The amount of time it took to conclude the Dan James deal. Worried much?
Considering they have a supposed budget of 40m this summer, the timing of the cash flow is imperative.Well, with an obligation to buy it’s basically like selling him. Timing of cashflow just differs.
I wouldn’t be so pessimistic, as the window rolls on, opening gambit prices will come down. I think Bruno Fernandes is a good example of that. He’ll be leaving, but no way will it be for the 60-70m.Unless there is movement on a few deals this coming week, I would not be too confident of doing any more thereafter.
Plus, he seems like a leader. A tough guy who could bring grit to us.Lets fecking do it. Better than signing no one. Overpaying by at least 30m here but thats better than spunking 30-40m quid on a shite CB or worse going into the season with no new CB. Maguire is a class player not worth that much but he's still class.
Was done before but his dad dying held it up, understandably.
You cannot seriously think that? Surely.
I'm being slightly facetious. But Greenwood would have buried many of the chances given to Rom. With coaching and a year in the first team, I think he'll be a 20 goal a season player consistently.
Isn't it more that he hasn't settled so Milan probably just testing the water.
Heard that it was down to personal reasons, him not settling in England and preferring a return to Italy.
Thanks. Will be a problem for Arsenal if he does leave as his was one of the few settled positions in the team that they had.I believe it's because he and his girlfriend preferred living in Italy
The same person who thinks we should sell Shaw to buy Tierney. Now I know where to value your football opinions.I think because they're saying Manchester United should never have to sell to buy. But I'd sell Lukaku anyway and add his 75m to the current budget. Greenwood is already a better player.
Virgil is a much, much better player than Harry though. Not comparable.Said the same about VVD. Now let's just shut up about prices and buy some damn players.
Most of our deals are completed in JulyUnless there is movement on a few deals this coming week, I would not be too confident of doing any more thereafter.
in a one off situation, I'd take that for Lukaku but it would piss me off given the fees we're quoted for other players, some of whom are massively overpriced.
Guess that's what happens when you arse up a club for years #desperate
Is that it!?
Fecking hell. If we move at the speed of the last six weeks we’ll practically be United 18/19
Read the reports. It actually took 6 weeks to agree a fee. Woodward started with a 10 million bidHis Dad died.... then mourning/funeral.... then Wales matches.
Unfortunate circumstances and you'd have to be heartless to rush someone in that type of scenario.
you know we’re like the only team in the top 6 that have actually bought anyone yet? The flack Ed gets has no real bearing in reality.Read the reports. It actually took 6 weeks to agree a fee. Woodward started with a 10 million bid

Agree on that front just wanted to add that missing out on UCL regularly recently has compounded things even furtherPerhaps, but I still think you put a world class manager in charge for this current window and he's going to have way more pull than Ole, whose pull is non existent.

This is a point that doesn't make any sense. We finished over 30 points behind the Liverpool and City and since then our squad has become even weaker. They only need maybe one quality addition so can afford to take their time. We should have aimed for at least 4 signings this summer. So far we've got one and none of our other targets look particularly close to signing.you know we’re like the only team in the top 6 that have actually bought anyone yet? No, I do know we do, but tend to forget that the party on the otherside of the negotiating table knows this. We're also closer to signing another player in AWB. An area we've been moaning about improving all last season. Ed has many, many faults, but he's definitely getting more stuff done than any other club in the top 6 right now. No one else is dealing with the contract stand offs like with De Gea and the Lukaku and Pogba shenanigans either. Now you can potentially say this is chickens coming home to roost, with a series of prior decisions, but that's another argument. This is very true.
But on the other side, City and Liverpool are already very strong, and Tottenham just went a season without a buy and still comfortably got in the top 4, with a final.
So while you are correct, we have a lot more work to do.
That's just not rooted in reality though. We can't afford to spend money as laissez-faire as Real have done, as you'll no doubt cite them. Also as mentioned above, AWB will probably make the tour, IMHO. I just don't think we were ever going to have 4 signings done by June 23rd.This is a point that doesn't make any sense. Yeah, it's proper crunch time for Ed. Would not want to have his job right now! We're on a real crossroads right now.
In a month's time we might have signed no one else substantial, and lost Pogba and De Gea and look a right mess.
Or we might have made a couple of game changing signings, and convinced those two here is where it is at!
that's exactly what I meant, maybe not using the words that made it clear? How is that a one off situation, though?
If they undersell Lukaku, then all other clubs think they have a right to offer lesser amounts for other players. It’s a never ending cycle.
The cycle needs to be stopped and I can appreciate the club digging in now and setting firm asking prices. Either pay what we want for the player, or go away. It’s the same we face when we want to buy.
Yeah there’s no reason for them to sign him at all. I know they said they want two top talents for each position but they already have so much depth thereAbsolutely love this to be true but no way are City paying £80m for him and giving him 280k a week.
Hope we actually sign a CB.Good.
Good.
Which CB’s have we actually been linked to? Pretty funny how Ed is probably super happy to sign Harry yet we could have gotten him for cheaperHope we actually sign a CB.
