So I see we're still living in the clouds chasing players like Sancho who obviously won't leave while neglecting players like Brandt who would walk into our first team.

Journalists either no shite all or we are leaking stuff in preparation for another bad window and doing the at least we tried bit. Obviously super early but I doubt we pay big for any top player.

We have a tendency to drag out transfer discussions and eventually pull out. Obviously people will point out that it is still early on in the window, but look at how clubs like Dortmund wrap things up quickly and efficiently. For example, a transfer like Daniel James should be fairly easy and straightforward enough to be completed by now.

A little surprised Bayern didn't try to pick up Brandt. Usually they will take the best players away from their league and to their club

So this is either United saving face as Sancho doesn't want to move here for Europa league / turmoil or its posturing to try force Dortmund to lower their price (2 recent signings for the wings in Hazard and Brandt might mean they need to balance the books).

Otherwise i hope we're not balking at the price given his age and potential. 80 million isn't that much for a player of his potential abilities.

With this board they would say no to Sancho for 80£ mill and yes to Bale.

I hope we don't force Tuanzebe out of the club if we are buying this Stoke guy. The club seriously needs to give Axel a chance, such a talent that i don't want to see him blossom at another club but at ours

He is being bought for u23s

I imagine he will go straight into our U-23s. One to watch in 2-3 seasons.

Tuanzebe's time is (deservedly) far nearer.

Totally agree. Really want Tuanzebe to be in our first squad this year. Would rather get rid of Rojo and Jones.

The business done by Dortmund has been amazing! That's how you work in the transfer market but we're still dithering on Daniel James' fee. I just dont understand how, for a club in such dire need of fresh blood, we can be this lackadaisical.

Why would buying a 17 year old force Axel out?

This is utterly ridiculous - James, Longstaff and Collins. Lets hope not all of it is true. What the hell is the point of blooding youngsters when you've got nothing to integrate them into.
if that's all we sign, then that's a fair comment - I highly doubt it though.

Dortmund are on fire - Thorgan Hazard, Julian Brandt and Nico Schulz already. Three smart signings for a good fee and great quality.

Looks decent from his individual highlights of his debut. Always looking for long passes out of the back but also does some defending. The new Toby perhaps. But also tall and doesnt mind a header
Yeah looks very good for a 17 year old. Him an O'connor in the same team will get the Irish going on here!

Dont forget ryan sessegnon as well

Dortmund finished 2nd, United 6th. One isn't wasting time with young talents with a higher ceiling, the other..well

This Longstaff link is increasingly sounding like Newcastle or Longstaff’s agent. Either he wants a new deal or Newcastle want to sell. It’s all ‘Newcastle are expecting’.

Seems like an easy way out for Woodward! Ole and everything about this club just stinks at the moment! The way things are looking at present, we are going to spend close to 70m on unproven players on low wages who have only 40 games or so under their belt, and thats between them.
Looks like Ole is a yes man that has agreed to Woodward's demands on transfers. Don't you have to have a Jurgen Klopp to follow Liverpool's transfer strategy!
On top of this, De Gea will probably leave. It's all a shambles.

Hope his appointment happens very soon

And who do we replace him with? We cannot afford 100million on one player! Get him to lose weight and he will be the player he was at Everton. Though I have reservations on whether Solskjaer can even improve players!

United should look to adding some of the deadwood into these smaller deals.

Palace might take Jones or Bailly with a bit of cash for Bissaka?

If we sell Lukaku we can certainly afford 100m for one player. We should be looking at one Jovic or one the 50 or so French strikers that could easily improve our team.

The standards have fallen, that's for sure. We should be looking to purchase youngsters that are ready to make the next step - not Championship players who've never played in the Premier League. It's a huge gamble especially considering we're meant to have a few talented youngsters of our own. I don't mind Daniel James (i.e. signing one) but we're desperate for quality across all positions and it's hard to imagine players from Stoke, Swansea and Newcastle changing our fortunes. Moreover, there are a few quality young players around the continent who should be our priorities.

I guess we'll see what happens. On the other hand, unknown entities may turn out to surprise us all.

Are they not youngsters that are ready to make the next step? They're 17, 21, 21 respectively. As someone said in another thread, that potentially could only cost us 47m, in total, for 3 young players. The scouts would have also done their homework on these players, I am sure they will improve our squad. Who else are we getting should be the real question. These feel like supplemental signings.

Jovic will eventually go to Real for a lesser fee! It's the start of the window, so teams are going to be more reluctant
