Seems its James(15m), Maguire(60m), AWB(60m) and Fernandes(60m) for the summer. 195m spent and... Would you be happy?

No. We desperately need a RW.

Would only be happy if they were all great for us. That’s how Liverpool have worked their way up, layering one quality signing on top of another. If you’re asking is that enough for us to challenge again, certainly not.

I think this will be it. Add Sancho to that and it would be a great summer.

I think we’ll also get Rabiot on a free and Bale on loan. With those 6, yes.

Layering one after the other, summer after summer is the way.
I also think we are desperate for a RW. And I also agree Sancho is the RW for the future, but he's unattainable right now, so bringing Bale on a season loan, would be the way to go right now.
If we manage to bring Rabiot to replace Herrera, would also be great.

I'd be really happy with those 6, too.

Fernandes scores goals. But improving the foundations goes a long way to supporting the forwards already with us, keeping the pressure on the opponent and feeding the wingers more.

Also I'd add Rabiot on to that list. Hope he comes on a free. Would be a low risk option to suppliment the midfield.

We need a striker relying on Lukaku and Rashfird will get us nowhere

Lukaku I think can add value. I don't like how we have ruled him out. He normally nets around 20 a season and in his debut year with us he raked in 27 goals. He's a player we love to hate, but if he plays next season I have a feeling hel have a much better outing for us.

If we score the same number of goals as last season, but concede fewer, we'll get top four.

Last season, United scored 65 to Chelsea's 63 and Tottenham's 67. Barely anything in it.

But United conceded 54 to Chelsea's 39 and Tottenham's 39. That's where we lost CL football.

Put Maguire + AWB in the backline and I reckon we're conceding less than 30.

Three players that immediately improve the first team (don't know about James). Would potentially be our best transfer window post SAF if it happened.

We are not going to challenge for the title next season, we are miles behind. As you rightly say, Liverpool worked their way up, layering etc. This is exactly what we need to do ourselves. One transfer window won’t fix it. We need to strengthen progressively, challenge for top 4 and then get CL qualification to be able to attract better players to layer on top. Whether Ole or the Board can do that i’m not sure, but i’m pretty sure there is no quick fix to this mess whoever is in charge.

Every players We are linked with so far would improve us.

Speaks a lot about our current squad. But I hope We'll get De Ligt, it will change everything if He comes here. That We can still attract the best potential to join the club.

If we also got Rabiot i think that would be a very good summer.

Yes, we would probably still need a CDM and a RW, but everything can't be solved in one window. Matic was once one of the top CDM's in the league, and hopefully he can regain some form. I'd rather wait for Sancho for RW than buy someone else this window. We have players that can play there if needed.

Fernandes, if he comes, can be another goal scoring threat.

I also don't see problems with Maguire, he's been solid for Leicester for two seasons straight, one of the best in league, was outstanding in the World Cup last year. Not only is he a great defender but he's a threat in the box as well. As much as Koulibaly and ADL would be great signings, you are paying similar money for players who have not played in this league. Least with Maguire you got that premiership experience. I remember everyone laughing at Liverpool when they spent £75 million on Van Dijk, and look how he transformed them.

I think next season, we'll be looking at GK (replace De Gea), RW (Sancho), CDM (replace Matic) and a FW (Replace Lukaku).

Hasn't De Ligt already ruled us out? I had hope until I read the recent comments about our attempt to sign him, had failed, due to footballing reasons.

Seems like only Barca and Psg are in the market for the same players

He appears to have a reputation worth protecting.

If he's bullshitting, it'll be an utterly ridiculous hill to die on.

He also called out another user claiming he was just using Abola as a source

Whatever the provenance of his information, I believe that he believes it. And there's enough evidence to suggest that his sources are worth listening to.

Time will tell.

If that is all we sign, we're most certainly running the diamond we saw last year. Only question is who plays next to Pogba in the other CM role

I know this will be an unpopular opinion..

I have a lot of time for Howson. I don't think he'd throw a tweet like that out if it was baseless.

