Roma have been very active now that they aren't limited my FFP. I'm sure that run to the Semi's in the CL helped line their pockets as well mind you.

Loyalty lol.

Actually he is, but Roma isn’t. He wanted to stay, even today he replied to a fan asking him to stay saying that this move was a decision he was forced to make.

They decided to sell him because they got tired of his terrible lifestyle. Take him as a Vidal 2.0, both in and out of the pitch if you know what I mean.

Btw, the coach of Inter Milan is Spalletti, former Roma coach in seasons 2015/16 and 2016/17. He’s the one who turned Nainggolan into a top midfielder, so that would also explain why he chose to move to Inter among all teams.

@Bepi how good is this kid

Never made a breakthrough to become a regular at CB for Juve in 3 years but he is only 24 and CBs enter their prime at 27-28, so a transfer could help him blossom, jury is still out about his ceiling. Marotta getting a nice chunk of money to invest elesewhere and welcoming Caldara from Atalanta as a straight replacement, also 24yo and hopefully more convincing than Rugani.

Thanks for the reply.
Remember him being very highly rated a few years back when he was linked to us

He says no Savic. Lorenzo Pellegrini is mentioned, but only vague.

I don‘t know why another midfielder should come in, there are 4 midfielders who want a starting spot plus Lingard, McTominay and Pereira. I didn‘t count Fellaini.

Ya I was too lazy to read earlier my apologies  what is Pellegrini like? Never seen him play.

We should prioritise getting a right winger and left back, as we clearly need improvement there. After that we should look at another midfielder and centre back. They’re more of a bonus rather than an absolute necessity this summer imo.

I hope we get kovacic. Not b2b but you doing pass on a player like him

He is. Another one doesn't make any sense in my view. Somebody like Neves, as a understudy to Matic, would be much more sensible.

I thought so - we already have two B2B midfielders with Fred and Herrera. We really need a Carrick replacement, I don't know who could do that job the only player I've seen is Weigl.

Someone watching the Ukraine league may need to correct me but from what I've read Paulo Foncesca only converted Fred to a box to box 8 in the last season. Prior to that he operated deeper, which means if Jose wants another box to box midfielder he can always play Fred deeper.

Agree that Neves would be a brilliant buy though, really like the look of him. Reminds me of Scholes in many ways.

Herrera can be the back up for Matic.

This is basically a direct Fellaini replacement.

Nothing article. He's going by Jose's comments in April rather than any actual recent developments. Don't think he has any clue as to who we are actually after. In fact this summer most journalists seem clueless about our actual targets. Even Di Marzio seems to have been fed wrong information as he was mentioning our interest in Mandzukic, Arnautovic, Smolov, Golovin and so on but now it appears Mandzukic won't be moving and Inter and Juve are apparently in hot pursuit of Arnautovic and Golovin with no mention of our interest.

Yep when it comes to United, Di Marzio has been more miss than hit lately. No journo seems to have any clue who we're going for except Bald Dunc and even he is wrong plenty of times. Mourinho runs a tight ship.

So, Jose is looking to play Fred deeper?
Interesting. Does he have the qualities? Or would he be a different style of CDM than Matic?

I do want another midfielder, but who ever that is, I want to be somebody who can pick a 5 or 30yrd pass. Some one like De Bruyne.
Pogba can do it, but his decision making can some times lack.
Would like to see a mr consistent in there. He doesn't even need to be world class, even a Golovin for example, who can grow into the position.

With Matic, Fred, Pogba and Herrera, we have a good foundation anyway, and although Pogba should be it, it'd be nice to slot in somebody who is just comfortable on the ball and just does the right thing
This isn't a diss on Pogba btw. He can offer more than the likes of Iniesta, De Bruyne etc. He's a lot more physical, should be able to carry the ball from A to B and be a presence a lot more, so putting a great passer next to him in midfielder would be complementary

Neves would make a lot of sense, a small gamble but if he carries on after the step up he will be 3x the cost next summer.
Might cost £50m, Wolves are thriving and looking to build. I hope we get him before someone like Liverpool do, the sort of smart signing they would make and he looks like a player who could dictate the tempo of games.

Fred can do both can't he? I'd argue an alternative to Pogba is important
I suppose so. Pep wanted Fred as a DM, so it seem he can play that role.
I feel we need a more mobile alternative to Matic. There were quite a number of games where our entire midfield was run into the ground through sheer running power. Of course Matic starts but would be nice to have someone like a young Casemiro to cover Matic .

Reason Pep will have wanted Fred is because he is very mobile, can still pass, and willing to get stuck in.
Perfect for a possession type team who play high up the pitch and willing to sit that bit deeper.
All this talk about Modric right now, I know he isn't moving, but imagine a midfield of Modric - Fred - Pogba

This would make a degree of sense if the plan is to use Fred in more of a Casemiro/Fernandinho role where his shuttling and workrate could be beneficial and offer us a more mobile screen than Matic, which would be wise long term as I think Fred's "dribbling" will be found out in the PL and he'd be better as a more functional CM than trying to be too offensive.

"Darmian is dropping down the list of priorities.....Bayern Munich’s Juan Bernat has leapfrogged him, according to Tuttosport, and Barcelona’s Lucas Digne is also an option."

"There have been contacts, but right now there's nothing concrete," Jesus Lozano said in an interview with ESPN when asked about reported interest.
"I think after the World Cup it will be clear if he stays at PSV or leaves for another team"
