German talents don't go abroad because they know they'll get opportunities at their clubs, no matter how big they are. For England besides United and Liverpool now, I don't think any big club can offer their youth players consistent playing time.

Spurs and Arsenal arent that bad either. It is mostly the oil clubs that are giving them almost zero opportunities.

Lukaku doesn't fit in a fluid style of play we showed.

He might get more goals but he'll stifle the interlinking too.

It is a situation like where Saf phased out Berbatov for Tevez and where he phased out Rvn for Saha as it suited team more. And how Klopp phased out BEnteke and Sturridge. Particularly BEnteke.
Think you got that the wrong way around buddy, Tevez lost his place in the team to Berba, not the other way around. And that was a huge mistake. As was replacing Ronaldo with Michael Owen and Valencia.

Lukaku will look like twice the player in a setup like yesterday, certain of it, it’s exactly the sort of football he thrives on. Hopefully his finishing improves.
I agree. I think he can perform in a new system and I want to give him the benefit of the doubt

I think we will spend if the right player becomes available but otherwise we will not, to be honest I'd be much happier trimming some of the fat in the squad, namely the likes of Jones, Rojo, Darmian, Valencia, Fellaini and so on, I think we should also move on from Young but he could be useful at least until the end of the season, then we should get rid. If we can get Pulisic or something though I'd do it now.

Yeah, Juve are a well run ship, they aren't going to let a talent like Dybala go unless someone is dropping £150M, no swaps. Just get the £60M for Lumpkaku and move on down the line with Rashford and Martial as the focus of the attack and add the right third man to them.
If those are the respective market values of the two players, then we simply shouldn't sell Lukaku. Dybala has 2 goals in Seria A this season (although he has 5 in Europe), so he's not exactly ripping it up this season either. So, it'd make little to no sense for us to take such a hit on Lukaku unless we simply felt he didn't fit our style. In that case, we should still look for a swap deal as Lukaku's market value is considerably greater than £60m (in the right system, e.g. for Belgium, he'll consistently score a goal a game).

Try sticking with facts if you wish to prove a point. Berba signed 2008, Tevez left the following year. So never got phased out by Tevez. Indeed the opposite happened. Much to the detriment of the team.
People are deluding themselves if they think Lukaku is leaving anytime soon.

Yeah got that wrong subconciously. Berbatov was phased out when we started playing Welbeck as the striker or Rooney upfront.

There was that season where he was top scorer and then next season he was phased out. So yeah point stands as with other examples.

I was actually going to mention this. Dybala has been big news for a long time, but as I don't watch Serie A football, but I looked at his stats this season, and for a side thats won every match, apart form one, a single draw, he's mustered up 2 goals in 1100 minutes, or a goal every 6 matches. On top of that he's averaging an assist every 12 matches

They might blackmail him; last I read they were refusing to loan him till he signed.
That's their MO. Rancid club.
Didn’t they do something similar to Solanke before he finally left? Maybe Musonda too, who was a top tier Belgian talent once upon a time.

Hudson-Odoi should definitely move on. His lack of game time is made all the more disappointing when you see just how abysmal Willian has been (is).

It's actually a really shocking indictment on Chelsea that they have won the FA Youth Cup for god knows how many years in a row yet none of their star players have developed into regular first team players! It seems bizarre that so much has been invested in youth there but they are never really given the break they require!

Was just thinking, we could really do with another donkey up front to go with the ones we've already got :wenger:

If that's what you think Solanke is, then you'll be in for a shock. Or maybe your remark is just PTSD from watching Benteke?

That's true. Though I remember a couple of Arsenal youth players also going to the BL lately, and ofcourse Reiss Nelson at Hoffenheim right now. Reiss Nelson is on loan so let's see how he does next season.

Don’t get me started on Benteke, although we’ve missed him since his injury funnily enough! We badly need a goalscorer though, Ings would have been perfect for us. Have seen a bit of Solanke and am unconvinced he’s the man to tuck away the chances we’re creating, hasn’t he only scored 1 goal playing alongside your attack?

He has just the one league goal. To be fair to him, he hasnt got too many chances. He's over 6 ft but he's nothing like Benteke. I'd go through his specific attributes, but it's christmas. All I can say is I wouldnt mind sending him on a 2 year loan type deal, wouldnt want us to lose him outright, if he's given chances at Palace he could turn out to have an impact like Zaha. Think theres a quality striker in there somewhere.

Solanke barely gets a chance at Liverpool. He only ever comes on with 10 mins left and then they just lump random balls into the box and expect him to score.

I said you guys should of got rid of Benteke in the summer, Sorloth needs to leave too not sure where you found that guy but he isn't the answer either.

Yeah, right... I'll reserve my hopes of FFP being enforced until I actually see any concrete action. So far it's only been another abbreviation.

Yeah he does he just needed bodies around him

I'd be surprised. Sarri loves him and he is unlikely to get a better deal elsewhere unless he fancies a move to China.

Wouldnt this be Higuains 3rd club in 1 calendar year?
No, because if he moves in January it'll be the start of a new calendar year. If you mean three clubs in one season then Higuain left Juventus before the season started so if he moves to Chelsea it'll only be his second club this season.

Unfortunately I can see him going from one FFP dodging club to another.

If he was to leave PSG, I think he’d be Real Madrid bound.

Would obviously love to see him at Man Utd!

A front three of Martial-Rashford-Mbappe would be absolutely sexy!

His contract runs out in the summer doesn't it? I think Luiz leaving could be more to do with the player wanting to go rather than the manager.

Neymar will be sold first before Mbappe. We are not getting him guys. Put all the eggs in Sancho basket.

I believe the article stated that Chelsea is only offering him a 1-year contract due to his age. If true, I could definitely understand if he wants a little more security than that.

Also, I think that's generally a smart policy for Chelsea, but luiz is only going to be 32 in April, which isn't that old for a cb. From what I've seen, he hasn't showed his age, either. Hes just never been a consistent defender.
