De Bruyne is great talent and totally our 'type' of player - but talk about a position we don't need more options in.

De Bruyne is very wasteful, basically the opposite of how LVG has Mata playing. He will create, he will score goals, and he will give the ball away a lot

It's not nothing, clubs don't put offers like that, they discuss about it with the agent and the other club, if we really told them that we were willing to pay 80m and if we already offered Pogba 140k, then it's serious.

The interesting part is that Raiola transmitted the message, which means that he and Pogba are interested.

At the moment is nothing, obviously Raiola and Pogba are interested and maybe we may sign him in the summer, but at present it's Raiola

We need a CB, a RB, a CM and a lot of pace up front/out wide. If he doesn't fall into this category then no thanks.

but at present it's Raiola

That's the point, it's not Raiola, it's us telling Raiola that we want Pogba and that's us telling him to tell Juventus.
It's not like the usual United is thinking about 'X' or is exploring the idea of 'X'. Like it has been reported for Real Madrid or PSG, it's a direct contact.
And if i'm not mistaken he is still on Juventus books as a "negociator".

What's the difference in these new Pogba links and the usual crap?
The guy who these new rumours come from supposedly has the inside track on all things Juve. That's just what I'm getting from this thread. However the paper (La Stampa I think) was discredited by somebody in here. Basically theres no difference, just seems like paper talk. In either case, apparently it's for the summer anyway.

Just filler for a relatively quiet window in my opinion.

Agree. I recon going to be the quietist window for a long time?

Surprised we havent been linked with Dani Alves more, free agent in the summer, position we are crying out for a backup

Well there's not many WC defenders out there, and our current crop are usually incapable of playing a game of football, or not particularly good when they do.

And you say 'what's the point in going for an average player' then say we'd be idiots not to go for an average winger.

Average for utd, good enough for the best team in the league this year? Hmm

Sarcastic, getting 1 'exclusive' out of god knows how many ! this man lives off pure speculation, btw did we actually buy or even bid for Otamendi ?

Guillem Balague, for all of his cheese, speculation and previous false flags, is an incredibly well connected journalist with legitimate sources throughout the game. They all get it wrong, but Balague puts himself out there in a way others don't, or don't get the opportunity to do, at least. On the whole, he's worth listening to.

He's good entertainment but reports too many corridor conversations that don't get off the ground.

OK, so you are a Balague fan, I personally see him as person who uses a scatter-gun approach, you shoot so wildly you must hit something, I prefer a sniper, one shot, one result.

He's been doing interviews with the Ex-Real president and such. You don't get a 100% success rate in football transfers but he is pretty well connected on Spanish players.

 This place is mental.

Anyway, I'm no fan of Balague. I just think people can be too quick to shoot him down when it's absolutely certain he has a lot of contacts throughout the game, particularly in Spain.

He's not good enough for Chelsea either.

I can't understand why you would be complaining if we were in for Cuadrado when we've got Young and Valencia playing as wingbacks + Nani, Zaha and Lingard on our books. Who are you dreaming off, Ronaldo, Messi, Bale, Neymar, Hazard, Reus, Robben, Sanchez???
Ain't going to happen....Cuadrado is the best option we have. To say you can't buy top quality in January is BS and the talk of only buying playing if they are better than the players we currently have (improving selection) is exactly this, we should be in for him at all costs.

Don't get me wrong, good luck to him, I would love his job, talking to football 'people', players agents, the players, their parents etc must be fantastic, but the truth is that he is part of the 'Transfer Muppet Scene', (good name for a pop group), and these 'contacts' probably take full advantage of his status.

Agreed.

How do you know this?

Edit: Not doubting you, just curious.

Yep, Chelsea definitely don't have enough attacking midfield/ winger types: Salah, Schurrle, Willian, Ramires, Hazard and Oscar.

Though as others have stated, Cuadrado will be a terrific addition in the likelihood that Salah and Schurrle leave. I don't think Chelsea really need him, but when you have the option to sign a player of his quality and skill set, and you have the potential to stop others getting him, then why turn that opportunity down?

Not a massive fan of Cavani, but he can on the left, right and through the middle, and Van Gaal likes his versatile players.
Cavani ? yet another player that you would ordinarily build your team and tactics around, we have too many of them, whether its Rooney, ADM, Falcao, RVP, Mata, Fellaini or even Adnan, do we get players who can play a system, or do we get players and change the system ?

He's no better than Nani, just as frustrating. Why should we spend £30million on him if we could just recall someone of the same quality for nothing?

'You can't buy top quality' is valid because he isn't top quality.
