I actually think they'd all be about the same price as Wolvesa are minted and Rice just signed a 6 year deal and is now an England International.

If the three of them end up costing the same, then there really should not be a question at all.
If we end up spending £60+ on either Rice or Neves when we could have gotten Rodri (assuming he is open for a move to OT) then we may as well give up.
Rice and Neves for the prices being quoted are not good deals compared to the number of other potential midfielder available.

No chance Neves goes for 60. I believe Pep/City were quoted 100m.

Haha, can easily see Woodward spunking out that sum for Neves. Personally i think City will go for Partey or Saul from Atletico. Neves is overrated and for £100m we could get Barella, Brandt, Pellegrini and the insane sign on fee Rabiot would demand.

Does not make sense for Atletico to set his clause at £60m when they see him as the long term replacement for Gabi, and when they bought him for £20m.

Do not know how reliable they are, but Marca is not often reliable.
I know Marca isn't very relable but they must be more reliable than a fan run website because it's at least a Madrid based paper.
But anyway it's not important as he's not moving this year as they just bought him

Rodri would slot right in at the base of the midfield and allow Ole to try different options in the second #8 slot, especially if Ander goes.

I thought his release clause was somewhere in the 35m Euro range ?

:nervous:

I’d like Rice but not at the prices banded about. I don’t think he offers much besides being good at tackling/intercepting and being a solid, if unspectacular, passer. For all the criticism Matic gets sometimes I think people underestimate his ability to hold on to the ball. He actually does (under Ole) push forward a bit and is very reliable in possession.

Bruno Fernandes I do want. Think he’s coming in to the purple patch of his career.

All out for Sancho and/or Felix for the forward positions though IMO. They are special.

I have no idea why Rice signed that new contract, hed have had a nice signing on bonus right about now...

Well from today’s words, West Ham will not hold him prisoner. It’s only right and loyal he shouldn’t try to screw them out of a fee. So far as they are fair when the time comes, fair play.

Takes me back to when Modric signed a 6 year deal at Spurs, based on a supposed gentleman’s agreement with Levy that he could leave for £40m or so, yet he was ‘held captive’ when Chelsea repeatedly made bids for him. That said, don’t see West Ham doing the same.

Didn't stop being so difficult with Payet though, he essentially had to go on strike to get his transfer after they slapped a ridiculous £100m price tag on him the season before.

Rice is exceptionally good at slowing the opposition down - for a team who has the ball a lot, he could work wonders in preventing the opposition from getting counter-attacks against you.

His positioning is also extremely good for someone his age. He would be a brilliant cover for Matic

Going again with Matic, Herrera (if he stays) and Pogba in midfield next season will be very underwhelming. I don’t rate McTominay and Fred looks decent at best.
We need a top class midfielder preferably a DM signed if we want to challenge for major trophies and not just top 4.

The circumstances were a bit different. He tried to force his way out mid-season for a start.

I know it was the Sun and nothing concrete just links. But would love if we were to buy English and get Rice, Sancho and Bissaka. For me, they are the three best of the new wave of young players, certainly the three best attainable not already at huge clubs, no disrespect to the teams they represent.
I know we would probably be looking at £170-200m which is a hell of a lot but it would be great to see our side squad being pretty much 50% English/British and virtually all young too.

Bailly, Valencia, Rojo, Darmian, Mata, Sanchez are all fairly obvious choices of players that could possibly be moved on to free up wages and incoming fees (there are other players personally I wouldnt mind being moved but Im not going to start that kind of debate) to add a quality centre back to our purchases as that is vital.

That really would be a great window though, we can but dream

Declan Rice is a player which may push us into top 4. But to be the best in Europe and title contenders......he is not the answer. He's a quicker version of Mctomminy

The issue with that, for me, is we would be a team of 20 year olds, with an inexperienced manager too, and the team won’t deliver for a few years, if it ever does.

Top talents though.

He’s far better than McTominay to be fair.

Declan Rice is one of the best young players in Europe currently and a good Fenian too. But it is too soon for a big move for him I feel.

I like him. I think I started a thread on before he signed a new contract with WH, and have kept an eye on him for a while. But he offers very little going forward. Too little for Man Utd.

Look like someone who could have become a world class defender.

Fali Ramadani, agent of Jovic and Pjanic, met this afternoon with the general manager of Real Madrid, José Ángel Sánchez, to talk about the Juventus midfielder and the Eintracht Frankfurt striker

Great defensive midfielders at many top clubs haven’t offered much going forward to be fair. If he doesn’t give the ball away and wins it back then I’d be fine with that.

"...Should their appeal against the decision fail and Hudson-Odoi not agree fresh terms, the club still intend to have him in the squad next season and run the risk of him leaving for a nominal compensation fee..."

"...Manchester United were previously interested in Alderweireld when Jose Mourinho was their manager, but under his successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are looking for a back-up centre-back rather than the first-choice stopper the 30 year-old would be..."

Fits with the other stores suggesting that we're no longer prioritising an expensive CB and that we've more generally shifted our focus to younger players.

This is the one. Offer him 125-150k/week and show him stats over homegrown and youth players at United, and their participation, compared to other interested parties.

Should be an easy sell. Rashford and Lingard tapping him up, and Ole turning on the charm

I’m very confident that we’ll sign Varane if given the opportunity.

:confused::confused: offer a rookie player that has not started a game in the premier a 120-150K salary...that must be the worst idea I've ever read in this forum...how much would Rashford ask? 350-400K? How much for Pogba? :nono:

You are talking about Chelsea. They are allergic to academy players.

Bar City he would had plenty gametime in the top6. In 6-10 placed teams a whole lot.

Tier 1 reliable - "Hazard, Pogba, a center back and a left back are the PRIORITIES of Real Madrid". He also adds that “Real Madrid is optimistic with the signings of Hazard and Pogba".
