A journo could get information which is 15 mins old and in that 15 mins Barca could agree to the loan and message United or say no. Whatever. Point being is you never know who's got the most recent information

Our transfer 'strategy' in this window basically boils down to 3 reasons:
1. We have no money to buy players outright
2. We have done no due diligence so don't want to risk buying players that may fail
3. There are no long terms plans on keeping the manager hence don't want to commit to players that may need to be jettisoned.
Whichever way you look at it, just goes to confirm that that top down we are all over the place and its going to require a monumental turnaround to make us title challengers.