EDIT - I'd add that he strongly insinuates that he has ties with Lingard and Rashford in particular. As well as some youth players. I personally believe he does have these ties.. and they're currently with Maguire on England duty.

Just because he can bump into them and take a selfie with them doesn't mean they or their entourage will give two shits about him, let alone share transfer news.

It would be a good first step and it will definitely improve on what we have. Although he probably need a right winger added into that list above as well. James is still raw I reckon. I’d take a Bale on loan if we cannot get anyone else.

Howfat is so incredibly greedy and shameless. I wonder how much he's going to charge for his "insider information" this time.

Nothing irks me more than "professional fans," and this guy and Goldbridge are the worst of the lot.

Howfat is mean

Goldbridge is the worst. I use Bleacher Report as an aggregate news source and they embed all his videos into the team feed. Absolutely embarrassing. His voice/expressions make it even more unbearable.

No UCL limits our options. That's the reality
I find this no UCL thing really lunatic. I mean the guy is not even 20, all he should be worried about is playing regularly and that's a certainty at united. I bet our wage offer is not bad either.

United are gonna be in the mix for top 4 next season, so i think he has a chance to create a legacy for himself if he join us and help us to reach the promise land again.

If he want to run after money in a shite league, I guess he is not the leader everyone think he is.

I think the concern over champions league makes plenty of sense. Champions league qualification is a decent barometer of how likely a team is to compete for major trophies. If a big club misses it one time, like Chelsea has on occasion, that's not a reason to worry, because a new coach and a decent summer transfer window can have them competing again.

United, on the other hand, have missed champions league frequently enough in recent years (and failed to really compete for the league) that players have reason to doubt what's happening behind the scenes at the club. If quick fixes were an option, the club would've done it already. For years, Liverpool missed out on top targets due to this.

Also, it's really hard to get a transfer from one elite club to another. Hazard has wanted to move to Madrid for a couple years, but Chelsea wouldn't let him go until they were certain they would lose him for free otherwise. De Gea is in a similar situation. Coutinho's problems are somewhat similar in that he is a good player, but is unlikely to find a team that's willing to meet Barcelona's asking price.

Wherever De Ligt goes, his fee and wages mean he is likely spending 4-6 years there. Even though he'll still be in his mid twenties, he is looking at spending about half of his remaining career at his next stop, regardless of how much he enjoys it. That's why making sure he's happy with how well the club is competing is so important. I think it's also why being so concerned over his wages makes little sense. Barca's offer is enough to set him up for life, but they'll certainly give him a nice raise if he plays well for his first year or so.

No, the last comments were about needing time to think clearly. If He wants Barca He'd be there now and French league isn't challenging and interesting enough for a young player like him who's hungry to develop. We'll get him no problemo :wenger:

Delighted to be honest, our back 4 is in my opinion our biggest issue and has been since Rio & Vidic left.

If we can’t get Sancho this year, have him as our number one target next year and considering loaning Bale for a year (whilst we wait on Jadon) and shipping out Lukaku & Sanchez.

As soon as a player mentions a requirement for his new club as wanting to win titles my hearts sinks.

That's ridiculous statement. It amounts to claiming that no club has ever paid a lot of money for a player who turned out to be not very good.
Is it?
If I buy a car for £100, it makes that car worth £100, as that's how much I've paid for it.
Doesn't necessarily mean I'll get £100 worth of use out of it.
I could get more, I could get less.
Check the definition of value and you'll see I'm correct.
AWB is worth whatever we are willing to pay.

Seems its James(15m), Maguire(60m), AWB(60m) and Fernandes(60m) for the summer. 195m spent and... Would you be happy?

Of course not. Our attack would still suck. We can't be so stupid to, again, ignore the RW position. James might have potential but he won't change mich immediately. Would have loved to see a striker incoming as well. Not sold on Rashford at number 9 at all.
Also Magquire would be such a dissapointing signing. I'd rather stick stick with what we have at CB and use the funds to strengthen our attack.

If Maguire is the only option at CB this summer then spend the money on an actual right winger instead and wait til next summer. It's not ideal but I think we'd regret spending a huge fee on him even though he's an upgrade on what we have.
