Another point woul be that if a club gives the player with a release clause the money to buy himself out (obviously being taxed on that then) making himself a free agent, can't free agents sign for another club at anytime?

I don't think this latest report about him having a 100m clause outside of the transfer window to be correct, think more likely it'll be back down to 100m in the summer.

Yes and No, you can sign for a club anytime you like, however transfer windows are about the registration of those players so they are eligible to play.

See Barca's transfer ban and purchase of Turan.

The free agent window is a little bit longer (a month, I think) than the "transfer window". But you get into a really murky legal area with paying a release clause, is that technically free agency?, I would guess that inorder to quality for a free transfer you'd need to be not currently registered to a club when the official transfer window closes.

Makes sense, just wondering if there are ways around it, like when all clubs were under the impression that you had to pay tax on top of the release clause, suppose it's just curiosity.

If the Sanchez deal is to happen it happens today, or at least before noon tomorrow. Seems to me its all over bar the photoshoot/OTT memes on the United website.

Our chances would obviously soar if we add Alexis, plus having the likes of Zlatan available, alongside an in form Pogba, Martial, and Lingard. We would be a among the top 4 or 5 favorites at that point.

But you can't expect Sanchez to click with the rest of the team instantly (if we sign him ofc) plus let's be honest this current Zlatan can't really contribute to anything, he's just a shadow of his former self.

We can certainly surprise everyone, but wouldn't call us one of the top favourites just yet.

All well and good, the Sanchez news but I badly want to here about who we are bringing in for the midfield. I am totally convinced it's the area where we most need re-enforcements in the short, mid and long terms. Whenever Pogba is out, we become rubbish. It doesn't matter who is upfront if we cannot play good football in the middle of the pitch and feed our attackers. I don't even want to think about what will happen if we have both Pogba and Matic out.

There's no chance he would be earning double what our highest earners earn. At the very most (which was wrong, too) Rooney was reported to be on 300k a week.
When there were talks last summer about Sanchez leaving, Bayern‘s name was mentioned as well as a possible landing spot. I believe somebody at Bayern (Rummenigge or Hoeneß) said that the demanded wages were just not manageable.
All in all I would be shocked, if Sanchez earns less than 400k/week if he lands at United.

Di Marzio saying Alexis is in Manchester and Mkhitaryan is in London and that it will only be a matter of hours to confirmation

Haven't they both just been photographed at their current clubs though?

Now removed the Sanchez in Manchester and Mkhi in London part?

Yeah Di Marzio has edited his article. He removed the 'Sanchez is in Manchester and Mkhi is London' part. Still saying Raiola is in London and that it should be announced in a matter of hours.

Dortmund are a very sensitive club. I remember them taking digs at us in their announcement of Mkhitaryan leaving.
