There's just no talking to people like you. If suitable players were identified/avalable and willing to come then they would be signed. Can't you put 2+2 together?

So the club can do no wrong or make no mistakes in your book? You're delusional

Could have been a very good window if we’d have recruited a midfielder. As it turns out it’s a good one - genuine quality for the first 11. Too much doom and gloom here

Saw a stat on Reddit showing that Fulham had a higher net spend than us last summer, and Villa have a higher net spend than us this summer.

Which backfired for Fulham and I wouldn't be suprised it will mean Aston Villa goes down back again too. You don't buy a bunch of players and except them to form a team in couple of weeks time. We have a young team, and I'm sure a lot of players will improve this season. Lindelof was already sold if it depended on our fans a year ago. Glad we stood by him. I'm sure players such as Fred will up their game. I too wanted another CM but the hysterical reactions in here are completely over the top.

We're on course to spend a maximum of around £45m net. There was over a month in between the AWB and Maguire deal. We had time to plan this and no international competitions in our way.

It is completely reasonable for fans to expect more. It's actually mad to think that this is acceptable.
Net spend is bullshit though and we are the prime case in point. Selling overpriced deadwood will always see a club have a low net spend.

You don't think our incredibly vast scouting network were capable of finding a single defensive midfielder, creative midfielder, right winger or striker who was interested in playing for us?

You must be of the opinion that we have among the worst scouting networks in the world?

You're twisting my words. How is it the clubs fault if there is a lack of available players to come in and IMPROVE us? Not just to come in and be a body for £30-40 Million?

World class players want to play in the Champions League, we are not in the Champions League.

Chelsea have not strengthened, Arsenal are questionable. Spurs, City and Liverpool were always going to finish above us this year barring something dramatic happening.

This sort of mentality is the reason where we are at the moment. We have considerably overspent compared to the likes of Spurs and do not look like catching up with them anytime soon.

It is all great saying there is a rebuild but this rebuild has been going on since SAF retired and now we are in worse situation than at that point.

If we end up finishing 6th again, Woodward will sack Ole and bring someone else in and then we start again? This is why I feel Ole needed a couple more signings but unfortunately has not been backed.

Our transfers are done...the only thing I am looking forward to now is this thread reaching 1000 pages, the last 80 of which are going to be worth staying up for!

No it hasn't. It's been restarted multiple times after appointing multiple different managers.

I'm not twisting anything you said if they were available and they'd improve us that we'd have signed them. In other words the club always perform the correct action.

It's completely denying the possibility that there's players that would improve us available for a reasonable fee that we've either let go to other clubs or just not attempted to sign. If you believe that fine but it's a ridiculous thing to believe.

No surprise. Mandzukic doesn't have nearly enough Instagram followers and create nearly enough Twitter impressions for footballing imbecile Woodward to feign interest. This is the pathetic Perisic negotiations all over again.

Do you really want to pay 14 million quid for someone who is 33 has scored less than Lukaku over the last two seasons and will push your youngsters further from the first team? I was amazed you were linked, 5 years ago he’d have been a good buy but not now

Why wouldn't we have signed a player if they would have made us better for a reasonable fee? We've done it twice this window already.

World class players want to play in the Champions League, we are not in the Champions League.

Then the implication is that it's a completely binary situation? As in, the only players that would improve our MF or RW are established, world class players? If that's the case, we should sack our entire scouting network ASAP. What a ridiculous statement.

Can't say i'd want to pay £14m for him, as i think he's probably worth half of that!
Still, it'd have been nice to have a backup to Martial or Rashford without having to rely on Greenwood and possibly burning him out. Still, we gotta trust Ole knows what he's doing i suppose.

I'm all for giving Gomes, Chong and Greenwood a chance... but not at the expense of ruining our chances for a CL-spot...

What the feck are they smoking over there? We're outspent by Villa, and if we sell Rojo... then Brighton have spent more money

Thats his point. Without the proper investment come middle of the season/ end of season we will be looking at a slow rebuild again. We all know that if Oli finishes without champs football then he will get the sack.

So you know this slow rebuild thing absolute nonsense fed to fans to keep them quiet.

Problem is, we're really up against it to get back in there. We need Mctominay, Rashford, Martial, and Fred to completely transform in addition to the new signings improving us, Arsenal favourites for 4th.

Do people genuinely think that rebuilding a whole team can be done in one transfer window? Maybe I give this place too much credit for being sane and rational
Do you really think we won’t have more key departures next summer (Pogba at least) to deal with? You just think we’re going to keep everyone and keep this slow build going? Get your head out of it man.

Good dmc, 26mil. Shame that we don't need midfielder, especially dmc.

This is the annoying thing, getting good dm's aren't that hard to find for decent prices but our club make it seem like an impossible dream, watch wolves with a midfield of kessie, Mourinho and neves which combined cost less than fred destroy our midfield when we play them next, it's crazy to think a team that was only promoted last year has a midfield as good or maybe even better than ours.

Are there some sort of guidelines for rebuilding? Wouldn't it be more efficient to shorten the time for this rebuild? It'd be more beneficial to everyone involved if we got back to our old ways as quick as possible. Sadly, I don't think the owners really care.

We have no right winger. Not a single one. How can there be no one out there to improve us? Get off your high horse and do one with your bullshit.

What a surprise. I just hope the fans don't get on the youngsters backs if they fail to hit the ground running.

The club shouldn't be putting them into a situation where they have to perform, this is the biggest issue. Greenwood looks a special talent but he shouldn't be expected to perform every week. He's only 17. We don't have enough quality senior players to bed the youngsters in.

Why is it? It's not something that we need to be told by anyone as it's fairly logical that is what is going on. Look at our business, they retained DDG and signed Maguire and AWB. It's fairly obvious to anyone they they're building the team from the back first.

If this really is true then if Longstaff really was the one Ole really wants then buy him before the window closes even if its 40 million plus add ons leading up 50 million because we were probably willing to spend 25-30 million for him and if we are really getting 25 million for rojo that's like 15-20 million bonus money that we wouldn't have thought we would get to get him and his wages of our books.

Looks like it. I hope we get him as we are quite weak in the middle. If it doesn't happen right away, I think we will go in for him in the winter.

Lingard will play there and fit pretty will in Ole's system. He's not really the best player in the world but he's good at running/pressing.

The defence was obviously the priority and seemingly they want someone like Sancho who isn't available until next year.

Greenwood and Gomes get to look up to the model professionals we have like Rashy Lingz and Martial. Oh and Sanchez. Come season’s end the two of em will probably be pissed to play second fiddle to any of em, and we’ll put em both on 150k per week to nail em down.
