I honestly reckon players like Verratti could be tempted, especially if we have Mourinho as manager. It would just be getting the club to sell which is a problem. We could pay him massive wages, and more importantly, what player doesn't want to play in the best leagues? Ligue 1 is a fecking joke. Outside of Barca/Real, the premier league is the center of the footballing universe. Not because of the quality (which is still very high), but because it is the most watched league by far. When it comes to big money and prestige, I don;t think that players are nearly as worried about CL football - over the short term (a season or two) - as is made out.

for example, I don't think not having CL will make any difference to our recruitment this summer, as everyone expects we'll be back in there soon enough.

Why can all these teams abroad sign or agree to sign players, yet teams here just wait until the season is over and then moan they can't get who they want? Apart from City who seem to be quite active.

Doom-monger

If you mean United specifically, we are currently a shambles, on and off the pitch.

I wasn't particularly thinking of us, but it certainly applies to us. We seem to scout players for an eternity, then discuss it, then circle a club deciding if we should subit a bid or not(usually insultingly low), then when someone goes in and signs them, say we didn't want them anyway, while knocking our heads against the wall. I am becoming a doom-monger. I desperately want to snap out of it, but this season has sent me spiraling out of control.:lol:

Not a cat in hells chance both Sanchez and Hazard are going to PSG. I dont think either of them are. Typical paper BS

Sorry for late reply, been busy. I have to be honest, i haven't followed him much this year. I did watch him last year and he was quality. I think (from what i've read) that he was less exuberant and productive this season. Having said that he is a quality player, technically very good and like the reports say, with very good work rate. I'd worry about the physical aspects but there have been players over the years with the same type of physical caractheristics with reasonable careers in the Premier League. I dunno if he's ready to move to a club of United's stature though. He has one very good year at Mónaco, some decent stints in our national team but the rest is an average year and two seasons at Benfica B. Perhaps he should progress one more year under Leonardo Jardim guidance at Mónaco.

Thanks mate. I know there are players similar in stature that have done well in the PL but I'm feeling a bit risk-shy right now, if we went for a diminutive Portuguese forward I'd prefer Rafa Silva personally.

Martial strikes me as a player who loves the club. He won't be leaving us any time soon.

We not selling Martial. We signed him for shitload and it would take Ronaldo type bid to even start negotiations. But that's not going to happen because the board aren't silly and we do not need the money.

It's just PSG trying to show they relevant.

PSG have been linked to Hazard, Griezmann and now Martial since yesterday. Martial will be the most expensive and difficult deal for them. Even in the article it's stated, that we are unlikely to sell and Martial is settled here.

PSG want a big name to carry them forward. Ibra leaves and now they need a wow player. They will go out for every more than good attacker in the world. Think they have been linked to -
  • Hazard
  • Alexis Sanchez
  • Martial
  • Neymar
  • Cristiano
  • Griezmann
  • Martial
I think they will get hazard if they try hard enough

Hazard as been in the works for months I feel. I can see him handing in a transfer request to force a move.

Hard to call with Martial, with his missus fleeing back to France with his kids. Wouldn't be surprised if he's feeling very secluded here now. These young footballers tie themselves down way too early, and then it has a hold on their careers.

I'm sure Martial would have no problem signing for PSG.

United would be insane to sell him though so it won't happen. I mean maybe if they offered over a £100m or something but they won't so who cares.

 I find this shit hilarious, to be honest. L'Equipe are a fecking joke, but if we assume there's some truth to it, it really shows how deluded PSG's oil sheiks are. There's a difference between signing David fecking Luiz for 50 million and Di Maria, who was garbage for us, and barging in and signing our best player, who was signed for an insane amount of money (potentially) less than 12 months ago.

It's quickly becoming a running gag.

Die Welt - PSG joins the race for Götze

Martial would not come back to France no way

Ligue 1 is fecking shite PSG or not.

They can have Mata for £40m though !

Suppose that could be filed under no shit sherlock. He's one of the hottest young properties in world football.

I would be very interested to know how much money are other clubs willing to offer for Martial. I think that he can go for around 100m EUR already.

I'm relieved that finally a club with guaranteed CL football and an abundance of money is speculated to be interested in him.

Says he's happy at United in the article which is always reassuring :) PSG are genuinely just going to buy every footballer in Europe at this rate so they can win the CL by default.

I could see Martial leaving next summer if we keep van Gaal and miss the CL again. Not necessarily to PSG either but I definitely don't see a player of his immense talent, which will only grow, staying at a club that is kind of going nowhere on the pitch. I reckon next season is huge and that is the reason we need to get a high caliber manager in and several high quality players signed asap as even top 6 may become a stretch.

Wouldn't be far off, especially next summer if he keeps improving. Sounds a little premature but we probably won't be able to keep a hold of him if we continue the way we're going at the moment. He's only 20 but he'll want to be playing at the top level and every big club in Europe will be after him.

Yeah, thankfully so far our top performers bar De Gea have been committed to stay at the club ( You can say DDG was the only player deserving to stay at a club like ours). That can all change if we fail to progress on the pitch. Want to buy and keep players like Martial happy, then we need to be competing for all trophies there are.

The Martial speculation is absolutely laughable. I don't even think any club has approached his agent. It'd be pointless.

For sure and I don't think we can keep relying on our name for much longer either if we continue to be shit at football. I think De Gea will leave this summer if Real come back in for him so it's not looking great in that regard but all that could change of course with Jose coming in and getting a big pile of money to spend as I honestly believe we need those two things to happen if we want to compete again. Martial is our key player behind De Gea so I think we need to build a team around him going forward.

Really can't see United selling Martial anytime soon.

I think because of the reputational damage it would do. We won't be selling to PSG of all people. Not a player we want to keep.

If Martial does leave,United will demand an obscene fee. Something like 150 mil pound. He's worth that much to them .

I think he'll become a marketing machine for United in future.
