Forget the negative spin on it. Martial signing a new contract is good. Jose wanted him out because martial wanted out. if he stays, there is a role for him.

Unless he can play as a floating RW/#10 (like Lingard, Mata and Mkhitaryan), I don't see why he'd be considered a priority.

Its' not as though Jose would be unaware that Woodward was offering Martial a contract. What is stated is that Jose is not happy to keep Martial on, but Woodward has overruled him.

I think he'll be replacing ageing Matic as DLP between two B2B like Pogba and Fred. I don't think he would walk into the first team regularly next season at the start, then once he is settled, he will be regular. I think it will be Periera we are going to lose for Neves but all he needs to do is putting a lot of world-class performance, outperforming Neves in the league even if he gets 10 games or so in the league for us to reconsider getting Neves
There should have been big offers for Neves this summer. It was plain as day that his performances in the Championship weren’t limited to the level of competition he faced. Not getting in early this summer will result in his price further elevated next summer by the time a big team makes a move.
