You would have to imagine more thought will go into our superstar signings this summer after the disappointment of Falcao and di Maria. I've no doubt we'll make at least one marquee signing and I'd be pretty underwhelmed if it was Cavani as anytime I've seen him he's disappointed.

Woody, I hope you are reading! Cavani is shit!

Every match I watch Cavani play, he is sh*t. Why is he rated so highly?
He was so brilliant at Napoli that people want to believe he can regain that form.

I'm not totally against it. He would be a good fit for LvG's philosophy. Hard working all round striker that have been in the shadow of Zlatan for to long. When Zlatan was banned and Cavani got to play in his preferred central role, he has started banging them in. 8 goals in the last 5 league games (first 3 games he played centrally and scored 4. Last 2 games 4 goals, with Zlatan back he's played RW but has been central when Ibra has dropped to AM). Would prefer Lacazette/Dybala, though, for their versatility (can both play on the wing, Cavani wouldn't settle for that again). He'd only be an option if both RvP and Falcao leaves, though. Sorry for the long post, expecting a shit-storm heading my way now.

Hes bottled it in the big games for me.
@ the world cup
vs Chelsea vs Barca (this year, and last)
Just seemed to be missing countless chances. Don't rate him in the £40m+ bracket, good player but not elite, and we'll be paying an elite fee.

Nothing like a Cavani rumour to suck all joy out of your soul. Wish he would just feck off already.

He scored in the first leg from a wing position and PSG had Zlatan sent off in the second leg. Plus it's not easy scoring against Chelsea, of course. Do agree that he'd be too expensive and i'd rather we go for a younger striker (unless we can have Zlatan for a year, second shit-storm incoming).

As long there's no 'Operation keep Marco Verratti'...

Verratti is a talent, but in keeping with a recent caf trend/expression - 'I'm not sure he is a Van Gaal player'. If you think Herrera lacked discipline, wait until you see Verratti continuously treating the edge of his own box as if he is in the final third, trying to dribble opponents in his penalty box regularly, not to mention flying into tackles as if there is some sort of amnesty on cards.

When I originally saw him at Napoli I thought he was class as well, his movement was breathtaking, ever since then when sat down to watch PSG he's looked the definition of mediocre.
If United purchase him at this point, we'd be in another RvP situation within another year or two, he's too old now, United should go younger if in for a striker this summer.

PSG have embarked on "Operation Keep Cavani." Will it be enough though? My piece for @ESPNFC on Cavani's future. http://www.espnfc.com/french-ligue-1/9/blog/post/2445545/edinson-cavani-is-the-man-to-lead-paris-saint-germains-line…

From the article:
It is a different story for Manchester United. Robin van Persie's best days are behind him and Radamel Falcao will surely return to Monaco, so the club will be in the market for a world-class striker. Cavani would be a perfect fit at Old Trafford. They have the money, the pedigree and the atmosphere. I expect them to make a move.

I'd rather sign that shit striker from Stoke whose name I can't remember because he is so shit.

He can take the piss in the French league, but in the CL he hasnt done much the stuff you described, at least the dribbling in the own box part. Lets not talk about flying tackles :D

Cavani got a hat trick at the weekend didn't he.

He's not as bad as some of you make out.

Can we talk about him bossing Chelsea when PSG were down to 10 men?

Coz he used to do it on a few cold Tuesday nights....in Naples! ;)

Those thinking Mou will deploy Hazard centrally to accommodate Griezmann is dead wrong. Maybe against "lesser" teams, he might. But in Europe and in the bigger games, it'd be way too attacking.

I think he's looking at a box to box, next to Matic, as he's going to be deploying Fab behind Costa, long term. Griezmann will most likely rotate with Willian, and deputies when Costa is injured. Though Jose sure loves a big CF.

He is, this article is trying to get some mug club to buy him because despite what it says, PSG want rid and need to sell him to buy other players
Kagawa scored a hat-trick against Norwich once...

Yes, and there he really didnt dribble around in dangerous areas, but when needed in midfield and under pressure. He would be my dream midfield signing, such a beautiful player.

I rate William Carvalho highly but Verratti is a football virtuoso material in fullest meaning of the word. The lad is on another level when it comes to retaining, keeping possession plus that flair of skill when it comes to operating in tight spaces.

We often get pressured by attacking players and it ends with another back pass to Dave... would almost never happen under Verratti's midfield.

If available, it's a buy. Cavani is irrelevant.

Cavani has 56 goals in 92 appearances for PSG since joining and has also scored 13 in 30 apps for Uruguay in same period. He is a proven goals scorer as his stats in Italy were even more impressive. It is annoying getting linked to him all the time given his age and prices quoted but he really is not that bad.

Plus for psg he has played a lot on the wing.

A more attacking XI:
Hazard-------Costa-------Griezmann
---------------Koke--------------
---------Fabregas---Matic---------

A more conservative XI:
Hazard-------Costa-------Willian
---------------Koke--------------
---------Fabregas---Matic---------

If any of those 2 are how chelsea will line up next year might aswell call the title quits now. They are both ridiculously good.

Exactly my thoughts, people just immediately jump on the "I hate cavani" bandwagon, people greatly over exaggerate his "shitness". Whilst he is an inconsistent player the fact is he scores plenty of goals.

At Napoli he scored 78 goals in 105 games which is a great record

At PSG this season In 35 games he has scored 20 goals, when you consider the majority of the time he plays out on the wing so they can play ibra as striker that's pretty good going.

For the money he would cost, hes not good enough, that much is very apparent.

Yes I agree the money is far too much, that is the only thing turning me off cavani but my point was he really isn't as bad on the pitch as people make him out to be.

they just immediately hear cavani name and the pitchforks come out.
