Gutted that Chelsea have got Barkley for absolute peanuts , would have been excellent next to Pogba and in front of matic , can tackle , drive forward and score goals for
15 million an absolute bargain

Looks like we won't get Sneijder this window, he's off to Qatar to play for Al-Gharafa lol.....

that's a weird one. English player quota maybe.
Most definitely has its reasons though, with a price of only £15m floating around the web in this market for a proven premier league player that has undeniable talent and potential, that is just missing consistency in his performance. I wouldn't have even minded us going in for him as he wouldnt set back any of our major transfers with a fee like that and would be generally a low risk addition to the squad with the added benefit of him and Lukaku being past team mates.

There was a stage (about 2012 I think) when I thought he'd become the next Rooney/Lampard type hybrid. He's done absolutely nothing of note since and I've never been so wrong about a player. He's useful, up to PL level, but will never be the top class player I thought he'd become.

Would have made sense for Palace, though. I think he'd do well there. I'd imagine he sees himself above that level and wants to be in contention for England, though. Which is fair enough, but mid table is his level.

The players we are linked with could definitely improve us while not costing much. We could even sign both Tierney and Sessegnion (seeing as the latter might develop into a winger) along with Ozil and we'd have spent less than the price quoted for Sandro (who is top class tbf).

In fairness Barkley might well have preferred Spurs. Spurs didn't want to pay for him, given he will be a free agent in the summer.

If so, seems like a poor decision, especially if the fee is only the rumoured £15m. Nowadays, dwindling contracts are normally a way to get players cheaper rather than a real opportunity to get them for free, since any decent player will get offers late in the contract.

Wages were the issue - I hear that he wanted a huge amount, more than Kane gets. Not surprisingly Spurs wouldn't go for this.

Monaco leaking that they "Could be tempted"?
You'd bloody think so too, considering they've already accepted an offer for him before.

That's like listing something on eBay and then saying you'll think about it when someone tries to buy it

I think they didn't want to sell in Jan, but now they know Arsenal and Liverpool might both go for him - they'll try and take one of them to the cleaners.
