That Strootman could arrive this window but we face a battle to get Hummels.

"Kevin Strootman could arrive this transfer window but #MUFC face a battle to get Mats Hummels away from Dortmund," says @BenSmithBBC

Cheers. Not keen on either to be honest. I think we could do better than Strootman and while I was really keen on Hummels last summer, he has been awful so far this season and I would much rather the likes of Varane or Laporte.

Right back or left wing back should be our priority.

Shaw is not a left wing back and Rafael is injury prone. Something has to give. But how has Strootman looked since injury?

 Young, Shaw, Blind, Blackett. LB/LWB shouldn't be a priority at all.

Blind and Blackett are LWB? Even Shaw isn't.

Wing backs should usually be able to dribble past players and be creative. Valencia can at times and so can Young. But if we sticking with 3-5-2 then we need good wingbacks as they are pretty much key to the system.

It means.. stuff about something.

Seems it simply him stating he was at Old Trafford on Sunday and didn't walk out, was with Van Gaal after game etc. Pretty boring, ffs.

Anyone able translate?

Rumor was he stormed out of OT but he said don't believe everything you read and the other guy said Falcao was seen in the tunnel after the game, therefore didn't 'storm out'

That's my non Spainish speaking interpretation of it

 Better than nothing. Cheers mate!

Yeah this was confirmed by one the journalists earlier that Falcao was there and in the tunnel after the match ended. Someone trying to create trouble no doubt with all these Falcao stories. It's getting irritating.

I really want Varane here. I think he could be next in line with the world class CB's we've had here.

To clarify . @ FALCAO was at Old Trafford on Sunday , attended the game . He even saw with Van Gaal in the tunnel after the game
Couldnt leave the ground without letting Van Gaal have a piece of his mind. Does this mans unprofessionalism hold no boundries?

Not sure if Real will let him go but then again you never know with them.

I'd imagine he means following in the footsteps of Ferdinand and Vidic as one of the world class CB's that we have had.

Even if, and it is a huge if, Real Madrid were willing to sell, there would be a couple of more attractive clubs that would be in for him. I don't see any way you manage to sign him.

Like?

I'd definitely have Chelsea ahead of us as favourites. He's worked with Mourinho before and they are the best team in England at the minute. If Pep is interested then obviously Bayern would be more attractive. Maybe PSG too. He won't go to Barca and can't see him going to Italy. In terms of English clubs I would consider us his 2nd most likely destination. Chelsea will surely be in for him if he is available but there is no guarantee Bayern or PSG will. It's hardly that much of a long shot that if he was to become available he would join us. If hypothetically speaking Chelsea were the only one of the other three possible destinations in for him then we could show him that he will have a guaranteed place in the back 4, something Chelsea can't promise, and which Varane will probably play great importance on considering he is on the bench at Real. We are also a more prestigious club which is bound to count for something.

I just can't see how you can categorically rule out us signing him. This time last year everyone was assuming Shaw would end up at Chelsea based on the fact he grew up as a Chelsea fan. I'm not saying he will end up here (more than likely IF he becomes available he will go to Chelsea) but I don't see how anybody can rule out us signing him. Imagine if someone said 12 months that we would sign Di Maria? They would have been sectioned!

I don't know, he's already had a go at an attractive enough club, he wants and needs constant football if he does leave. Chelsea are probably the only other ones who can offer that and will probably compete with the amount we'd offer both Real and him.

Wasn't there something about Van Persie gets a 10m bonus if he stays on after next season, or something like that?

Not that we couldn't afford that, but it could make his place questionable if he hasn't proven his worth come the end of the season.

£10 million!? Surely bullshit.

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ve-manchester-united-this-summer-9874732.html

Manchester United are planning for life without Robin van Persie and look certain to part company with the Dutch striker in the summer with a year remaining on his current contract.

The 31-year-old former Arsenal star stands to land an additional £10 million in loyalty bonuses if he sees out his four-year contract at Old Trafford.

Seen it reported a few other places aswel, but not sure if there are any concrete sources.

He's already paid us back in his debt season. He won us the league lol

However if he doesn't pick it up by the end of the season then might as well look to sell him, but I can't see LVG selling his pal.

Loyalty bonuses are paid over the duration of a players contract so if he has a 10 million loyalty bonus then hes already been paid around 6.25 million of that 10 million. If we decide to sell him then we'll have to pay out the remainder of the bonuses but if he puts in a transfer request he loses the remaining money so that article doesnt make sense

Van Persie's loyalty bonus doesn't bother me in any way, tbh. We only paid Arsenal, what, 25 mil? I thought that was ridiculously cheap for a player of his quality, even one in the last year of his contract. Consider this 10 mil as the 'real fee'.
