The Barcelona, by now it is clear, does not pay at the expense of the market. And the Blaugrana club could also pay the resignation clause of Antoine Griezmann to Atletico Madrid. This is a figure that is currently about 100/110 million euros and that in the summer will become 200 million. Moving ahead of June, therefore, would be to avoid paying double for the French striker. The farewell case of Griezmann, however, for Atletico the substitute could be Lemar del Monaco. Very 'expensive' maneuvers in sight in Liga on the Barcelona-Madrid axis.

Sorry guys, i forgot the rule, i dont post tweets very often. Translation is as above.... Barca out of AG race if they dont sign him now

Other than you not wanting it to be true, do you have any reason to believe that it's not actually true?
There's no chance he would be earning double what our highest earners earn. At the very most (which was wrong, too) Rooney was reported to be on 300k a week.

Why would his release clause go up to €200m? It's €200m now, and will go down to €100m next summer.

I think it was said his clause will be 100m when the summer transfer window opens. Dont know if that is true or not with all the reports. The 200m was for a year when he signed the contract extension.

I dont think anyone will buy him before the summer anyway. Depending on the season and the coming world cup, i can see plenty of clubs triggering his clause though

Wait, what?

So, according to Di Marzio, Griezmann has a release clause that was €100m last summer, then went up to €200m when he signed his new deal, but then goes down to €100m again after the January window shuts, before going back up to €200m again in July???

So, essentially, the daft idiot has signed a contract that includes a clause stipulating that his minimum release fee will be €200m during all transfer windows and €100m outside of transfer windows (when nobody can buy him anyway). Makes sense.

In december Gil Marín , Atlético´s owner said in an interview that the clause is 200m€ until 1st of july, so I understand that in summer is 100?

I wonder if a club can pay a release clause for a player outside of a transfer window, and then register him when the window opens? Technically just a player buying out his contract right?

Yep a team can buy a player at any time.

Yes you may be right, actually. Still, this release clause yo-yo doesn't make much sense and flies in the face of what we already know directly from the Atletico chief exec.

Yes. Looks like Di Marzio has managed to get himself a bit confused.
Or there is possibility Barcelona wants to buy him sooner by negotiate directly with Atletico quoting the same amount of release clause in July. IIRC paying release clause is more complicated than agreeing deal with selling club tax wise ???

Also we know that paying release clause is often the last resort. Inquiring the player's club is the etiquette, sign of respect.

That was indeed the case and this caused difficulties for us during the protracted transfer of Herrera from Bilbao (and, similarly, Bayern's purchase of Javi Martinez). However, the Spanish tax authorities passed a resolution in October 2016 to prevent these problems occurring future. There is now no (or very little) tax payable in these circumstances.

Barca have gone crazy after they lost Neymar to PSG. They bought Dembele for 105m, Coutinho for 145m and now they are after Greizmann for 89m... That's a lot of money and they even got Paulinho. We don't need Griezmann with Sanchez coming but we do need a RW. There aren't many quality traditional RW in the world who hug the touchline and whip in crosses or a really world class left footed RW who would do a lot of damage cutting inside. The 24/25 year old Bale would have been just perfect.

Guessing Sanchez will play wide right as we're supposedly looking at getting in an additional cm in the summer to free up Pogba.

The best outcome of getting Sanchez for peanuts is that we can actually spend money on a quality and marquee type of a CM. The initial plan was to spend 89m on Griezmann and then probably compromise on a mediocre CM. I actually think we may go for Fabinho after all as he can also play RB since Darmian will be leaving for Italy. Although my favorites would have to be Jorginho, Milinkovic-Savic or Goretzka

Fabinho won't be that expensive. Pretty sure he's got a maximum of 2 years left on his contract and will be coming off the back of a mediocre season.

Goretzka would have been perfect but is Bayern bound.

SMS is too much like Pogba so as much as I'd like to see that happen I think Mourinho would see it as too attacking for big games.

Jorginho I know is highly rated but I've not seen enough of him to make a decision myself.

Could be an amazing achievement for Jose to become the first manager to win champions league at different three clubs, I hope he can repeat Porto achievement for us, Europa league winner to the champions league winner on year to year.:drool:

Yes, that would be absolutely amazing.

Another point woul be that if a club gives the player with a release clause the money to buy himself out (obviously being taxed on that then) making himself a free agent, can't free agents sign for another club at anytime?

I don't think this latest report about him having a 100m clause outside of the transfer window to be correct, think more likely it'll be back down to 100m in the summer.

“The deal can happen or it cannot happen,” Wenger said. “If it doesn’t happen he [Sánchez] could play on Saturday. I’ve worked on transfers for 30 years, it’s likely to happen but these things are never guaranteed.”

They have to become a free agent during a window, in order to be able to sign for a club when the window closes.
