Funny last year nobody wanted him here, yet this year after a good world cup everybody wants him? We later signed Sanchez who is a much better LEFT winger. Unless we are totally changing from 4-3-3 this wouldnt make any sense at all, and £50 again for someone touching 30 that has ALWAYS been good at the Euros or World CUps for Croatia and generally just good for his club, still doesnt make sense
Yeah, that's not true.

Hoping you've messed that up. Paying £40M plus Martial for Perisic would be ludicrous. £40M plus Perisic wouldn't happen either.
Well I said id want £40m, but yeah the plus Martial didn't make sense.

And yes agree we won't get £40m + Perisic for Martial, but we should.

Perisic is effective, but I think Martial will become a better player eventually.

Well Mourinho could finally get his Perisic fetish satiated as a LWB in this system.

I don’t understand the Perisic obsession. If we end up with Perisic and Sandro I’ll be so confused.

Adding Perisic and Maguire (although I rate him) would be a disappointing imo.

I don't think we (or anyone else) would get Godin for £20m, but he is the sort of CB I'd like to see at United, as far as buying early goes, well I was under the impression we would get ALL our business done early.
We should have turned around a dozen or so players (more leaving) this summer, as it stands it's two serious transfers (Fred and Blind) and two less so, Dalot as a gamble/long term investment ? and a keeper back-up to allow a loan move.

It’s his realise clause. So legally binding, pay it and he wishes to leave, that’s what he’d cost. But at 32 no idea how much longer he’d be top drawer for.

Has Perisic even played on the right? It doesn’t make any sense to me, the debate about his age and quality aside we already have 3 candidates for the left wing and next to no one suitable for the right.

Didn't want him last year, want him even less now. Year older and we've signed a far superior player for his position in Sanchez.

If perisic ends up playing on the left with sanchez on the right, it is surely proof that mourinho just never rated Martial. #wum #StillATruthbomb

Who would you like to see brought in for the LWB role?

Well I’m not even sure LWB would a regular position this season.

For LB I’d like a specialist such as Sandro or maybe Tierney (I hope the club also have other LB targets). Not that he was awful but I just think an upgrade on a 33 year old right footed winger is essential.

Well I am thinking if we try to utilize the 3-5-2 this season then a player that can operate as a LWB will be important, but Sandro can play as both LB and LWB so he'd be the ideal buy.

I reckon Alex Telles would cost significantly less than either Sandro or Perisic. He's younger than either player, a better crosser than either player and far, far better at set pieces than any player in our squad.

Get him in, flog Darmian, Rojo/Jones and Shaw, use Martial in a swap deal for a RW/CB and buy whichever of the RW/CB we failed to swap. I reckon we'd get away with a net spend of under £75m for the lot, for three top new players and a pile of deadwood out the door.

I'm not buying into the Perisic stories one bit. I'd take him but a player that Inter wanted north of 50m for last summer after a good world cup when we have since signed a player twice as good in his position just isn't happening.

Maguire stories I believe a little more but don't believe the fee is 65m. That's just the press being a bit mischievous and doing their usual United currency exchange rate.

Yeah, he has a relatively small release clause. The Blind fee added to a Jones and Darmian fee and we've probably broken even on that transfer.

It worries me the amount of people that can’t spell Maguire even though it’s on every tweet that’s posted.

Almost as bad as pundits called Daley Blind, Danny because of his father.

Perisic rumours are typical lazy journalists. Don't have a clue who we are after so go back to a player that was publicly chased by the manager.

Matt Law said we are interested in Willian, Willian said in 16/17 that we tried to get him but Chelsea didn't want to sell, Mourinho is an admirer. Willian is definitely on the list of targets as there are reliable reports that Chelsea are willing to sell.

I'd actually be pretty happy with Wilian. I genuinely don't get the pessimism regarding him. Great at set pieces, puts in a shift, gets on well with Jose and has quality. He may be a bit inconsistent when expecting individual brilliance but he can be an important team player and will really help the balance and his experience can help too.

