It's Marquinhos if nobody can be arsed to read the article.

I hope LvG doesn't dick around over Strootman. I get the impression this Roma president is a major pain in the ass. He clearly has a huge ego and loves the limelight and is going to use us, string us along and fleece us for him if he ever sells him.

Are those Pogba quotes actually real? I can't imagine someone saying they love another club whilst playing for another.

Either way sign him and Hummels no matter the cost .

How quickly fans have forgotten Ronaldo's hard on for Real, being his dream club & the media circus prior to him leaving!

For me Varane & Pogba would be , back bone of the team sorted for a long time.

Marquinhos would be a good signing I think, supposed to be really highly rated and definitely has potential. Haven't seen much of him since he went to PSG though. How's his injury record?

The couldn't hold on Benatia(Went to Bayren) near the end of the transfer window. If LVG wants Strootman then I can't see a problem.Italian clubs know they don't have the same pulling power any move over the 'big' leagues any more let alone the power to keep players.

Although I do miss having the top Italian clubs being a force in Europe.

If LVG wants The Stroot, he will get the Stroot, that is something that should not worry us.
Those two have a relationship that existed before Roma and it will exist after he leaves Roma too.

The Roma president seems like a clown, he said the same thing about Benatia and Benatia didnt leave for nearly the amount he was haggling for. He must think this is still the 90's when players actually wanted to stay in Italy.

:lol::lol::lol:

I've always wanted Strootman, thought he was a top player. But the muppet inside me is uber excited with the Pogba quotes.

Pogba is a wet dream of a buy!

I'm not saying we won't get him. All I'm saying is I think the presidents going to be a prick about it to make himself look better.

The Italian presidents are similar - mouthy as feck. Today I read an interview with Palermo's president saying that we're interested in Dybala but he won't sell until the summer. He also said that Dybala is worth more than 40 million euros and is the best attacker in Europe right now

Ok so, Varane, Hummels, Rues and Pogba another £130 million spent and the team set for at least 5 years of title challenging without a new signing

It's fine.

We have another very Pogba like player in Fosu-Mensah. Should be ready in a couple of seasons.

He obviously isn't the best but he does look potentially very good. Got a bit of a Suarez style about him.

He was fantastic the other night in the FA Youth cup. For me, he was by far the best player on the pitch that night.

That's what we need to be thinking of. If we are to spend another £150-200 million in the next 18 months, they have to be for players who will get us back in the European elite. As much as I like Herrera, it amazes me we were so desperate last year we were willing to play £40 million for him. In fact there was a chance we'd have paid £100 million for Herrera, Baines and Fellaini if the that night went according to plan. That is madness to me. If we are going to pay the big money, we need to bring in the big players.

Oh god it's Vidal all over again.

Player struggles for form following major knee surgery. Chairman's arse gets twitchy about the huge return on his investment he's about to lose. United's interest goes quiet so the Italian club release sound bites every week to keep it out there and alive.

*silence*
"Well, er, I can't believe you think we would sell STROOTMAN".
*silence*
"I mean, we've got STROOTMAN on a 5 year deal, we're not going to sell him"
*silence*
"we might sell STROOTMAN for the right price, but it's a lot money"
*silence*
"I'd just like to repeat and let it be known that we think STROOTMAN is a fantastic player and a key player in our squad"
*silence*
"Dammit, we know you want him United but we have to stress that STROOTMAN is only available for a lot of money please"

I heard it was closer to £55m after taxes.

A pretty bad one.

'At last the papers have stopped talking about Strootman, I don't want to sell him but would have to listen to big offers'

Says to me that he actually really does want to sell him which makes me wonder about his injury.

He's clearly not playing because they don't want to risk another injury which could interfere with transfer to United.

Does this mean they'll wait to sign him on a free, or his contract until the following summer?
