Whilst I agree with the general thrust of your post there one thing I think you have overlooked, the fact that we have several quality players (who aren't performing, yes) but from whom we would get more from provided we sign the right type of players to complement them. Players like ADM, Mata and Rooney are amongst the most dangerous in the game and with the addition of Depay there is no doubt in my mind that if we upgraded our midfield and right back we would see more output from our forwards e.g just imagine the chances we would have created on our right side if we had someone like Alves instead of AV! Next season Herrera would have settled, in Depay we could be having a more clinical and explosive player than anything we have on the wings, ADM would have rested and returned his confidence and we surely would have signed a midfielder to replace Carrick, and given that, if not for our delayed summer business that cost us dearly in the first three games, we were very close to all our rivals in all the games we played against them I'm sure that if play our cards right we will get close.
Hell, we pushed Bayern very close last season with an inept manager and a broken team.

We need a holding midfielder more than anything else. Vidal is a versatile midfielder, but I don't think he's suited for such role. Granted, he's a tough tackler, a dynamic and aggressive player - something we also need, but if we assume that we'll only be signing one midfielder this summer, then we should get someone to replace Carrick. A player in the mold of Pirlo, Xavi and Xabi Alonso. Verratti would be the perfect choice, in my opinion.

Of course, players like Pirlo and Xavi have always needed someone more defensive and dynamic to orchestrate the play from deep and Vidal could be that player for us, but as a Carrick replacement? I don't think so. I'd say that in a potential 4-3-3 United formation, Vidal would be battling with the likes of Herrera for a starting place.

Though not on an actual transfer, thought this deserves a mention here as it will affect us to some degree

I don't think thats really anything we didn't already suspect to be honest. I don't think they were likely to have a spending cap this summer if they met Uefa's conditions.

But they will still only be able to spend within their means, or at least within the means of the big club they pretend to be with their fake sponsorships.

I think i read somewhere they will be able to spend £80-120m this summer under FFP. A lot of money no doubt but it still has to be spent wisely, and they can no longer offer players double the wages of their rivals to attract them to City.

I'd rather keep Cech until his contract expires than sell him to Arsenal, tbh.

That won't make sense.. so Juventus will have Llorente, Morata, Cavani, Dybala and Tevez next season?

I don't wan't Alves. Seems likely to be one of those where he's achieved everything at Barcelona and then comes here for one last big payday and doesn't put the effort in.

Cech's been a fantastic servant and deserves to play though.
Yes, but not for what many Chelsea fans (myself included) consider our most detested opposition.

Alves would be a rather underwhelming signing. I would much prefer us to go for Clyne.

I saw that Tevez was linked to Liverpool, I doubt that VERY much though.
He wants back to Argentina i read all year long, must not mean something in the end.

He's always wanted to go back to Argentina. He's 31, one year left on his contract, he will surely stay the year and then be free to sign with Boca Juniors.

 Sorry mate that's funny.

How would you feel if United went for Cech should DDG be off?
I wouldn't care as much because you wouldn't be improving by replacing DDG with Cech. Arsenal would be getting a massive upgrade and are possibly our biggest challenger next season. Can't just gift them a world class keeper.

Are Chelsea fans really that bothered? They already possess a better 'keeper than Cech.
Yes. Anyone but bloody Arsenal and Wenger.
