Nah, that was what English media made out of it but that's bollocks. Gündogan's camp leaked the agreement with United to the media but United was shy to pay the demanded 15-20m (Euro that is) when Schweinsteiger became available. A move I fail to understand TBH because BFS is a lot older, injury-prone and most likely demanded a bigger pay cheque than Gündogan.IIRC the asking price wasn't the issue but rather the wage demands was too high. Also consider he had back problems so that was a wise decision at that moment.
