You don’t classify SMS, Jorginho, or Jean Seri as outstanding? One would be at Barca were it not for some shenanigans, one will soon be at City by some accounts, and the other is being hailed as the next €100m midfielder.

That said, we’ll end up with Fred.

No, not particularly. But I'm looking at it from the perspective of United needing hired-guns.

Same goes for the full-backs too.

If that's true about Arsenal's war-chest, they'll struggle to make top 7-8 next season. This could be the beginning of a monumental fall, which has in reality been setting in slowly for years.

Absolutely. And history will be very forgiving to Wenger's last decade in charge.

My first thought when I heard of Wenger leaving was: they will get some young, modern coach like Jardim and start playing good football again. The team needs just a few fixes and the offense still has some great players.

Then, when I thought about the 50m budget, I was like: that is not great but okay if you can get some cash in for useless players like Mustafi and Xhaka. Now, the front runners for manager are Enrique and Arteta:nervous:

The reality is: they have to hope that Spurs and Chelsea lose some serious key players (Hazard, Eriksen, Dembele) to have any chance in the Top4 fight next season (or bank on a Jose 3rd season meltdown:lol:).

When we were linked to Jorginho, posters wanted Fred more because Fred was linked to City.

But when we are linked to Fred, posters prefer Jorginho because Jorginho is now being linked to City.

Hmm, it is just me or is that how it's trending on the Caf now? Maybe I should've put this in the Weird Feelings on Football thread. Lol.

The grass is always greener on the other side.

If you look back at the transfer season of every year, you'll find plenty of examples of "we missed out big time" only for the player to fizzle out into nothingness. Or team formations with 6 names that never amounted to all that much. Transfers are a roll of the dice everytime and never as dramatic, good or bad, as they appear on the internet.

What do you think about Kondogbia? He has been doing really well at Valencia.
Never in a million years. Would fit in well at west ham. We need Fabinho or a back up of Nzonzi and Fred/Kovacic. Matic tires out during the season so we need cover but someone good enough to play in other positions. Fabinho can play RB, CDM and RCM. Nzonzi can play CDM or pair with Matic in a two in big games. Fred or Kovacic are needed to provide much needed depth in CM. Fred won't light it up but he will add quality.

Similar? Tall, midfielder, French of African decent = Like Pogba type of thing? Otherwise I see very few similarities.
For me ‘if’ he has the mentality to succeed at a top club, he’d do very well at United and complement the players around him. Him and Matic would made a formidable paring.

He's similar to Pogba, and if we really had our hearts set on buying another Pogba, I'd rather have Milikovic-Savic.

He is not similar to Pogba. He is exact opposite of Pogba.

Kondogbia has looked good the few times i’ve seen him. Asked a Inter supporting friend why they let him go and he said they were glad to see the back of him cause he caused problems in the dressingroom. Haven’t read anything that backs that info up, but there must be something i guess since he wasn’t playing bad at Inter either.

This comment today from Scott might make sure this transfer won't happen.

What Mourinho told McTominay before he joined the first-team
“When I first came into the group he said ‘the players have to like you’,” McTominay told the club website. “And it’s one of the most important things going into a new dressing room, that you are a likeable person and you get on with everybody. That has stood me in good stead.

“It’s important to be liked and on the pitch. It’s the manager having the faith to play me that’s been incredible and I can’t thank him enough.”

Interesting he's generally shot down links to United but welcomes Bayern. I hope we never sign him.

Why would anyone blame him? We've been torrid since he's joined Real and enjoyed his prime. He only has a couple years left at peak, it would make sense to go somewhere like Bayern which has proven more continuity over the years.

I've always had Bale down as a bit of an ABU despite alleged claims that he's a united fan.

First I’ve heard of him being a United fan.

He has had multiple chances to join us, but it seems that he just doesn’t fancy it.

He was still part of Madrid’s plans up until this year, he didn’t want to leave. It’s obvious in previous months he’s been told to feck off in the summer so he’s throwing some feelers out, no doubt we’ll be linked again soon.

player not wanting to join FA Cup merchants is not really that shocking tbh. besides, it would be stupid of us to go in for a player so reliant on his pace when he's had the injury record that he has

Sanchez and Ozil joined Arsenal.

Let's no go around pretending that players don't want to play for us. We're still an attractive proposition.

Plenty of good players have joined us in that time. Not all have worked out, granted.

And we'll see what his reaction will be. I've always felt he has no intention whatsoever of playing for United.

Yeah more youngsters and especially more youngsters playing on the left side is what we desperately need. We only have two of the brightest young forwards and one of the best players in PL playing there.
Can't argue with the talent this kid has but hope this doesn't mean we compromise on other key areas like FBs
And hopefully we loan him back to Fulham for 1-2 years with an option to call back

You know he’s a left back... an attacking left back but a left back nonetheless.

He's wasted at LB and from what I've read his future lies as a LW, pretty much like Bale
Don't think we are going to pay 40 mill plus for a teenage LB with zero experience in the top tier;we are paying for a potential world class forward

If the management thinks he can be better than what we have, why wouldn't we go for him? Better to get him now than if he goes to Spurs cause we would never get him then.

There's no way Fulham will sell this summer if they get promoted. One good season in the Premier League and they could probably sell him for £100m.
