For every Sanches there's a Thiago, Vidal etc. Bayern are generally very good with their signings, I am pretty confident Goretzka will be another one, top prospect.
I agree he's close to a sure thing
1. Ensures we get the player without the clusterfeck of the summer window
2. Gives the player time to settle into the club and system - specially important as the pre-season may be non-existent given it's a WC year
3. We will have an absurdly small window in the summer with the ridiculous decision to close the PL transfer window a month earlier - again, this is exacerbated by the fact that virtually no big moves will occur during the WC itself
4. We ensure that when we enter the summer window, we actually know if and where we're short
5. The league may be gone, but I've been saying from the start of the season that we'll end up in a fight for the Top 4 if Chelsea and Spurs pull their fingers out / hit form. Add a pretty rampant and somehow perennially-fit and scoring Salah to the mix and things could get tight for the CL spots. I'd want top 3 and transfers are needed
6. With Mkhi fading into obscurity, Zlatan proving inadequate now, we're woefully short in terms of consistent quality in MF and ST (and we have no real wingers to boot). Augmentation can never come soon enough
7. Players like Ozil aren't even Cup-tied
8. CL can be exciting (optimistic, much? Maybe!); if we get past Sevilla (not the easiest, of course), we could have a shot at an SF or F place. Then it becomes a bit of a "on the day" kind of situation and with a fit first XI added to by 1-2 players of real quality, we could really threaten.
All in all, lots of reasons to buy. I have fond memories of Evra and Vidic...and we know that their half-seasons helped them get to grips and have fantastic years for us.

Most papers have reliable and unreliable journos, so the reliability of an article is also dependent on who wrote it rather than just the paper it was published in. These are my exact thoughts regarding Lucas. Highly praised as a youngster, now a bench warmer for PSG. He's only played 72min in Ligue 1, all sub appearances, with an average of around 15 minutes per outing. He does have 1 goal and an assist, buuut its Lucas Moura. Happy new year?

Moura was very good for PSG last season. He was one of their most selected players, 2nd highest goal scorer, equal 3rd number of assists. He was also good for them the season before. The only reason he doesn't play is because they just bought the #1 and #2 most expensive players in the world.

Very easy to read between the lines that Jose want to add someone or even two but he is not sure of Ed doing it. If he is content with what he has then he would said like he said before that this window is hard to find someone and etc. But now it's different story it seems and Ed should step up.
