I just don't see why he would move. Casillas will at least be there for another 2 years. Why get involved in the politics when Iker is concerned? I have full confidence he will stay

If he wants to go then fair enough. This is actually one of those times where moving to Madrid makes an awful lot of sense for the player in question. Don't think he particularly owes us anything given he kept us afloat for a large part of the season and is likely to get us a big transfer fee when sold.

it would be a shame though.

Loyalty works both ways. Did you watch his performances from when he came to what he is now? We played a key part in his development, so it is annoying if he is leaving.

He got the resources and the power. Surely we can match the contract needs. This should be secured a long time ago before sorting out Smalling's and Jones' contract.
He probably was offered everything but if DeGea says no then there's nothing we can do.
What Gambit said. I'm sure we've done everything in our power to convince him. Make him the best paid goalkeeper in the world, image rights etc. If he still wants to go to Madrid what are we supposed to do?

Hard to believe that people think that we will keep him if the offer is 20 million, well the offer will definitely be close to that and as good as he is I see absolutely no chance of us throwing away 20 million just to keep a player for one extra season. The important people at the club must have known about this for a while and if we have to get a replacement then we might as well get the guy in this year

meh.. it is really if they want him. Hazard will not be at Chelsea for more than another 2 years imho. Should the player have his 'head turned' by Madrid attention, he'll go sooner or later.
People actually entertaining the idea we'll sell Hazard.

He'll be our next club legend. Maybe we'd sell him at the end of his contract (which he just signed a couple of months ago and has to pay him huge wages) after we've won a couple more titles. By then he'd be worth an astronomical sum.

You'll have him for another 2 seasons, maybe 3 max before he heads to Madrid or PSG I reckon.

As long as the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are winning Champions League titles and Chelsea aren't, you'll be lucky to keep him if they come sniffing.

It won't sound funny if Real or Barca come calling. Thankfully for you, neither need him. Not till Real sell Bale anyways.

It's starting ;)

I doubt sorting out a contract for Smalling and Jones delayed anything in negotiations with de Gea

Not sure how clued up Daniel Taylor is, but if De Gea has his mind set on a move despite obvious interest shown by United's hierarchy in extending his contract, then there's nothing the club or Woodward can do about it unfortunately. In that case, selling him in the summer would be he best possible course of action IMO. Even in his last year under contract, De Gea should fetch somewhere in the region of £20 - 25 million (money isn't a big concern for Real as long as they get their target). That fee can then be reinvested in the squad, part of it for a young upcoming replacement like Loris Karius. Would be better than running his contract down, not getting our money's worth in terms of resale value, but still having to spend on another keeper (objectively speaking Valdes is not a very good medium and long term option).

I didn't know I could get physically sick just by hearing bad transfer news :(

We benefitted from his improvement though as we've had the best GK in the league for the last two seasons and would likely get a big fee from selling him. That seems about fair to me. Not sure what more you'd want from the guy really...

Can we ban those cnuts unitedreport. Their sensationalist headlines made some of us lose the shit and suddenly made us angry.

We may well wind up doing that for the summer, especially if they don't generate their own content but merely exist to retweet the work of other journos.

That's what they're like. Seen them get a few other things wrong before too, but eh they get the retweets/followers so they're not fussed.

It looks like the tweet that got everyone worked up has been deleted, what did it say? I gather from the reaction it was DDG related.

£20 is an appalling figure for what is pretty clearly the 2nd best keeper in the world, aged 24.

The atmosphere is very tense for Iker a long time ago. The club offered him all the contract to get rid of him. Although Ancelotti said the other day in press conference that Iker would be his keeper next year is obvious that is pure fantasy. I think that will be a soft exit as Guti or Raúl.

Might not be commensurate with his true value, but we don't have a lot in terms of negotiation leverage with just 1 year remaining on his current contract.

Michael Zorc on reported Manchester United interest in Hummels, "I can't confirm that"

Where their is smoke, their is a potential fire.

If Hummels sets his sights on moving to Old Trafford there should be no unreasonable obstructions when it comes to financial resources. You set your sights ? We will come and free you.
