I dont have to panic, the only persons who will be panicking in the end is Mourinho and Ed
Yeah, all we can do is be depressed about it amIrite? If we don't get someone soon heads gonna fly I'm afraid.

Let's do neither. Great teams don't need a big lump as a plan b and if we want to win league titles then neither do we.
Are Diego Costa, Lewandowski, Ronaldo, Suarez, Higuaín, Falcão big lumps? Do you have any player on the squad, besides injured Zlatan, who even resembles that?

Who says we were in too late? It could be that Mendy just preferred City, just like Moratta prefers AC.
Exactly, or we were never even interested in him, just like with Bernardo Silva. I can bet it was a typical newspaper BS to make it look like city beaten us to his signature.

I honestly have no idea what argument you're trying to make here.

I've said that I'm opposed to signing someone who is only good in the air so I have no idea how listing some of the worlds most technical players in response is in anyway fitting.

Every player prefers us over other clubs who've performed better than us for the past 4 years. Or so the muppets say.:wenger:

Boufhasi said so. Said City have been negotiating for weeks. Also I didn't mean it in a way that we have a divine right to sign players, just that we made it very difficult by leaving it late, regardless of who he preferred.

Assuming the rumours are right, of course.

Is it a new record time for people to be shitting themselves over our transfer business? The FA Cup final hasnt even been on yet, and some are panicing.

Nah, the credible reporters said we were interested in Silva and Mendy. Its just clear we weren't as interested as City were.

It makes sense tbf. Yes Mourinho would probably have wanted Silva to upgrade on a player like Lingard, but the priority for a CB, striker and midfielder is higher. Not to forget Silva was brought in on Thursday and we were flying back from Stokholm then so there's nothing we could do in the circumstance.

By all accounts Belotti is a target man type who is primarily good in the air. I don't see the point in signing that type of forward when we lack width/crossing ability.

Belotti isn't a target man, h'e only 5'11 and is more like Tevez, he's good at heaidng in the box but you can't launch the ball to him.

Fropm the speculation I have read Belloti and Lukaku are our main striking targets anyway.

Ugh, Lukaku is such a medicore footballer and both hima nd Belotti are hugely overpriced.

Fair enough re. Mendy and I can believe that given they need a LB more than we do. But do we really care about Mendy that much? I'd have loved him here but there are other priorities I want us to address first. If Mendy goes to City it's not the end of the world and I don't think it suggests a lack of competence from Ed Woodward.

Delighted about the Morata news, hope it's confirmed soon.

Spend £150m on Lukaku and Griezmann, sort out the attack and move on to other positions.

Get it done.

Twice in a week Mourinho publicly put pressure on Woodward.

Depends on if Jose trusts Shaw or not, I suppose. Given the state of the game, fullbacks are vital nowadays and LB has been a problem area for us for a few years now.

I personally wouldn't trust Shaw given his injury record etc. but that's what Jose gets paid to decide. We absolutely need to challenge next season and I don't see us doing that without width down the left.

Lukaku is going Chelsea

That has gone quiet recently. I'm hoping they'll be forced to keep Costa or that Conte hijacks the Morata deal; it was reported that he wanted Morata and the board wants Lukaku.

Hazard latest comment:

"If I sign a contract, maybe there won't be enough money left to get Romelu!" he said. "I'm kidding. Whoever comes in, we'll be ready for the new season."

Besides Griezmann and Mendy I don't think a single journalist has a clue who we're after, been like this for a few years now.

Di Marzio/that other sky dude confirmed we want Fabinho and just missed out on Moratta.

But if we lose out on Lukaku, it'd be slim pickings for us. I'd like to think Lukaku would hit another level with us, and having Griezmann behind him could potentially be heavenly, but I do have my doubts about him. If only Ibra was a few years younger...

Well I imagine he thought Morata was realisitc given Jose knows him and Real were willing to sell.
You think Morata was 1st choice?

It's looking more and more likely that Belotti will be the one. I doubt we were going to try and win a transfer battle unless we knew we were favourites to win that battle. So I think Lukaku is Chelsea bound, and Auba is very weakly linked to us. Hope the fans can accept Belotti. And that we can get him for less than his release clause.

People aren't getting irritated because we haven't gotten anything done yet, it's becasue the market is slim in positions we need and already 3 top options are gone, leaving an already shallow pool with even less water in it.

Yeah I think Morata was first choice, Jose actually knows him and he has much more to his game that gels with what Jose likes in a striker and isn't stupidly priced like Belotti who plays in a poor league to boot.

He clearly doesn't trust him, and we have Darmian and Blind there… But I would only risk it for a big leftback, like Alex Sandro or something on those lines.

People say this every year and it almost always never happens. It's not a big deal either. Van Persie, Rooney, Tevez were all signed in August and went on to make an instant impact.

Those players were coming into a top team playing for a legendary manager, however. We still have a bit of a rebuild to do, have struggled in the league for four years, and the transfer market in England seems more competitive now.

I think people are maybe just looking for an early confidence boost, and signs that we're not being left behind or losing targets to our rivals. There are still a number of concerns over style of play and systems etc.

A couple of early top-quality signings would help calm the nerves a bit, I reckon.

I think more like 3rd choice and all the noise was coming from his end looking for a club. I think Belotti is 1st or Lukaku. Auba probably 4th. Just my opinion. Morata has never truly shown a top scoring season.

I read somewhere that Fabinho was all but confirmed to City?
