Did you actually read the posts you responded to? It's about the entire Glazer era. The situation was fairly simple, we spent when needed, we had a lot success on the transfer market which limited the amount of signings we made and make your net transfer reference irrelevant. As for your last post, of course we still tried to purchase players but again in isolation that's irrelevant to the net spend and the initial point about the Glazer era since money has always been there when needed. For example we signed RVP the year we missed on Hazard and for the same type of fee.
Think it's a signing personally. We're not done in the transfer market.
If we do end up paying around 70m for Willian, that pretty much ends the narrative of the board not backing Jose. Probably the biggest endorsement of him and sign that they believe in him to give that sort of money over for a player of Willian's profile, can't see many clubs doing that.

Very true. It's one of the first concrete signs the club are still trying to get some business done this transfer window and it comes at about the same time as a decent amount of (fairly reputable) reports that say we're in for a CB (be it Maguire / Alderweireld / Bonucci). At the same time people are also saying Barca are no longer interested in Willian so that could be it too. Whatever it is I expect it to be done in the final week of the window.

Highly doubt Zlatan would know our transfer dealings or that Jose would have leaked any info to him, unless he's talking about a short loan during the MLS off-season. I can't remember it ever happening with our transfers, ala Barca/Madrid.

You've got to think that Ibra is coming back on loan. I can't see Jose going into the season with one striker and it doesn't look like we'll be signing one.
Just the ones about him needing to play simpler than he did on Sunday evening. It's depresses me to think that we'll ruin another brave young exciting footballer like we did Herrera. Don't want to sound like I'm coming across all doom and gloom and to be honest, I'm not that bothered if we don't sign anyone else this summer if it meant we let the talented youngsters we have go out and actually express themselves.

I think he is happy to play anywhere. I thought he was superb in that role on Sunday and along with Sanchez, was our only player trying to make things happen. Then Jose comes out and says his performance was only ok but he needs to play simpler.
If we have ten players who only pass the ball sideways or backwards, we're going to rely on Sanchez, Lingard, Martial or Rashford to score solo goals or else a very frustrated and isolated Lukaku to nick a few off De Gea goal kicks.

It is not a risk at all since he would not cost a signing fee. So not a risk at all. He was still not fit it wasn't about coping... He came on and scored but then pulled up obviously because he was not 100% yet and was rushed back. The MLS is not a retirement league the US take their fitness seriously and have one of the best if not the best approach to sports science and fitness. The difference in leagues is not the physical aspect any more its more the technical aspects and experience and even that gap is closing down more and more.
To summarise he is back to full fitness now but this whole thing may be about another signing so its speculation at this point.
So the "links to the club" is actually your dad watching France and reckoning we should sign him.

This is a discussion forum and we're having a discussion. I've not intimated anywhere that Jose was unhappy with Pereira - only that I myself was disappointed that a player who wants to try things, to pass forwards and to take players on is being instructed by his manager to curb that side of his game and be more simple with the ball.
Our side is crying out for more creativity so I don't see why wanting to see a talent like Pereira express himself is wrong. I also shouldn't have to temper any criticism of negative coaching by including praise of his well recognised fondness for desire and attitude.
The over the top doom mongering on this site can be tedious at times. But not nearly so tedious as the sanctimonious point scoring of lazy happy clappers.
