Could they even afford Pogba? He would demand a larger fee than what they paid for Ronaldo and Juventus don't exactly have petrol dollars like PSG or City.

Nah, they couldn't afford his fee at the moment nor his wages combined with Ronaldo's wages I believe. It's as easy to shoot down this article as to write it. 'Player X wants to play with the best player in the world', well shit, I for one am shocked.

Seems like a lazy rumour. Ronaldo joins Juve so Pogba wants to go back? Why didn't he sign for Madrid in 2016 if he wanted to play with Cristiano? Just seems like the kind of garbage papers come out with.

I'm sure that Martial could potentially do well elsewhere but the fact is that Jose doesn't rate him and also he doesn't really fit into our system very well, so it would be a good move for him. I suspect we'll use the money to make Chelsea an offer they can't refuse for Willian.

I guess you could say the same about Pogba - we've seen how effective he was for France and before that for Juve, but again not suited to our system
José should make sure the system is suited to Pogba. Why pay top dollar for a player "that doesn't suit the system"? Pogba can be a beast when he's arsed and has the right players around him. He would thrive if we had a good RW.

I'm a huge Martial fan. But, this is a huge chance for him to cement his place for this season and if he's downed tools now, then he can feck off out of the club. We're Manchester United, he should be falling over himself to play for us.

Looking at the comments, Juve fans seem to think it's a load of BS.

There are very few clubs in the world who could afford the fee outlay and the salaries of Ronaldo and Pogba in one swoop, and I'd doubt that Juve are one of them. I don't even think United could pull it off. It would take some FFP sorcery from one of the oil-rich clubs to make it happen

Whilst I partly agree we were still winning the title or finishing a close second with little investment. Why would the Glazers invest more with those results?

So we don't end up with an ageing squad in need of massive overhaul. We should constantly be looking to upgrade or maintain our squad not let it wither away and then become desperate when shit hits the fan as it did.

At what point do fans stop peddling this stuff? When another billion is spent? At this point the glazers have spent enough money post-fergie to find the takeover of a small country. The fact that it’s been by and large misspent is down to the choices of the twats we’ve had as managers

I specifically said before Fergie left and shit hit the fan. From when the Glazers arrived and Fergie retired we had a lower net spend than Stoke, that's a fact. Yes our managers should ave invested the money better but it should never have gotten to the point were we needed such an overhaul if they hadn't saddled the club with debt. Madrid were off signing Ronaldo/Bale/Benzema while we were trotting out Cleverly in midfield, and people wonder why they've won 4 european cups in 5 years.

The club really lacks a DOF and a clear vision of how we want to play as a team. Hire a manager and a DOF that fits the vision and get more continuity. If the manager gets sacked the new manager coming in won’t have to change the whole squad.

The DOF idea is just an example of fans who think the grass is always greener, you do realise how many clubs around europe have a DOF and still completely butcher the transfer market? DOF provides nothing. A manager should be able to pick his own players then live/die by them.

Also the Glazer increased the wage budget almost immediately and when you put the amounts in context we spent a fair amount during the first 5-6 years after the takeover. The amounts spent on Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez, Hargreaves, Nani, Berbatov and even Carrick weren't small amounts at the time.

We had a lower net spend than stoke after they took over, that's not a fair amount when you're expected to compete with Madrid/Barca/Bayern/City/Chelsea.

If Maguire is that good why didn't we buy him last year when he was available for 16 million? It's not like he only developed his skills in the past 12 months. Horrible business if we pay 50-60 million for him now just because he had a few good World Cup games when he was a fraction of the price when Leicester bought him.

Because all top clubs are much more likely to target proven players over ones with potential? Maguire did well at Hull and was seen as a good signing for 16m but no top clubs wanted to take the risk, now he's played consistently well for a better side and looks capable of making the step up.

OK so that's Pogba and Martial gone, I expect the DDG to Madrid rumors to re surface any say now, maybe even today

Juve can buy him if They sell their stadium. Not only renaming it but actually selling it.

