One of them will go for sure. I dont think they will sell both. They only have 3 CBs currently. So buying these two and they would have 4 with one of Hummels or Boateng going. Plus Pavard and Lucas can play as cover fullbacks.

Costa is significantly better at football than Jesse to be fair. Lingard needs to be upgraded in our first XI at some point before we take the next step (or two steps considering where we are now) as a team.

Jesse's a lot more reliable and Costa's better if played as left winger where his main job is just pumping in crossess, however if we are looking to build a front 3 that is fluid and interchanges and links up like we saw the other day, then Costa wont add much. I agree Lingard needs upgrading in that front 3, but by someone who actually thrives playing on the right, not a left footed crossing merchant who thrives on his natural side and barely scores any goals.

Bottom line for me though is that no one should be bought for the attack until the DOF comes in, CB is the only position I'd consider in January.

True, not only is Costa an underwhelming target, we should get a DOF in place before buying anymore players. Let Ole work with the players he has, and some of the youngsters and then see what we need.

I agree. We need to just see who's worth keeping and not between now and May and then let a proper DOF get our targets suited to the new manager. No use chipping into a transfer budget now with so much uncertainty and especially given that we have a number of clearly talented players.

So we go all in for a player who'd bankrupt the club to sign? He's not for sale, he's on a very long contract, City have him all tied up on a buy back.
I'd say club needs to look at signing players who are affordable and not follow the latest fanboy whims. Sancho is a very good young player, but not attainable for the next 2 seasons at least I'd say.

Well, given the clubs that would be in for them I find it hard to believe they would chose us. A player like Matthijs De Ligt is exactly what we need but I think they will both probably end up at Barca, the both of them play the way Barca wants to.

De Jong is the golden goose from what I can see. I’d put him alongside Sancho as players I’d most like us to sign.

I'd be going all in on De Ligt too if I had to choose between them both. He is a once in a generation type player. He is already one of the top defenders in Europe and at his age, that's scary. I watch him every week and it's scary how good this kid is.

Yeah Sancho would be some signing but we would probably have to shell out £90m. Had I been in Woodwards shoes I would have done absolutely everything in my way to get him. We have been missing a solid RW for ages now and he is exactly what we need.
