It's hard to tell - often when I see him his best moments are from that sort of a role but he can also pick a pass and carry the ball forward, interlink well with those around him further up the pitch.
Problem is Rafa is so fecking defensive with Newcastle that you always see midfielders doing dogged work by default!

Why does it take nearly five days from the rejection of the first bid, to then make another? You wouldn’t haggle at a market, get rejected, then come back a week later and submit a slightly improved offer.

I think he's a lot more than a slight upgrade personally. The price is daft though, very daft.
My only problem with this, is if we'll be willing to upgrade on him when we're in a better position.
The position the club is in at the moment isn't going to allow us to attract the MDL or Varane types, but if Maguire helps us get back to challenging, are we really going to dump him to upgrade to someone who gets us winning instead of challenging.
Leeds would almost certainly not sell to us but at £20m I'd rather sign this guy than Longstaff for 25 personally
