We're not even close in terms of quality, we'd need several world class top players, which I don't see us buying in one window, one maybe two top players at most and a few bit-part players. Take Barca for example, we're not even close to touching them, we play their style of football but they just play it much better whilst also being better in just about every position except GK. (A player who looks likely to leave anyway )

In fairness we have struggled against teams in England this season and we saw how far behind England is in comparison to other European leagues considering the EPL champions (who I believe we're still pretty far from in terms of squad depth and match-winners, Hazard etc) got swept aside by PSG who played with 10 men the whole game.

As much as I'd like to believe we could win the CL, I don't think one transfer window would be enough. Besides, we've seen what buying a whole new team can do, take Spurs for example.
Whilst I agree with the general thrust of your post there one thing I think you have overlooked, the fact that we have several quality players (who aren't performing, yes) but from whom we would get more from provided we sign the right type of players to complement them. Players like ADM, Mata and Rooney are amongst the most dangerous in the game and with the addition of Depay there is no doubt in my mind that if we upgraded our midfield and right back we would see more output from our forwards e.g just imagine the chances we would have created on our right side if we had someone like Alves instead of AV! Next season Herrera would have settled, in Depay we could be having a more clinical and explosive player than anything we have on the wings, ADM would have rested and returned his confidence and we surely would have signed a midfielder to replace Carrick, and given that, if not for our delayed summer business that cost us dearly in the first three games, we were very close to all our rivals in all the games we played against them I'm sure that if play our cards right we will get close.
Hell, we pushed Bayern very close last season with an inept manager and a broken team.

Vidal himself perhaps is not what we need, but his type is what we need exactly, or do you have other ideas?

We need a holding midfielder more than anything else. Vidal is a versatile midfielder, but I don't think he's suited for such role. Granted, he's a tough tackler, a dynamic and aggressive player - something we also need, but if we assume that we'll only be signing one midfielder this summer, then we should get someone to replace Carrick. A player in the mold of Pirlo, Xavi and Xabi Alonso. Verratti would be the perfect choice, in my opinion.

Of course, players like Pirlo and Xavi have always needed someone more defensive and dynamic to orchestrate the play from deep and Vidal could be that player for us, but as a Carrick replacement? I don't think so. I'd say that in a potential 4-3-3 United formation, Vidal would be battling with the likes of Herrera for a starting place.

Bloody hell thats some attack if they can pull that off but the only way Juve can afford this is if they sell Pogba surely to fund this all because Cavani wont be cheap unless its a swap with PSG

Feck off, we need to play hard ball with these tight Italian teams. That's nothing for him.

His contract runs out in 2016, so I'd say 13 million euros is a fair price for him. We'd do well to get that much for him considering his playing time in the last couple of seasons and contract situation.

Milan and Roma would be great destinations for him. Such a likeable guy and i wish him all the best but i do not want to see him lining up against us in the premier league next season.

£8M? That's no where near enough for him. We should be getting £15M.

Based on what? He's been a bit part player for more than 2 years now and only has a year left on his contract. Getting £15M for him is unrealistic.

We should have sold him last summer, instead of loaning him to Madrid where it was clear what role awaits him. Considering the circumstances and our awful selling record, £8M would be a good deal for us.

@skyfootball: TRANSFER UPDATES: Dani Alves 'days away' from joining Man Utd, reports suggest. More here: sky.me/1cvNna8

I really hope not. I know hes not popular but Clyne would be perfect for us. Not only is he a very good right back, but he is Englush. Don't we need a certain number in our squad? Makes sense to get him. Could have 5 English starters next season then. In the next year or so Carrick will be gone, not long after that Rooney, so we need some English players for the home grown thing.

Not saying we should buy Clyne because hes English, but its certainly important to factor it in. We're not going to be buying any English players for other positions and i'm not sure we have any nailed on youth products sure to become regular starters, the closest being Wilson.

He'd actually be decent for when teams park the bus against us, from an attacking sense. (Alves that is) Clyne is decent but we have english/homegrown players tbh, plus we just spent £30m on shaw.

Cant wait for next season:

Depay - Ronaldo - Bale

Gundogan - Pogba

Carrick

Shaw - Hummels - Laporte - Alves

DDG
The irony of it all? The transfer circus still didn't come up with a fantasy solution for Carrick lol.

The fantasy solution is that we make him bionic.

Wait, that's more sci-fi, we make him a dragon.

We need a player to gradually replace Carrick, we need another central midfielder as an upgrade for Fellaini, either by directly slotting in for Fellaini or be the defensive minded central midfielder, thereby to push Herrera in Fellaini's place. That's my opinion

I'm hoping thats Luis opinion too.

You might be right but we will have Depay and hopefully another penetrating attacker. not sure about Alves defensive discipline either.

We have a few but not too many. Plus we could have 3 of Englands defensive backline playing for us. That would be pretty cool.
