I hope so too. I'm not pro José and I've been underwhelmed all season by him but one area I cannot doubt his prowess, is to bring in good players. But the way City are going, he too will need to up his game too. So I guess a lot is riding on the accuracy of his targets and Woody's ability to reel them in.

This window is going to be one hell of a ride. Sit tight!

Absolutely, we need to bring in the required quality to mount a proper challenge next season. Been too long since we've been properly challenging. On the bright side, even if Jose fails here, he'd be handing over a much improved squad in terms of personnel to the next manager. We seem to be buying proper players under him, which is refreshing.

I'm sure us securing CL football only 3 days back plays a major part. People forget just because Mourinho handed over the list to Woodward 2 months back doesn't mean negotiations should be advanced. Like every manager, Mourinho must have 1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice for every player he wants in a particular position. Now that CL football is assured, Woody can concentrate in trying to convince the 1st choice targets to sign for us and that will take time. If we are in July and still nothing has happened I would be worried but not now in May!

Exactly, myself included we all turn into transfer muppets come the summertime but why do we believe some of the hogwash in the press so much, I dont in that respect. They havent announced plans early the have released 5 players and signed one player, all the rest is as of yet just rumours. We also dont know how advanced our negotiations are, deals may be virtually done for all we know. I dont care if its the frist day or last day we sign players as long as they are good ones. The only thing I am jealous of that City appear to be doing is they are clearing the decks and looking to replace majorly where needed. As it stands I would like us to sign 4/5players if DeGea/Ibrahimovic stay and actually release 6/7 players if they stay, we have a big squad, some of which could be trimmed with wholesale changes

Sky just interviewed Jose and asked him if Greizmann was joining. He said he didn't know and that they should ask Woodward instead...:lol::lol:

According to my information, Benjamin Mendy is about to engage with Manchester City for 50 million euros.

They aren't messing around are they.. that said I'd still rather give Luke Shaw a full season and a chance to put his injury worries behind him.

Yes, people say its still the start of the window. Thats not the point, our rivals are signing players, top players, players that we might have been interested in.
No point us trying to compete with City for players. Let them get their fill then we'll see what's available.

How is exactly waiting for players to be snatched up and looking at what's left a good strategy? It seems we're interested in Mendy but will be missing out because we didn't pursue him as quickly as City did, for example.

What is this nonsense? How do you know we were ever even after Silva and Mendy? Because the media said so? Just relax and trust in what Jose is doing.. he has a superb record in the transfer window and has already proved that with us, I truth him to get the right players in.

Second time in a week that Mourinho has put pressure on Woodward. I wonder if he feels United are not moving fast enough to land his preferred targets.

What do expect our rivals to do? Give Woodward a call and politely ask if it's ok for them to buy players? We can't buy everyone and we're not the only rich club out there. We'll bring in plenty of players - good players. Stop crying because we haven't done all our business 3 days after our season ended.

Wow he really is playing the game
He is putting all the pressure on Woodward. Very interesting to not Duncan is quiet as well, looks like either our signings are being kept hush hush or Jose is getting frustrated with woodward not being able to sign anyone.
Saying again and again about 2 months old targets shows maybe woodward dint commit to spending money unless we were in champions league. Lot of pressure on Woody now.

Any deal for Antonie Griezmann will be straight forward to get done with the buyout clause, unlike the Pogba saga last summer when we had to negotiate with Juventus all summer. That deal I believe when everyone involved is ready will be completed swiftly.

Jose mourinho is currently in manchester. Maybe to deal a blow to man city for mendy.

To be fair we say that every summer and we always manage to allow things to rumble on till late in the day.
Last season we did our business early. Only signing which was "late in the day" was Pogba, and that was only because:
  1. He was at the Euros
  2. He wanted a break after the Euros before signing
  3. Deal Raiola made with Juventus when Pogba signed for them on a free complicated things financially
  4. Juventus not wanting to sell until they had the Higuain deal agreed

Are they signing the only top players left out there? Do you know who our targets are and are we failing to get them?
Just calm the fk down.

We got Zlatan, Mkhitaryan, Baily and Pogba last season without CL football. I'm sure we have a plan. There are plenty of good players out there. Jeez

Would make a lot of sense to be fair.

Where will it end for City though? Surely he'd cost 30m+, and they'll likely be in for 2 full backs a CM and possibly a CB too.

Already spent 43m on Silva
They've got nothing to worry about financially.

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...otball-news/man-city-ffp-refund-uefa-12928418

A statement from UEFA read: “Manchester City FC and Paris Saint-Germain, whose settlement agreements were signed back in May 2014, have fully complied with all the requirements and overall objective of their agreements.

“Consequently, they have exited the settlement regime.”

They're going to spend over £300m easily.

In Monaco you mean?
Yes Monaco. He said he was going to setubal in portugal, so going to monaco without family is a surprise. I think Maybe he is going to convince Mendy or another player maybe fabinho?

Not sure I like these Woodward comments from Jose - given the trouble he's had at his past clubs with the higher-ups, I really don't like the idea of him almost calling-out the man who has gone out of his way to give him all he wants up to this point.

It's not calling out, it's just ask him, he knows what I want.
Nothing in it really.

I'm predicting some harsh exchange of words about Woodward when Mourinho comes from vacation and hasn't got the players he wants to start training in LA.

We don't play our first pre-season friendly until July 15th.. add a week or maybe two at the most before than when the squad gets together and starts training so you're looking at around July 1st until Ed has to work his magic and yet people are losing their minds after 3 days.

Maybe its nothing to keep targets quiet or maybe its passive aggression for not moving earlier in the market. I exoect a duncan castles article by Monday.
