A brief from Palace to show their lot that they dug their heels in? Or a brief from United to show us lot that the fee was extortionate so we had to move on?

Hoping its the former.

I have no clue where it came from. Although i suspect if we bid £40 million and not gone back a month later. It will be Palace either alerting us to what we need to pay and also trying to say to other clubs, this is what we'll sell for... to try and get a bidding war going.

Confused at the hype over signing Maguire. Personally think he had a bang average WC last year and never really faced a challenge until the semi.....
Would be a step down in quality signing him over Koulibaly, De Ligt etc. Don't believe the hype would be anywhere near as high if he wasn't english.

Really don't think he's good enough to hold the back line for Man United.

The latest between FCB, De Ligt and Raiola. • The FCB will make one last attempt this week to convince the game • Planned contacts with Raiola • PSG, the best placed • Is complicated

• Havnen't really a clue • Just guessing

How much would Oblak cost?

€120m release clause, so not a penny less.

I'm not even sure if that's the updated release clause, it could be even higher.

Why not just a straight swap for DDG?

DDG gets to return to Madrid and CL football whilst Oblak gets to play for his boyhood club.

We should enquire about a straight swap. De Gea was the best in the world for a few years, but was poor last year. I think it's either he's on the decline or he's not interested at United anymore.

Either way - I think this is the summer we should let him go and Oblak would be the perfect replacement.

+£100m clause in his new contract. Somewhere around £130-50m IIRC. Don't think we have to pay the clause if he asked to leace.

If we sell DDG to PSG for £50-60m, then getting Oblak for £80-£100, would be ok.
Since he is not happy with the amount of players leaving Atletico and them not challenging for trophies, coming here makes little sense since we are even farther away from challenging.

De gea will be looking for a team challenging for the league/CL. And they arent going to meet his wage demands

It's 120 mill Euros or 107 million pounds.
We are not getting 60 million for DDG, 30-40 mill at most, so yeah a net of 65 - 70 mill, which isn't bad. And we will have to pay the clause, Atletico doesn't mess around when it comes to release clauses

My mistake. Thank you for the correction. I would take that deal in a heartbeat. The net of £60-£65m could be made by buying Atal or Meunier instead of AWB and going for Alderweireld/Ake or any other CB outside of EPL instead of Maguire(Should not spend £50m+ on AWB or £50m+ on Maguire anyways).

100%. I think he'd be an improvement, with De Gea (I think) likely on the decline from here on.

Never heard this United fan business before mind you, wonder where they've got that from.

How do you rate Kenny?
Does he have a future at Everton?

I think he’s good enough to be a squad player at least, yeah. We have Holgate too but I think our plan is to have him as CB cover. The Schalke move is interesting as it’s a big enough club that if he gets game time it could work out really well especially as Coleman will decline soon due to age. I think our plan is probably similar to what has happened with Baines/Digne where Baines was slowly eased out and Digne became no. 1 choice. We will probs sign another RB and slowly ease Coleman out and then within a year or so have Kenny to come back as cover and Coleman moving on from the club.
