If the management thinks he can be better than what we have, why wouldn't we go for him? Better to get him now than if he goes to Spurs cause we would never get him then.
Well I feel that many of our recent buys did not have much planning behind them
Like Pogba, Mourinho bought him thinking he will convert him into a DLP or something, when he clearly lacked the discipline to play there
Martial was bought and LVG himself admitted that he didn't know what Martial's best position was
Mikhitaryan too we weren't sure whether to play him as a RW or #10
Same with Di Maria, some games as winger, some as #10 some as CF

I'm fully in support of buying this kid but I hope we are buying him because we have a plan for him and not because he is the most talented teenager in England
In an ideal world, we buy this kid and loan him back to Fulham for a year or two and then integrate him into the team
We are the richest club and so funds shouldn't be a problem, but if all we can't afford this kid and a LB, and if we can buy only one, I hope we buy a LB as I just cannot take Ashley Young playing at LB any more

He's been a left winger since the turn of the year. Playing him at LB would be a waste.
Surely he could be useful on the right side of our attack if we are interested in him. Would make more sense signing him if that was the case.

According to Bilbao newspaper El Correo

If Mourinho signs 2 midfielders, he will be a squad player again for sure. In any case, he is not good enough to start regularly for us, although he is a very useful player for us.

Hopefully he is happy with his squad role, very handy to have in the squad considering his workhorse tendencies and the way he riles opponents up.

According to Sportitalia’s Alfredo Pedulla

Makes sense. With TAA, Clyne and Gomez Liverpool are truly understaffed at RB. Next time you try to drive a transfer fee Napoli maybe use a little more realistic team.

I think they'll sign Merino from Newcastle instead.
I agree. They wanted him last summer and went in for him in January as well, but it was a bit late. He has been stuck on the bench and sometimes not even there. Herrera said he would see out the last year of his contract. It depends then if he gets another or one that he is happy with. If not, Bilbao could get him for nothing and spend extra on his wages instead.

Sanchez and Ozil joined Arsenal.

Let's no go around pretending that players don't want to play for us. We're still an attractive proposition.

when their clubs at the time were actively offloading them. you could say Real is doing the same to Bale now, but if he has the option of Bayern, I totally understand why he’d say he’s “honoured” about their interest when he’s quick to shoot us down

and I didn’t say we are not attractive, in some regards we are still top drawer, but sporting wise we have been flabby for a minute, and I don’t find it shocking that some players wouldn’t really fancy playing our current type of football and having the FA cup has their haul at the end of the season, when and if Bayern is an option for them

I rate Cedric. Soton's going down so if we can get him for cheap, it's gonna be very neat

He's decent, but diminutive and appalling in the air, which is not something I'd usually associate with Mourinho's fullbacks (particularly given how average our CBs are in that regard).

The article says we are also interested in Cedric Soares from Southampton.

I like Cedric to be fair. Wouldn't mind him coming in on the cheap whilst splashing out in other areas.

I can't say I saw him plenty but every time I see him (usually against top team), he's quite solid. League Cup final last season, he basically marked Martial out of the game. Read the game so well Martial couldn't get time to start running thus him being forced to pass.

The whole Mourinho full back need to be capable in the air is overstated. Valencia is not any good in their air, Paulo Ferreira, Bosingwa, Nuno Valente, Arbeloa, Concentrao ain't exactly stronger than say Darmian. It's a about tactical discipline and awareness to pick the right mark and stay on the right side to defend crosses. Of course if you can get complete full back with aerial ability, that would be perfect. Here we're talking about managing a budget so we can fill other position in the squad. Of course since it's Mirror I'll take this rumor with a pinch of salt

“If I speak with four or five important teams who want Jorginho, that doesn’t mean that it’s done or that he is leaving.”

I've been clamouring for his signing alongside teammate Bertrand. It's like the Robertson signing in the summer and I still have no idea why Liverpool were allowed to go for him without any opposition. It makes complete sense especially considering Southampton will probably be relegated this season - do it, Woody.

Fred is like Anti Fellaini
Fred is mobile, agile, fast, a good passer, a good dribbler and has a good shot on him. Fred isn't a giant like Fellaini is
How is Fred a replacement for Fellaini

Hes a central midfielder.

Fair play Gareth but I doubt if it will be left up to you
I called this last year and got mocked for it but Bale cares more about the status of playing for Madrid than his career itself.
His hunger has to be diminishing. I can see him moving to China then retire in America.
He may as well be 33 years old today for all of the drive he has.

It seems complicated that he can recover the lost ground. Yesterday he didn´t even warm up. Maybe his decision will change if he does not play anything in the return in Madrid or in the final, if we play it. He may want to clarify to the club that he is going to decide his future without being included in the transfers of the club

Not sure we need another giant with Pogba, Matic and Mctominay at cm?

He's wasting his prime years at Madrid now, surely he has to know that? He's now fit and able to play football yet he's happy to sit on the bench there. Not saying i want him at United though

I am not sure. Looks like already past it when he plays, and after few games seem like return to treatment room. He's on pretty high wage, and at Madrid he can win trophies without much contribution

He’s fit because he isn’t playing though. Give him 120+ minutes in the same week and he’s on a stretcher for the next 4 weeks. And so it continues...

I think he's on double the wages he would get anywhere else, not everyone would give up that much money.

I suspect he fears he’d fail a medical, so would rather be in semi-retirement at Real being paid a shitload, turning out for Wales then feck off to America when his contract expires
