Transfer Tweets - 2016

Unfortunately even previously reputable papers seem to do it too, like the Telegraph. In any case, the tweets are entertaining and more often than not tell us more about their approach to sports journalism than about the ambitions of clubs and players. :)

Yep, ultimately its more entertainment than anything else. As long as the worst of the worst are removed, I'm sure things will be fine.

What about the Sun ? They seem to post complete rubbish that one or two posters seem to relish retweeting ?
If they're banned then may as well ban every paper going. Would be absurd to ban them yet keep the likes of Palmeri and Pilib when both are worse.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the Sun and would love to see the back of them but doing it would just end up in a constant debate about everything with people saying if x is removed, why isn't y? With Metro, Express and Star all three have a 100% bullshit record.

No top-tier European based player will go to PSG unless they're just looking to see out the rest of their career in financial comfort, there simply is not enough of a challenge for them for 90% of the year.

A couple of naive or money-stricken South Americans may go there but that's the best PSG will do with transfers from this summer onwards.
You can keep telling yourself that but winning titles every year playing in an ambitious club, living in one of the best cities while earning a lot of money is a very competitive package for most players even if L1 isn't that attractive.

If the other end of the deal is Barcelona, Madrid, Bayern perhaps.

But at this rate going to PSG is a very no brainer compared to going to United.

We're a career ruiner at this moment

Arsenal's midfield problem resolved. If they would buy another proper striker and defender, that would be close to perfection from what they would need.
By the time our club has woken from it slumbers we might be able to pick up the scraps that are left.

Weren't they certain to sign Schneiderlin and Vidal last summer according to "reports in France"? Deja Vu

Unless there's a release clause then Leicester can play hardball all summer and potentially see his price rise in the Euros. It makes zero sense to agree a deal this early unless it's enormous. Once one of their stars leave then the rest will start wanting out. If there's a deal for Kante it'll be late in the window.

He might fancy going to Arsenal, doesn't mean it will be made easy for him.

I can't see them signing Xhaka and Kante when they have Coq, Elneny Carzola etc. It will likely be one or the other

I swear they link all good French players with Arsenal because of the Arsene link. Probably means nothing

Juve to pay Pjanic's clause. Allegri called the player.

Pjanjic and Gotze are at the same level. Either would be a good signing. Good that Juventus are clearing the path for Gotze, now just need to see if Spurs, Arsenal and PSG are interested.

So will that mean they're no longer in the hunt for Oscar/Götze/Isco/insert other attacking midfielder here?

Pjanic can play both as an attacking midfielder and regista. With Marchisio's longterm injury, he ticks all the boxes. And after Pirlo's departure we would have another king of set pieces. Although Pogba and Dybala aren't shabby either.

We'll soon be out of new players to be linked with.

Today Téléfoot links PSG with Higuain, Lacazette and Lukaku.

Not sure you'll go for any of them unless Cavani is on his way out.
We have no cover left for the striker position, but I agree a versatile forward who can play wide or in the middle would make more sense.

At least these are realistic. I've said since the start of the year that Higuain will be the one to replace Ibra due to him being the biggest star you could attract. Higuain approaching 30 makes it easier as well.

Yeah I know, its a tricky one. You could do with cover but those three would be looking at being starters and I get the feeling Cavani wants to be the focal point and if he doesn't get that he might decide to leave. Versatile forward who starts out wide but can play in the middle if needed for the odd occasion would do the job - like a much better version of Lavezzi.

It makes sense but Cavani+Higuain is redundant, and the trend is to trust Cavani next year.

There are quite a few players with the appropriate profile: Griezmann, Sanchez, Aubameyang, Dybala, Neymar, CR7, Götze etc.
It's difficult to know which of these options may be realistic. Only Götze is clearly on the move but who knows where he wants to play.

Wolfsburg sign 17 year old U19 Croatian national Josip Brekalo. I assume he signed a contract until 2021 though.

Just a question: Do you plan any separate threads for confirmed transfers, e.g. by league as have existed in the past for the PL and the Bundesliga?

Griezmann said he was happy at Atletico and working on extending his contract.

Bugger, without CL football it was always going to be a long shot, but Griezmann would have been epic as our second striker
