And the third Matt Law story:

1. Arsenal want Morata, Xhaka and Manolas (also wanted by Chelsea).
2. Rosicky, Flamini, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott and Gibbs all for sale.

I know it's only rumours so far but if Arsenal managed to sign those three players I reckon they'd probably win the title next season. Having said that, I'd probably say he same about any of the "top" teams if they signed those three.

I think you have summed up Arsene Wenger's last 12-13 years in one sentence. "IF Arsenal managed to sign.......win the League"

And they end up signing 1 of those 2-3 players they need.

Would be a good signing, should add some industry and legs to what has been a pretty custard midfield for Chelsea this season.
The first of two warriors I hope we sign for midfield if we can pull this off.

Of all the names linked to conte I can quite easily see nainggolan, cavani or lukaku, manolas and vidal at chelsea next yr
I wish. We'd challenge for the title with these kind of signings. Assuming we keep hold of Hazard that is. Still holding out hope Conte can convince him to stay.

I'm sure most will as its sourced through Di Marzio who is probably the most reliable journo around.

I've always been curious about this, the 'English Core' and it's effectiveness in building great teams, or whether it's more a symbol for pride and patriotism.

Who was the last dominant team to have an English Core at the very highest levels of the game? (Barca, Bayern, Madrid level - which is where we're aiming to be)

Most likely us in the 2006-2010 era but even then Rooney, Carrick, Scholes, Giggs, Ferdinand, Neville were the British Core. Ronaldo, Tevez, Vidic, VDS were also equally as important if not more important though considering Ronaldo's contribution to the team and Giggs & Neville particularly on the decline.
It's about feeling some connection to your team. Look at Bayern! I think we can safely agree that they are one of the best teams around but their fans are still unhappy that there aren't as many Germans in the team as they would like. Barcelona fans were not happy with LvG when he filled the team with Dutch players and they still to this day make it a priority to have home players in the side. I guess there is the inherent romantic side to this in the sense that fans want to see their team distinguished somehow. I want Manchester United to feel different to Barcelona as I am sure they want to look at their team and feel it is different to Bayern. The other side to it is the practical argument. The best teams have players that grew with it and mostly those players come from the same country where the status of the team is higher. Bayern will always be bigger in Germany than anywhere else and it is the same for us in England. Having a core of home players ensure they look at those teams as the epitome of sporting ambition. You look at the best teams of the past 20 years or so and they were all filled with players who grew up with them from Juventus in the '90s, Heynckes's Bayern, Barcelona and us under Fergie.

Kanté from Leicester maybe?
I assume you're expecting Conte to adopt a diamond/three man midfield? I think a potential problem with signing both Kante and Nainggolan could leave you lacking a bit of a specialist? Both are fantastic box-to-box players but neither truly excel offensively, and neither seem too disciplined to sit deep as a defensive midfielder/no.6.

Kanté to me seems like the perfect #6 from what I've seen of him. Nainggolan as the box-to-box player in the Vidal role, and Cesc as the playmaker like Pirlo. Maybe Pjanic instead of Fabregas if rumors are to be believed.

You think Roma will sell both? Would be madness on their part. Keita is an old man too

Probably not willingly, you're right. Think he has a release clause, though, so they may not have a say if someone triggers it and the player wants out.

Everyone seems to be interested in taking a slightly over the hill Carrick for next season.

I think we should give him a 1 year extension & then sell him to China for £20M, so the we get our money back and he gets a final payday for his pension fund.

SportBILD is a shitty source, therefore their claim that Dembele to Dortmund is a done deal must be taken with stones of salt.

Dortmund would a brilliant move for Ousmane Dembele, to be fair.
And we'll be linked with him for obscene fees in 2 years time. Dortmund catch these players at just the right time. Noone expected Aubameyang to become as good as he is (people do actually expect that of Dembele) but they got him and took him there. Can't think of many United players worth a whole lot more now than when we signed them.

Apparently Chelsea are trying to sign Griezmann. This is such an obvious signing to make for us. He's the one elite level gettable striker, and even supports United. There's your talismanic attacker for the next 3-4 years sorted.

So are we according to Mitten.

It's only SportBild running the story so far so it's very far from certain Dembele will actually end up here.
Aubameyang was runners up top scorer in Ligue 1 after Zlatan so he didn't exactly fly under the radar. I remember Newcastle was interested and Spurs, and Leverkusen as another Bundesliga club. Perhaps elite clubs didn't care to look at his personality rather than his outfit, or they doubted that he could further develop at the age of 23, reduced him to his acceleration and pace.

I think Amol's point about Aubameyang is pretty fair. I remember when he was at St Etienne, he was regularly linked with Newcastle and to be honest, I didn't know much about him at the time, just that he hadn't made it at AC Milan earlier in his career. Judging by his record in France, he looked like a typical Newcastle signing at the time. I don't think anyone expected him to become the player that he has at Dortmund, though. The guy is insanely good and if anyone else had of spotted that kind of potential, surely bigger clubs than Newcastle would have been chasing him. He has exceeded all expectations.

Wow, cant we sign a better and younger CB these days? What has the world come to, Naldo with 33 to United
Don´t judge prematurely. Maybe there is another Naldo at Wolfsburg.

TBF, Naldo is a top goal scorer from set pieces.

He was linked with PSG when he was at ASSE but he said PSG project was too big for him at the time and indeed BVB was the sensible choice.

Even in Dortmund it took him some time to beat the competition of Blaczykowsky and Lewa leaving also helped him a lot.

Tielemans is playing rather well. Seems to find back his form. If he can keep focus he can be an excellent midfielder for years to come.

Dendoncker is a tough one. Hard as a rock, excellent shot, young but hasn't played a whole lot of games this season. Was injured for a long time. I thought he was younger actually. Should stay at Anderlecht for at least one more season.