Willian will actually get into double figures on the right wing. There has been a clear development in Willian in his late twenties, he used to be all grit and hard work, but has added an extra bit of quality on the ball which has seen him turn into a good player.

Mata on the other hand has had the opposite trajectory. He's gotten worse with age, his touch is still there, but he almost never takes risks with the ball and loves to slow down our attacks. The less said about Lingard on the right the better.

Sooner or later they will stop selling us players if we won’t sell them Martial.

Personally think people are buying too much into this 3-5-2 formation as we played it last night, probably due to the players available. As the press link us with Perisic people think we are spending £60m on a 29 year old left winger who used to play wing back and Maguire as he played in a back three for England.

I think from reading of things Shaw said of Mourinhos texts, the only left back we seemed to have been linked with majorly is Sandro, with no actual evidence and that Mourinho has been very happy with Ashley Young. I think we are not actually after a left back at all this summer, which wil drive a lot of people mad but personally I agree with. Ashley Young is more than likely in his last season and Luke Shaw too if he doesnt perform this season. Dalot and Mitchell are also able to play there and as of yet though probably not much longer Darmian and the worlds worst left back Rojo. We have already moved on one option in Blind and those last two may well move too. Cant see him moving on all the other options.
I think we are monitoring the situation, are there really any great left backs available even? If Shaw fails I would expect a move for a couple of left backs next summer such as Tierney. Mourinho probably is planning to move Darmian on and knows the only other real right back back up is Mensah (who isnt a ruddy right back anyway), hence the move for Dalot.
NO doubt we are trying to sign another centre back, wonder what the other position is a right winger or back up striker, I think wrongly in my opinion it is a back up striker. Wouldnt be surprised if our business is MaGuire and someone like Haaland.

Grant, Dalot, Maguire, Fred, Haaland......could prove a decent window if it is the case, but a lot of ifs and maybes and not a very exciting one on paper. Would plug a couple of holes and remember Mourinho weeks ago saying it wouldnt be a big window have some talented young players. Actually Pereira, Chong, Gomes, Mensah, Tuanzabe and Greenwood is a more exciting list than the transfers if comes true.

Sooner or later they will stop selling us players if we won’t sell them Martial.

Chelsea have a policy of selling players in their late twenties that ask for a move. They aren't an oil money club anymore, they have to balance the books because they don't have the commercial profile to buy without selling.

Actually in hindsight going back to he CL final. At that point there were optimistic hopes of us signing Sessegnon, Sandro, Aldeirweireld, Fred and Bale and moving on Shaw, Darmian, Blind, Rojo, Fellaini and the worry of Martial.

There is of course time for a lot of or similar things to those scenarios to happen. Also approaching a summer window most fans get overly optimistic of a transfer window, very few live up to those expectations.....but the thought of not getting Sessegnon and Martial moving on, not getting Bale or any other right winger, a new contract for Fellaini, all of our average centre backs still staying (and for others, not myself, pretty much the same full backs this season)........its not a good enough window. Last summer we needed a genuine quality class centre back, two central midfielders, a new right winger and a striker...not much changed as this summer we need a genuine quality centre back, a full back or two, a central midfielder, and a new right winger. Come the end of the window we may still need half of those and there are plenty of really good talents of all ages for most of those positions

Maybe I’m being naive but at £65m I can’t believe Leicester wouldn’t sell at that price and that the player wouldn’t want to come United.

Just because Leicester have money they’re still ultimately Leicester City. That’s why the likes of Everton and West Ham struggle to buy anyone.

They easily could - they have lots of money after selling Mahrez and Maguire has 4 years left of his contract. His value won't drop much in 12 months. If they decide to sell - it's probably because a) they wanna be fair to Maguire or b) Maguire hands in a transfer request and Leicester decides they dont want to keep an unhappy player.

If we are interested - I am pretty certain he will go to us. But I wouldnt rule out the possibility that Leicester tell Maguire : Stay with us for 1 more season and we will let you go - and he accepts it
