Thats great...expect Cavani is shit.
He was so brilliant at Napoli that people want to believe he can regain that form.Every match I watch Cavani play, he is sh*t. Why is he rated so highly?
I'm not totally against it. He would be a good fit for LvG's philosophy. Hard working all round striker that have been in the shadow of Zlatan for to long. When Zlatan was banned and Cavani got to play in his preferred central role, he has started banging them in. 8 goals in the last 5 league games (first 3 games he played centrally and scored 4. Last 2 games 4 goals, with Zlatan back he's played RW but has been central when Ibra has dropped to AM). Would prefer Lacazette/Dybala, though, for their versatility (can both play on the wing, Cavani wouldn't settle for that again). He'd only be an option if both RvP and Falcao leaves, though. Sorry for the long post, expecting a shit-storm heading my way now.
Well actually, as long as he doesn't end up at Chelsea or ArsenalAs long there's no 'Operation keep Marco Verratti'...
Tell me about it mate. It's been two years now when will it die?Nothing like a Cavani rumour to suck all joy out of your soul. Wish he would just feck off already.
He scored in the first leg from a wing position and PSG had Zlatan sent off in the second leg. Plus it's not easy scoring against Chelsea, of course. Do agree that he'd be too expensive and i'd rather we go for a younger striker (unless we can have Zlatan for a year, second shit-storm incoming).Hes bottled it in the big games for me.
@ the world cup
vs Chelsea vs Barca (this year, and last)
Just seemed to be missing countless chances. Don't rate him in the £40m+ bracket, good player but not elite, and we'll be paying an elite fee.

PSG have embarked on "Operation Keep Cavani." Will it be enough though? My piece for @ESPNFC on Cavani's future. http://www.espnfc.com/french-ligue-1/9/blog/post/2445545/edinson-cavani-is-the-man-to-lead-paris-saint-germains-line…
From the article:
It is a different story for Manchester United. Robin van Persie's best days are behind him and Radamel Falcao will surely return to Monaco, so the club will be in the market for a world-class striker. Cavani would be a perfect fit at Old Trafford. They have the money, the pedigree and the atmosphere. I expect them to make a move.
Verratti is a talent, but in keeping with a recent caf trend/expression - 'I'm not sure he is a Van Gaal player'. If you think Herrera lacked discipline, wait until you see Verratti continuously treating the edge of his own box as if he is in the final third, trying to dribble opponents in his penalty box regularly, not to mention flying into tackles as if there is some sort of amnesty on cards.
Cavani got a hat trick at the weekend didn't he.
He's not as bad as some of you make out.
Can we talk about him bossing Chelsea when PSG were down to 10 men?He can take the piss in the French league, but in the CL he hasnt done much the stuff you described, at least the dribbling in the own box part. Lets not talk about flying tackles
You need Rio and Vidic and De Gea to sustainDepay Rooney Di MariaEven better
Mata
Herrera Gündogan
Coz he used to do it on a few cold Tuesday nights....in Naples!Every match I watch Cavani play, he is sh*t. Why is he rated so highly?

I rate William Carvalho highly but Verratti is a football virtuoso material in fullest meaning of the word. The lad is on another level when it comes to retaining, keeping possession plus that flair of skill when it comes to operating in tight spaces.Verratti is a talent, but in keeping with a recent caf trend/expression - 'I'm not sure he is a Van Gaal player'. Cavani has 56 goals in 92 appearances for PSG since joining and has also scored 13 in 30 apps for Uruguay in same period. He is a proven goals scorer as his stats in Italy were even more impressive. It is annoying getting linked to him all the time given his age and prices quoted but he really is not that bad.
Agreed. I did write that he remains a favourite. I just think we have more pressing needs in the rear.
More? Not sure even Ronnie could breakthrough the kinds of defences that are now being put up against us in the league. We need to solidify the rear before adding to the top stars that have made us front heavy.
You got me full square...
You and your rear. You got me full square...
A more attacking XI:

A more conservative XI:

Exactly my thoughts, people just immediately jump on the "I hate cavani" bandwagon, people greatly over exaggerate his "shitness". Whilst he is an inconsistent player the fact is he scores plenty of goals.
At Napoli he scored 78 goals in 105 games which is a great record
At PSG this season In 35 games he has scored 20 goals, when you consider the majority of the time he plays out on the wing so they can play ibra as striker that's pretty good going.
For the money he would cost, hes not good enough, that much is very apparent.
How do you know that?
