I hope they do waste that money on him with FFP. Because they already got 3 good strikers, so won't really make a difference. Obviously he won't be as injured as them.

It makes absolutely no sense IMO, but I'd be delighted if they spent that much on a player who isn't significantly better than what they already have and therefore are limited again by FFP in the near future. He just went to Atletico six months ago for around 22 Million EUR, so why do City want to pay double that, their strikers won't be injured forever.

disappointing that there isnt more muppetry in this thread. Thought the media would have been busy linking us to every half decent center back in europe by now.

Atletico will be mad to let Mandzukic go and rely solely on Torres, but as they are not mad they won't do it (unless they can immediately get a better striker for the money quoted). But seems to be a non story tbh!

I doubt we are signing a CB let alone a top one anyway.
Yup, fully expect is not to strengthen the defence until the summer. We should be targeting the best and the best are playing at clubs in the CL.

Early days yet. We shall be muppeting hard next week. Patience.

I think it'll be a quiet muppet window personally. If we sign anyone it'll all happen quietly over the course of 2 or 3 days. Selling clubs are generally less keen to turn things into a saga in January and get the press speculating as it can be very disrupting mid season.

I know but around this time last year the Mata rumours started so let's cling to some hope that one big muppet target gets our juices going soon.

I expect it to be quiet too.

Certainly nothing like last time when Moyes was spotted all over Europe and we were trying to guess who he could possibly be scouting. Got worrying when he was at Burnley vs Blackburn.

I read an article or interview with, I think, Ogden where he said that Moyes was leaking the names of players like Kroos to the press and was keen to be seen to be in for top names in the hope it would give optimism to the fans over his future.

I kind of wish 2013-14 never happened. So many forgettable episodes from that season but I guess it was a lesson learned the hard way.

Just read on skysports that Milan are making Torres' loan move a permanent one and will then loan him out on Jan 5 to Atl. Madrid (no idea why Milan would wanna buy him and then loan him out as if he was a youth player!)

Odd one, but Cerci is supposed to go in the opposite direction on loan. So they're buying Torres to swap him for a few months with Cerci

By Milan's standards Torres is a youth player.

The mandzukic thing is weird. Absolutely nothing between him and dzeko yet city are panicking because everyone has injuries at the moment. That much money for him is ridiculous as well, he's good but he's not a great goalscorer or anything. Would be like negredo kind of.

Cant they just recall Negredo anyway? He's started a few matches now, not looking too bad
Wasn't that loan to Valencia with a compulsory buy at the end of the season clause? Not sure they can recall him, as it looks to me like a transfer that was used to circumvent FFP rules, to benefit City and Valencia.

It doesn't seem to benefit Valencia in any way if thats the case

it is too much, but he still is a quality striker. He is on a similar level to Dzeko maybe even a bit better. Offers more defensively, a tad faster and more mobile, isnt injured all the time and would fit in perfectly in the PL. After half a season, that would be weird to sell him, but they cant say no to that money. Selling him but getting Torres would be a mistake though. They should look for other strikers. Heard they want this other croatian striker, Kamaric i think.
Exactly. He isnt a profilic scorer but still scores a lot and offers lots of other things as a striker. Selling him to City and getting Kramarić who is a wc striker in the making imo would be a nice bussiness for Atlecico though.

They have a player which they didn't pay for.

One thats been injured most of the season and will be 29 when they are forced to pay a ridiculous amount for a player who had a good half season and then a poor half season. Its a terrible deal

The knives are out for poor Raf this week. I suspect a load of rumours regarding a new right back this month.

Going back to our feeder club I see? Think is I actually think they would sell him as well, especially when there are other areas of their squad that need strengthening badly. I would happily pay £20plus million for him if it meant us not having to play 5 at the back again....EVER.