Not really bothered if Martial leaves, dude just looks like disinterested. Don't believe the Pogba rumors either. However our "rumored" targets are simply depressing. Going from improving our LB and going after Alderweireld to being interested in a completely useless Boateng and underwhelming Maguire just sucks. Young actually playing 50 games at LB is worse. Valencia is our captain. And we have no RW or backup striker if Lukaku goes down. I am actually melting down

"Sources have told ESPN FC that Mourinho sees Martial's disquiet as an opportunity to bring in another winger. He is interested in Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic and Willian at Chelsea.
Mourinho is keen to bring in a centre-back this summer and Maguire, Alderweireld and Bayern Munich's Jerome Boateng are all on the list."

We had great or World class players in almost every positions, we didn't had room for new shiny signings, Real Madrid have had a low net spend in the last years for the same reason. Also you are talking about a team that won the CL and went two CL finals.

Really don't see how that's good for Mourinho that the board are unwilling to sanction a sale. Kind of points to doubts regarding his management.

There's just such a good chance that whoever follows Jose could get more out of Martial than he is, but the lads looks so uninterested on the pitch, I can see why Jose wants rid.

Sell Martial abroad (not to Chelsea or Spurs) and use the money to buy a RW (Perisic over Willian any day) and a LB. Please.

Martial is not going to show anything in our system. The board are fecking up big time. If they were not going to back Mourinho they should have just sacked him. In a years time Martial will be worth even less. We are going to lose both Mourinho and Martial at this rate.

How reliable is Marca ? Didn’t they photoshop fans shirts to white when Manchester United played Real Madrid at the big house in michigan to make it seem Real had more fans?

I wouldn’t trust them based on that alone.

Maybe he shouldn't have made him unhappy by benching him while he was in great form due to purchasing a third player who plays in his position.

Certainly didn't predict that happening.

I had high hopes that he would make us better in the transfer market. Looks like we'll have to start fresh with a new Chief Scout.

I can't help but think his departure has something to do with the way this transfer window has gone though.

- 32+ year old full backs,
-injury prone CB's /no established defensive partnership
- Pogba rumours
- scouting agent leaving
-Maguire rumours
- Martial comments
- pre season without a full team

Probably missed a thing or two..

Not bad.. not bad at all..

Heard that scout has left due to a massive fight on tour where Mourinho got drunk after a training session and asked Ribalta to find him a 'tricky pacey fecking winger' and he just pointed at Martial.

The board did not have a problem with negotiating for Perisic and sanctioning the Sanchez move, but now they want to preserve Martial when the player himself wants to leave? What a joke.

If Martial stays I feel it will end very badly, in the short term anyway.

No disrespect but maybe you don't know much about Juve owners? :D

Malcom is a great talent. Good deal for Roma, im sure they’ll sell him in a year or two for 80-90m.

This preseason really isn’t going well is it?

Such a weird vibe from the club at the moment it’s bizarre. Anyway, hopefully we can make another signing or two and start well. That’s hope more than expectation at the moment though.

- 32+ year old full backs,

Their legs aren't going to fall off all of a sudden, both are far from the required standard but will do the job as the did last season. Plus we have youngsters in Dalot/Shaw still.

injury prone CB's /no established defensive partnership

Smalling has put his injury troubles behind him, there is no established partnership as of now but there is an opportunity for one of Bailly, Lindelof, Jones and Rojo to form one. Far from ideal but not exactly the worst situation given we have options.

Pogba rumours

Bollocks,

scouting agent leaving

None of us have the slightest clue as to what he did in the past year, and in case you missed it he got a promotion and a better wage packet at Zenit.

Maguire rumours

Again just rumors, none of the reputed journos have spoken anything about it. Looking at Simon Stone/Di Marzio.

Martial comments

Not a surprise, he was angling to leave last summer too. He doesn't have the stomach to fight for his place. A much inferior player in Young was able to bench Di Maria, Depay, Blind and Shaw. Mainly because he actually tried.

pre season without a full team

Every other side is in the same boat, plus there are still 4 pre-season games to go.

Probably missed a thing or two.. Not bad.. not bad at all..

Yes, you did. It's very easy to give things a twist to portray a different opinion like I just did.

As always, the reality is somewhere in the middle. Things aren't ideal going into the season but it's hardly as horrific like many of you are portraying.

Malcolm in two years maybe, will end up at Liverpool

Even if some of today's rumours are true, even about 30% of them, we are entering extremely worrying times. Could be the start of a downward spiral. Not a promising way to go itno the new season, on and off the field - our rivals will be pissing themselves right now, even if most of this is nonsense, it serves to stir up unrest and negativity at the club and in the stands.
