking the place out.

Amazed we aren't throwing money at a CB - we are desperate

You're not very good at managing your money, are you?

I know the new football manager is great isn't it!

I'd stay clear of Dembele. Guys never fit, he's unprofessional and it reeks of a poor signing.

Equally, i wouldn't sign Sarr for the figure being reported. He's not worth more than 20Mil.

Rather go without if there are the only options tbh

Unfortunately there was no intention of buying a DM when Matic signed that new deal,in regards to a CB we missed the boat on Upamecano not getting him before the release clause expired

You know what I mean someone who can make assists, score goals. Pogba might not be working out for you all the time, but thats the skillset he possesses. The closest comparison to Partey is Fabinho, whos younger and went for 40m. Thats the going rate for holding midfielders.

Absolutely right.

It's as though people think that the club are going to ask fans to fund these deals sometimes.. :nervous:

People whined a lot when Martial's deal had bonuses that took it over 50m as well.

Haha - clearly woody loves 18 year old potential superstars.. so much potential to gain financially like we did with Greenwood. The question is are they good enough

United management decision might be to by lots of cheap young talent and hope a few of them end up being top quality. But for every two or three that don't make the grade that still adds to a high price for the one that successeds.

I think that's that. He'll likely be unimpressed by the way all of this has gone, there's a good chance we won't have CL football next season and there'll be far more competition for him next summer.

We had a free run at him this time round and we fecked it

Does the link read alright?

From Italy:

Laxalt on loan from AC Milan to Celtic
AC Milan just seen a second bid rejected on both Ajer (Celtic) and Kabak (Schalke)
AC Milan pushing for Simakan from Strasbourg, agreed personal terms but bid is too low (8m euro + "significant bonuses", where Strasbourg want close to 20m euro)
Roma apparently having Rudiger (Chelsea) as a back up solution should Smalling not go through. Wouldnt Rudiger be more expensive, or perhaps Che would allow a dry loan or something?
AC Milan to sit down and negotiate permanent transfers for both Dalot and Brahim Diaz (Real Madrid) shortly after the window closes. Both currently joined on dry loans.

Cavani - He's free. Easy deal, why are we doing it on the last day
Saving two months worth of salary + not our first choice.

Telles - Been haggling over £3.40 for about a month - just get it done
If it was just £3.40 i think we would have got him a month ago, anybody could have helped with £3.40.

Sancho - The price was £120Mil. They gave us a deadline. It couldnt have been an easier deal. We waited until the last day and offered £90+, we look like fools
We don't, we were never ready to pay £120M and rightly so, nobody is worth that in this context.

Smalling - He wants to go, We want him to go, Roma want him, he wants Roma. Whats so fecking hard about that? Oh wait - Woodward wants an extra 2mil and a bag of wotsits in the deal. Just get him sold!
So, people moan about us not selling well but when we play hard ball, people moan as well ? damned of we do and damned if we don't.

Partey - One of the best DM's in the world. Has a release clause. We need a DM as Matic cant last a season and we are letting Arsenal have a free run.
Clearly not a priority.

Hauge - Outstanding young talent, who we scouted extensively. Didnt even make an enquiry - went to Milan for about 4Mil.
Did you see how many LW we have ?

....

Probably we have been impressed by Ole's coaching and mentorship of young attacking players. Leading us to follow this strategy.
