I think the more likely explanation as to why he’s randomly coming out with it is because he’s making it up out of thin air.
Not only that, but Fernandes spent a while playing at 2 or 3 Italian clubs. It's not so far out of the realm of possibility that someone in Italy would have a source close to the player.

Our attack is a bigger problem than our central defense.

Even more so if we are trying to play attacking football.

A top cb might be final straw but a top attacker is essential.
We do need a CB who can play out from the back, with a good holding CM in front of them it'll free up Pogba (or whoever replaces him if he leaves) to roam more and allowing our attack to improve as a result. We're too defensive at times because we lack in defence so it has to be protected more, resulting in attackers and midfielders to drop further back.

There's something very classic United player about Van de Beek.

Can see him being a bit special for us if he signs.

He'd also suit spurs I'm sure, but I really hope we are in for him.

Really like him as well but he and Bruno are very similar. We’d need to buy a pure holder if we were in for both. And even so, I would be quite fearful of a Gerrard-Lampard level of effectiveness with the two of them on the pitch together.

Is it?
If I buy a car for £100, it makes that car worth £100, as that's how much I've paid for it.
Doesn't necessarily mean I'll get £100 worth of use out of it.
I could get more, I could get less.
Check the definition of value and you'll see I'm correct.
AWB is worth whatever we are willing to pay.

So if you pay £1 billion for him, that would make him worth £1 billion would it?

There is such a thing as under or over-paying for things, you know, in the real world. A car might objectively be worth £100, but the seller is your uncle, so you get it for £50 ... but you could sell it for £100, because that's its real market value. Or you could have more money than sense, and pay £200 for the same car ... but your over-paying by £100 does not somehow magically increase its real market value by £100.

Reddit claiming deal reached for Bruno Fernandes. Can someone check it out since I can't embed images, apparently it's a tier 1 source.

Edit: realized it was 11hrs ago and the source was Prota. Guess I'm late to the party.

Value is only applied by what one is willing to pay.
Value as a concept is a made up entity attributed to goods by what one thinks they are worth or what one believes people are willing to pay.
Hence if Woodward was willing to spend a billion on AWB then he is worth a billion.
I'm hoping we just stick to £50m or less to be honest.

You’re applying free market ideals far too generally. AWB isn’t a Corvette or a piece of real estate. And even so, if someone pays $300k for a car that has only ever sold for $100k at auction or the equivalent for a piece of real estate, it won’t necessarily set a precedent for similar items in the future. It will only set the value for that particular item at that particular time and place with that buyer in play. And most likely it will just set a precedent for how stupid said price was.

Ridiculous money if true. Has to be paid though. Liverpool were ridiculed on Van Dijk but the performances speak for themselves.

Not really. In your example you are living in a world in which only 3-4 corvettes or pieces of real estate are for sale. With conditions remaining mostly stable year from year

How so. There are how many fullbacks available this summer? That’s the point. The ridiculous price paid would be seen as an outlier due the vast history of significantly lower prices paid for similar if not identical items.

At most it should be 40 + add ons to 50 mil otherwise, piss off.

Not a tweet but apparently we’re “hijacking” Arsenal’s Saliba deal.

Not sure how that works when we were linked first?

I hope this happens. He's getting really good reviews and looks like he has a lot of potential. Comfortable in the ball, almost skillful even. Probably due to being an attacker when he came through the youth ranks.

I mentioned him in the De Ligt thread as I'd seen us linked to him, then heard a French journo raving about him on the radio. He's got the profile of a very shrewd signing for us.

And how many of those fullbacks are good enough for a big club? Not all fullbacks are corvettes

Furthermore: in this scenario you are trying to buy a corvette from a rich guy who doesn't really need the money and likes his corvette a lot. In fact, he'd probably prefer to not sell at all

Wouldn’t be at auction if it weren’t available and there wasn’t a demand for it. ;)

Let’s agree to disagree though before one of the mods zaps us from this thread.

4/5 articles in a 24 hour period. Someone has been on the brief.
A brief from Palace to show their lot that they dug their heels in? Or a brief from United to show us lot that the fee was extortionate so we had to move on?

Hoping its the former.

£50mil is alot for considering he's only had one good season, but we're desperate so we need to just grit our teeth and pay it.

Just pay the money, I think he will be worth it.

ffs, we just spent nearly £20M on a virtual nobody.
I love the new way we treat our players with sheer disrespect. Great fan base we've turned into

I might trust Spoofex more than the United YouTube fanclub

I’m not Howsons biggest fan but he certainly has connections at the club. Often he calls injuries and lineups accurately a week before BBC announces them.

I somewhat take this news seriously from
Howson albeit he hasn’t said much.

It was Sam Pilger (Times, FourFour2, Bleacher Report) saying United have stepped up their interest in Wan Bissaka. Found him to be reliable in the past. Not sure if he was adding anything to the existing 40 mil rejected reports. Will see if he reposts.

Edit: he did. Same story. 40 mil rejected. 60 mil will do the job. Also interested in Trippier and Meuneir but only if we can't get Wan Bissaka.

Just a copy and paste of what the proper papers said yesterday.
