Who are the realistic targets we should be chasing?

Pulisic, Milenkovic, that'd be a good start.

The real issue is, nothing over the past 5 odd years shows that we will sign Koulibaly, he's seemingly going to cost upwards of 80-100million, which wouldn't be so bad but then you factor in the fact he will be 28 when he joins us, makes it really quite unlikely, when have we ever indicated that we will pay so much money for someone about that age, never.

Pavard is another one with a release clause. 35m is fair for someone of his quality.
We also desperately need a right winger. We've had the worst right side defensively and offensively this season so far. Most attacks and shots conceding down that flank and least attacks and shots taken from the right. I hope Ole plans to atleast use Chong in some capacity until we someone because right now the play is just too lopsided.

While it’s not a transfer fee, our outlay for Sanchez’s contract will run to about £75m by the end of it, and he was 28 when we signed him.

Yes I know, what I meant is that if the news come from Di Marzio/Romano or any other Italian source, it’s going to be the net wage regardless if that is a transfer from Spain to Italy or from Colombia to Afghanistan
Meh, they tend to be hit and miss when it comes to reporting wages unless it's italian clubs signing the player. They've reported gross wages as net in the past. They've reported outright wrong numbers. Agents might not want to let the world know how much their player is getting paid afterall

But if a move for Koulibaly is ruled out then who could we go for in january? Had I been in charge then De Ligt would be my top priotity but I feel like it will be tough to get him even in the summer not to mention january. What other options are there? Kostas Manolas has a £32.4m buy out and personally I think he is quality but just like Bailly he has a very rash play style that could get him in trouble in the PL with how much faster it is. Then we have alternatives like Milenkovic who has potential but I can see Fiorentina demanding a mega fee and I'm not sure he would be worth that, he could turn out to be another Bailly.

Has a 35 million ish buy out clause as far as I remeber. Worth a punt I'd say, but really need to offload 3 of the current players in that area who've generally proven unreliable for numerous reasons.

Dunno how smart is not to buy at least a CB in January.

If we fail to make top4, we don't get CL and that has a big role to play in attracting good players next summer.

We got Pogba without champions league. United are always a major attraction to players. The Glazers have shown that they're prepared to allow the club to spend its money when they drop out of the top four.

How do Liverpool get so much for their junk?
If that was us we wouldn’t even get 1/2 that
Most likely it's actually something like £5m plus another £14 in objectives, and they're reporting it like that to look better. Not the first nor last time it would happen.

It’s actually £19m upfront rising to a potential £25m with addons, with a buy back clause. I am at a lost for words. It’s shit deals like this that put me off Howe at United. I thought they’d have learnt from the Ibe deal.

Whilst other clubs strengthen we get the usual agreeable type of bollocks leaked. Not wanting to overpay and waiting for the right targets are just meaningless phrases thrown out to set expectations.

Ole seemingly hasn't spoke to Woodward yet about transfers and we've not heard stories of bids turned down so we're clearly just writing the window off.

Our CL hopes are very likely dependent on getting a CB in sharpish but who needs the CL eh.

Barella is an absolute gem. I’d take him over Ndombele easily.

He will also likely be much cheaper, 40m pounds isnt much for him. Chelsea with Sarri and Juve was always the biggest threat of getting him, hope we are monitoring the situation. I rate him highly too.

Yea, he’s a player we should have looked at ahead of Fred for me. I’m sure if Ribalta has real influence here we would have gone for him. He has everything - can run and tackle, carry the ball/dribble, pass, and get the odd goal too. Think he’ll be a star at the right club.

Liverpool must have some compromising photos of Howe or something, can't believe they got so much money for two players who haven't proved anything yet.

Maybe just a sign of the general inflation in the market? I guess Bournemouth might argue that if Solanke starts banging in the goals he could be worth double that soon, but I just honestly don't see it happening with him.

We just don't seem to try hard enough these days.. that's how it looks going by these comments

Lets not forget These same players finished 2nd last season. What we have is definitely good enough to nab 4th place I think the club is right to hold off strenghting until the summer when we have a clearer picture of who's leading us into the future (new manager/director of football)

Fyi, Rabiot‘s salary is being reported as €10m p.a. with a €10m signing bonus. Both before taxes.

Pulisic is a Chelsea player and Milenkovic is highly unlikely to move in January which is exactly what the tweet you quoted was talking about.

Utd and City fighting over Nikola Milenkovic according to Corriere dello Sport.

City being interested doesn't make too much sense.

Wasn't the Mirror on the OP list last year ?
I'd say their independent stories are pretty good, you won't find anyone more reliable on Manchester City matters than Simon Mullock for example. On the other hand they also run endless stories sourced entirely from other, terrible outlets, and you can't always tell which is which from the tweets alone.
