Well window isnt over but this seems to be one of three things, all of which we have seen before and either way not good:

1. We have over ambitous targets we are putting all our focus on and failing to land such as Bale and Toby of Spurs.....this has happened over several seasons, we spend too long without moving on to other targets. Seems amateurish
2. The board are failing to land targets. Woodward doesnt seem to have been great in negotiations lets be honest, we have failed on many and over paid on others we have landed, especially to agents such as Riola
3. Just like Conte last year, Mourinho is already getting his excuses in (rightly or wrongly). This is an especially concerning sign for the feared season of the Mourinho meltdown many including myself fear this year
We have bid 65 million for Alderweireld and Skriniar of I'm. Not wrong. Now we are looking at Mcguire?, so we are obviously looking at many players.

Maguire could turn out a good signing but to spend 60m+ on a guy who wouldn't instantly be our best defender doesn't sound smart.

Yet more 29 year olds for a manager who wont be here in 2 years. Great long term thinking from United while City pull ever further ahead and Liverpool look set to pass us with ease

Aguero - 30
Silva - 32
Fernandinho - 33
Kompany - 32
Otamendi - 30
Nolito - 31
Delph - 29 soon

City hasn't done too badly with some 'oldies' in their team.

With the advancements in science and medicine nowadays, 29 is not as old as many of us think in football.

This isn't a good sign is it. If it's true. Maybe he feels he's not being allowed the influence he'd like, which reflects most of our supposed transfer targets.

Maybe it’s a load of crap posted onto Twitter that some people just lap up and post on this forum...

You gotta have a speculation thread it would be boring otherwise.

Just don't believe everything. Maybe 2% of it.

It's not as if Zenit have that much money to chuck around based on his suggestions though.

I think people need to realise that this summer has been frustrating for everyone so far.

Liverpool have been the most active, but looking at it realistically they had already signed Keita last summer, there was no real competition for Fabinho, they paid through the roof to get a GK, and Shaqiri had a release clause.

Most of Luckhurt's article sounds like pure speculation. He's right about one thing though; the world cup has tripped everyone up, and it's compounded in the EPL because they decided to shorten the transfer window. Quite stupidly in hind sight.

City will benefit the most from this because they just went out and paid whatever was necessary last year. Any new addition, like Mahrez, is just the cherry on top.

Jose needs to get a lot more out of what he already has to even stand a chance this season.

Although I agree it is harder to do deals in a world cup year there is still little excuse. The board have been aware of this shorter window and world cup all season. Pure speculation of course and circumstances made it more difficut....but our supposed biggest target of Bale wasnt even involved in the world cup. There are also dozens of superb young talents around at the moment who have had no involvement in the world cup that could improve us.
West Ham, Liverpool, Arsenal, Monaco and Juventus off the top of my head have already made great strides in the transfer window.
In a window when we should have shipped out up to 8 players by now, so far we have only offloaded Blind, have a few players still even on the tour playing like Darmian and we have bought a replacement keeper for a youngster we wish to loan....still not out on loan.
There is off course plenty of time left in this window, but what has started off promising with a good central midfielder and a supposedly very promising full back seems to have ground to a halt. Who would have thought by the time the world cup started our only other business with three weeks left would be a 35 year old keeper and possibly a 16/17 year old Rochdale midfielder. It isnt lookign good at the moment

Possibly, but you could apply that logic to every single tweet? Should we just not discuss anything? Be a pretty pointless place wouldn't it.

Let's not hide behind that red herring. It is more to do with who the person is. Maybe you know this guy and trust him as a source. I for one have never seen or heard of him in anything related to Football or transfers but maybe you have. Do you think he's reliable because I think he looks like a complete BS artist? Give us a rundown of who he is and his connection to the clubs involved and his past history /accuracy in reporting on these matters?

Javier Ribalta prepared to leave United to join Zenit.

Could just as easily be allowed to leave as he hasn't done feck all in the time he's been here. Some nice examples of confirmation bias here!

Well not aware of any bid for Alderweireld and what the player has said since the world cup suggest we havent at all. Also no official evidence we ave bid for Skriniar either.....and McGuire rightly or wrongly is purely rumours at the moment

I'm simply discussing a tweet posted in this thread, it's kind of the idea of the thread. Pretty sure I included the words "if true" in the post as well, because like most tweets in here, it's probably bullshit. Why are you so aggressive? Just calm down mate.

Imagine believing everything that is written. feck me wise up

Its a forum and I'm discussing a story that was released by several sources at the same time. The link may not be true granted, but the fact that 4/5 different sources are linking us with Maguire points fingers, and if the Club are even thinking about paying £65m for him I would be concered. Wise the feck up yourself.

99.9999% of tweets are unreliable and not worthy of discussion. If your life is so full of time, then carry on...

Your jumping to assumptions. Why do you think what I said was aggressive? Just like tweets you are reading into things that are simply not there. I think you should calm down as I was just asking questions. You may know this guy or have some reasoning I have not thought about.

I was simply discussing the source of the tweet. It works both ways. I could ask why are you so negative?

Very reliable and expert italian journalist with deep connections with Juve, the first to pick up Neymar story last year and Ronaldo recently.

We could do a lot with him.

Vidal at this price would be good business for a couple of seasons. Pogba, Vidal, Fred, Matic, Pereira would be a really good rotation for our midfield.

This news and our interest in Boateng makes me really happy, in contrast with the news of Harry Maguire and stuff.

Vidal, Boateng and go all out for a winger. Would be hell of a window.
