When do you predict we'll get our first Utd story that seems somewhat concrete? I do think we'll make at least one signing and I hope it starts developing soon. My inner muppet is starving for juicy tweets to bite into.

When we sign someone; the concrete stories come out right before we sign them (Bailly, Mkhitaryan) or have been linked with us for a while (Lukaku, Pogba, Matic).

So if we sign someone; it will probably be Ozil, or someone out of the blue.

But what if you're at a club that'll win at most 1 trophy in 10 years? That's why a lot of players move to clubs that win a lot of trophies. After players retire, their trophy haul is one of the key ways of judging how good of a career they had.

That’s my point though. Why stay at a lesser club just because they’ve won one trophy as opposed to joining a club who wins something every year?

Contrary to the previous reply, just because Spurs win the FA Cup this season that doesn’t make them one of the best sides in the league. Why would you turn down Real Madrid just because your team has won one cup.

Maybe I’m reading too much into what is just standard player pish-talk.

If United doesn't win anything in the next 3 years, will you support the best players in the club if they choose to leave?

I’m not sure I understand the question to be honest. I don’t think Spurs and United are comparable, in any event.

I think the only hold-up in that deal is how much money Sanchez is willing to sacrifice. Arsenal/City will come to an agreement in the 30M range, but I assume City will try to get some back on his wages, while Sanchez still expects to be paid by City like he was a summer free agent.

City are just taking the piss. Obviously loading up for a CL challenge because there's absolutely no need for Sanchez in the league.

I assume he'll come in for Sane in the short term - Aguero in the long term. Incredibly harsh on two fantastic players. In terms of resources this is just reinforcing what is already by far and away the best attack in the league.

Whatever people say about Jose's spending - Pep's is on another level.

I will to a certain degree, I wouldn’t be happy about it, but I’d totally get it and wouldn’t blame them.

Gotta appreciate your honesty, but it's a little difficult especially for clubs that have tasted glory in the past. The tale of Arsenal and Liverpool have been trying to get back to the sort of form that saw them dominate England - and that's where you struggle to want to keep your best talents.

If we fail to pay our players a top wage and never win trophies then they’ll definitely leave. it’s just the way of the world, the best players only play for the best.

I am hearing we are in for Evans?
Surely some of your current crop of CBs will be on their way out? Not including Mertesacker because he's retiring but you've got these players who primarily play there already: Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal, Chambers, Holding, Mavropanos (who'll be loaned out)

And so it begins...

It's apparently been "beginning" every year for the last 2 or 3.

The dire predictions on here have more false starts than a doped-up Russian athlete twitching away on the running blocks.

Chambers may be I have a feeling. And one of Per and Monreal I wouldn't be surprised. Evans is easily better than most of them from what I have seen. Though that's not saying much considering how poor they all are for us right now so Evans should be an improvement.

Jesus injured, go for Sanchez immediately. Comforts. Guardiola like a kid in a candy shop.

Here we can't even replace an aging, injured Valencia.

Haven't you heard; this squad should be right on City's tails if we had a good manager.

Levy rinses the shit out of any club wanting to buy from Spurs and rightly so, we could do with him teaching Woodward a thing or 2 but Spurs always sell in the end.

Can we please not turn this into a Glastonspur v RedCafe thread?

I avoid the Spurs thread because of it, I don't want to have to avoid this thread too.

@Snowjoe @Damien

Whilst I agree with you that most predict a Tottenham exodus every session, mainly to get a rise from you, I've never seen these sort of stories about Kane. It seems Real have started their pursuit by testing the waters, as we ourselves have seen too many times before.
