"How well Bayern are run".

I think it's pretty grim really. These players aren't running down their contracts and signing for free by coincidence, they'll have agreements with Bayern a long while ago and will profit from a healthy signing on bonus no doubt but to hell with every other team in that league.

Isn't just with Bayern. Matip joined Liverpool on a free and Kolasinac joined Arsenal on a free - both from same team Goretzka is leaving.

Thank god for that. I was afraid we'd let another one just leave for the Prem.

A great tapping up system.
Definitely, they identify players and tell them to wind down their contracts. A great strategy with no downside, even if they get caught it will just be a small fine while Lewondski will cost around £100 million.

And his City teammate.

Btw, Lewandowksi and Goretzka for free, how do Bayern do it?
They’re the wealthiest team in Germany by some distance. It’d be like us without City, Chelsea, Liverpool or Arsenal. We’d be able to hoover up all the best players at the other clubs. It’s the same with PSG.

True, but what's stopping the players they tell to run down their contracts (if they are) from signing with the highest bidder?

@Utdstar01 it certainly seems that way, but I don't understand why players would stay on their original salary (Goretzka hasn't signed a new contract since moving to Schalke) for 5 years! And at the end of it they may not reach their potential so won't get that move to Bayern in the end of it all, just seems a very big risk for someone like Goretzka.

Lewandowksi on the other hand was a little more clear cut, established player scoring goals for fun for one of the best teams in Europe at the time, and was itching for a move the year previous, but it was Dortmund who rejected any sort of fee.

That was one painful summer thread that year :)

Oh yeah, I still have kinda fond memories of us all watching clips from Chilevision that were posted in the early hours, with different posters trying to translaste any drops of info.

True. He might struggle to get in the first eleven. Guessing he wants to stay in Germany.

Think that's more likely the case here, if say you were playing for Everton with a year left on your contract and United were the only top club in your country (you're English) would you go abroad to any other club but United?
