He gave his shirt to a kid. It didn't look like a goodbye from where I was sat, think he just loves the club and the fans.

Yeah, it was a just an end of season thanking of the fans. People are quick to use anything they see to fill in the blanks.

But Bale is injury prone and plays on the left wing. We have enough options for the left wing as it is with Alexis, Rashford and Martial. We need someone for the right wing.

Bale has been playing as RW for the majority of the past half a decade. By a large margin.

That's the amount of matches he has played in respective positions for Real, in all competitions. You can view more details in the link I provided.

Bale would be great for us. Precisely the type of attacking player we need. But it's a high risk high reward situation because of his injury history. We'd have to sign Willian as cover. Not sure if Willian would accept this on paper, but in reality Willian could (and probably would) end up playing more minutes than Bale.

Koulibaly for 105 million?
Also for a guy his size, he is meh in the air

There's something weird going on there. Koulibaly is listed as 1.95m on Napoli's website, despite the fact that when you see them together, he is obviously shorter than Albiol (1.90m). Transfermarkt lists his actual height as 1.87m, which appears to be a much more accurate estimation.

Unsure mate, I was sat at the opposite end of the ground so couldn't see what was going on exactly, hence I asked if it had been discussed on here before as I doubt it would have been on TV.
Yeah he basically walked and applause the half of the SAF stand near the Stretford End and then the Stretford End, then gave his match shirt to a young fan and went down the tunnel. IIRC it was L'pool vs Brighton and Chelsea vs Newcastle shown on TV that day.

Whatever targets we have, we need to get the deals done very soon because countries are all having their friendlies at the start of June before the kick off to the campaign.

It appears we know who we want and it shouldn't be too much trouble to get them (bar Wilian) .

The improvement to the team relative to the transfer fee just isn’t worth it.

Alderweireld is better than our CBs but unless we have Manchester City level of spending to splurge out - rather than our recently large, but capped budget in the last few years we should be looking to spend big on the priority positions. Fullbacks, a central midfielder, and a right sided winger should all be before a CB.

Because our central defenders are so good?

A lot of the problems we have is down to our amazingly slow build up from the back. Apart from Lindelof, who has other issues, we don't have anyone who has a good passing range from the back and is confident on the ball under pressure. The CB position should be the main priority this summer, even though the other areas need improvement as well. Also, he is a vocal guy who organises the defence and has been for me one if not the best defender over the last 2-3 years in the PL, if fit. The fee is high, but he seems to be available and I can't see anyone out there who is on his level and would be on the move this window. I personally think sine people on here will be astonished, how a really good CB and LB would improve our attacking game overall.

What has Sarri done before he managed Napoli? He isn't exactly young and it seems weird that he has only become known very recently.
It's kind of a funny story: he used to be a banker but in his mid fourties decided he wanted to be a football manager. He started as low as where a club would hire a random bloke willing to coach, then climbed every step until where he is now.

i doubt Mourinho is looking to spend 55m on Alderweireld if it has any kind of negative effect on other transfers. I might be wrong but i don't see us having a collective budget. I think we have a per player budget. As in, we need a centreback and a centre mid. We will pay max 60m for CB and 80m for CM. Something along them lines. I just cant see Mourinho handing Woodward a list of targets in which money spent on a centreback could be detrimental to a deal for a centremid.
Perhaps, but his comments during the season a little earlier on were something like ‘we’ll only sign 3 players’... ‘we don’t have unlimited budget’ etc. Perhaps it was just posturing to keep player prices low[er] because since then some links have come out that we want 5 or 6 players. I’m just really wary of believing that - I think we’ll end up with a similar summer of 3 or maybe 4 players coming in and the fee will total somewhere in the region of £150m~.

Yes, our CBs are the reason we cannot attack as a cohesive unit and score goals against newly promoted teams.

The funny thing is, they really aren’t. There are better full-backs out there for sure, buth Ashley Young has been one of our best players this season. Valencia too has been ok, although he hasn’t provided enough attacking power. As a defender he has been more than ok. Our defensive unit is one of the best in the league, we had the most shut-outs didn’t we?

It seems like people think our attack will be revamped completely when we bring in new defenders, but trust me - it won’t!

I’m hoping we get some great players in, but I’m not expecting big differences.

You can't talk sense here bro. All our issues because of Smalling who can't pass the ball according to the cafe !! .... Put Baily and Toby Alderweireld then all our issues are solved (according to the cafe).

Defense is not our issue and its never been our real issue for the pas couple of seasons. We have one of the porous mid even after investing so much money. They cannot keep possession and loose it very cheaply. It doesn't matter who we are playing against our mid generally struggles most of the time . I missed the times when Carrick-Scholes could do a job to any side in the world !!

The less said about our attack is the better. There is no cohesion, no game plan, no coordination ,no movement and no energy. Just a bunch of individuals who are trying to make things works most of the time. The frightening thing is that I don't see that changing next season too ( doesn't matter who we bought ) !!

Vertout is garbage, Milan should definitely go for Fellaini instead. Give him anything he wants.

Please.

On the off-chance that the executives at Milan read these forums, I wholeheartedly agree. Fellaini is superb and you should pay whatever it takes to get him to Italy.

The best agreement has been reached with a club that talks a lot, but does different things than it talks about

Apparently it's Atletico. Will be a great player imo.

I'd show him the door. We're making too much effort to keep a player who clearly doesn't want to be here. There are better midfield options out there. Our final reminder of Moyes. Cheerio.

Clearly doesn't want to be here? So much so that he wants a deal lasting longer than 2 years..

This whole thing is not about money it is about the time we are offering him.

Our full backs are one of the major issues in our team. They are so one dimensional it's unreal. Fullbacks are one of the most Important areas in today's game. They can transfer a decent team into a quality team. Ours are not good enough.

Well we weren't this season either. It comes down to that old adagio where people are laughing because Sarri's won nothing, don't want Poch he's won nothing! Dont want this and that guy he's won nothing! You have to look at the context of the situations the managers are in. Bayern have just recruited Niko Kovac, who as a manager has won absolutely nothing in his career apart drom the Pokal he just won the other day. Yes Sarri will get Chelsea playing awesome football, no they might not be successful. But well we've done feck all this season as well whilst the majority of time playing like the plan is to suck out the enjoyment from every supporter watching the match.

Finishing above Chelsea Liverpool Spurs and Arsenal for a team who’s been out the champions league for quite a few of the last 4-5 years is not nothing buddy. We are Manchester United of 2018 not 2000 we have no right to be in it yet this season we are well in it.

Young have played well enough this season. But yeah fullbacks should be upgraded but lets not pretend they will solve most of our issues. The lack of cohesion between our attacking players and the porous mid are the bigger issues and sadly I cannot see that changing next season.

Looking forward to some proper transfer tweets from the journos like Di Marzio and others, instead of the usual tabloidy nonsense from aggregator sites.

I think he realises this will be his last payday, and is waiting for the longest and juiciest contract possible. He has no loyalty to us except he'll go to the club that offers him the most amount of money for the longest possible time.

It doesn't make sense offering a squad rotation player in his 30s a deal longer than a couple of years.

Ok I stand corrected, had him in my head as left winger, but left wing is the position he started in at Tottenham though isn't it ?

Still I'am not convinced he would be a good signing. So injurry prone.

According to @Carloalvino, Napoli and Ancelotti have a total agreement, both on technical and economic issues, although there isn't a contract yet. Ancelotti likes Napoli's current squad, and if a player will be sold, he'll be worthily replaced.
