That sucks. But hopefully the club have known for a while and have a plan in place.

Should you really expect loyalty of a guy who left his "Boyhood" club in the first place?

Isn't Taylor considered reliable? Looks like De Gea is indeed going to become Judas.

I don't know the context of that comment, but Taylor is clearly not a bullshitter.

Don't sell him, I'd rather keep him for a season then the £20M we'd get for him.
We bought him for that when he was flapping his arms at everything. If he was to be sold, I'd bet we would get something much closer to £40M. We don't want to sell but Real Madrid want to buy.

Can't we convince him to sign a new contract so that we get more money when he leaves (like we did with Ronaldo the year before he left)

If he wants to go then fair enough. This is actually one of those times where moving to Madrid makes an awful lot of sense for the player in question. Don't think he particularly owes us anything given he kept us afloat for a large part of the season and is likely to get us a big transfer fee when sold.

it would be a shame though.

Would be extremely shit if he left this summer for a relatively small fee. Could've at least signed a renewal like Suarez so we got a bigger price for him.

We'd get way more than £20m.

He's into the last year of his contract. He's a £40M GK with 2/3 years on his contract. With one year left, I fear we wouldn't get too much more then £20M.

Well at least that's the funding sorted for the transfer list van Gaal received from that fan the other day.

Can't believe we're thinking about cashing in from selling when we should spend on players of De Gea's class in the first place.

What's the point of building a team if we're gonna ship all the crucial goods to Spain... Bloody hell, Woody needs to wake the feck up.

I wonder if the club might consider this if the Real offer is poor. With a year left of his contract, they'll try it on with regards to the fee.

No doubt if it came to two options:

1. Leave this summer for £20M; or
2. Leave next summer for a free.

I'd most defo choose option number 2. We could win the league and be challenging in Europe and he could be the difference. What's £20M to United? One season of DDG is worth a lot more.

Also, a year is a long time, the situation could change. Real might be forced into buying a keeper this summer who could be successful.

We simply have to hold onto him.

Agreed. Unless he pushes for a move, I'd rather forego the fee

I wouldn't be against it as long as De Gea's attitude stayed right.

He got the resources and the power. Surely we can match the contract needs. This should be secured a long time ago before sorting out Smalling's and Jones' contract.
He probably was offered everything but if DeGea says no then there's nothing we can do.
