Maybe Hummels needs a tweet like Clyne's - something to the effect of "I want to transfer to Manchester United for £30m".

It's in the bag boys:

£50m for Clyne seems a bit much though...

Edit: Think I'm late to the party :(

I know my club aren't angels in regards to tapping up, but Zidane should shut it regarding players not at Madrid.
Aye, it's irritating as hell, but it works.
Pre-summer tapping up as usual from Madrid. I'm just glad it's not De Gea this time.
Yeah, I think they'll be in for Hazard not this summer, but the next one - as a Ronaldo replacement (if not Bale!).

It's a smart way of tapping up players I must say though, they know that Hazard has just signed a contract and won't leave this summer so they will just put this shit out in the media for a while. Now if Chelsea don't do well this season the media will itself make up stories saying how in the past Real have been admirers and thus they will get him next summer

I just don't see the point in tapping-up players being illegal. Everyone does it, it's impossible to prevent and the only losers are the clubs not being immoral.

In an ideal world it didn't happen - but there are so many ways to do it - it can't be prevented

I'm sorry I think I'm missing something; I thought the transfer window officially opens when the football season ends. How come there are tweets of bids or no bids yet...etc? Surely this can't happen until June?

Easy solution. When someone at a club (Zidane for example) mentions another player that currently doesn't play for the club, immediately fine them and/or transfer ban them for that window or the next upcoming window.

Edit: I understand it's a bit harsh but to eradicate foul play like that, you have to be firm IMO.

To be honest that's not how tapping is done i.e. through the public media. Just call up their agent and tell them you are interested. The agent will then call the player up and let him know. Nothing illegal as long as you don't talk to the player directly.

When someone publicly talks about a player like that, that's more effective than calling up any agent. That gets in the media and everyone starts getting on the bandwagon and starts telling the player to move directly.

Is that how the player eventually decides? The club that produced the most amount of soundbites?

The Fabregas, Thiago and Hazard deals are examples in front of us. A lot was said to each one of them and we did all the publicity we could from our side (legally i.e.). De Gea even wrote "Welcome to Manchester" on the ball. That rarely works. Tapping up happens when a contracted player is approached in this way (either through his agent or not and he then starts sulking).

Do you think Ronaldo decided to leave because Real legends were speaking to the media? I don't think so. Same for Berbatov. Their agents were approached and they wanted to better offer.

Players can't move clubs outside the window but you can have agreements in place. Its fair enough too, the window is to level the playing field so that a rich team can't buy a world class striker with 3 games to go if their star player gets injured. But its mutually beneficial to the buying and the selling club to get business done early if the deal suits both parties.

Ah right I see, I didn't realise deals could be done before the window opens, saying that Vidic, Evra and Rio were all goners before the season end now I think about it. Thanks.

They were free agents though, it's slightly different for players in the last few months of their contracts. Herrera and Shaw were done and dusted well before this time last year though. So was Carvalho, who had agreed a deal in principle with Moyes and his crew. LvG decided against him though.

Götze was "gone" to Bayern before the CL final 2 years ago..

Ofcourse Marca would like to convince everyone that any player would offer the shirt off his back to clean toilets at Bernabeu than play elsewhere.

Then if he does sign another contract for us, they'll say he chose the money, but wanted Madrid.

Man Utd Stuff is a terrible account, same goes for UtdReport.

Yeah, don't post either of their stuff here. ManUtdStuff also posted that thing about de Gea's contract talks with Real being well under way despite DT not saying that - and didn't even delete it afterwards.

They just rehash stuff from other journo's and sites.. Shouldn't really be a source of transfer tweets imo, as they'd be a 2nd or 3rd source at most and a lot gets lost in translation by the time these dweebs tweet it in the most sensational form possible to push up the follower count

I haven't seen much of Dybala, but it seems like he makes a lot of sense for the channel-running role Pereyra has been playing when Tevez is the 10 in a diamond, and as Tevez's backup and also as Morata's backup when they want pace up front.

Oh damn I missed the DT denial bit, although I did call bullshit when it was first posted I won't deny it did still give me that sinking feeling! Cheers.
