Here's a thought: let's turn off the "has recently suffered a potentially catastrophic injury" filter on player search our scouts have clearly been doing on FM.

Yeah and what happened? Vidal stayed.
And they wont exactly say, sure Strootman will leave, just name the price, will they?

Huh? Vidal stayed on, didn't he? I get what you mean, but that's a strange example.

This is the 3rd or 4th time they have felt the need to stay strootman isn't for sale but it's clear they will sell, just like benatia and Marquinhos.
Juve were going on and on in the summer about how much Vidal would cost But in my opinion if we made a bid for him, we would have gotten him.

I guess my example could have been clearer, but the parallels are there.

Strootman shouldn't be an option for Jan.

Let's see how he recovers from his injury. We don't need another injured player.
Exactly. We don't play enough games to rehab him back to fitness anyway. We've got far more pressing concerns than rehabbing another expensive player.

No idea why he'd make up such utter nonsense. £120m for Gareth Bale!? Jesus Christ, save us all.
Probably is BS and I doubt United will spunk that kind of money on him but in fairness he is a more consistent player than when he went to madrid so not a surprise if Real have raised their valuation of him to that much.

£120 milllion for Bale

£13 million a year wages x 4 years = £53 million - £120 million = £67 million pound deal. Still doesn't add up.

After the summer and realizing how much of a muppet Ed is, I wouldn't strike this rumor away as false reporting. Woody's been making a conscious effort to try and bring in big names to improve performance as well as drive the "Biggest Club in the World" talk and improve marketability ever since he said he doesn't like losing talent to Spain.

I think we had bid for him at the same time as Madrid, so us being interested in Bale does not seem that ridiculous. The question is whether Madrid want to sell him or not.

Apparently we outbid Madrid too by 5-8 million, I guess Madrid was Bale and Levy's first choice.

He's not exactly a shit player but Blind seems to bring that formation down a notch for me.

Its not like there is a Schwienteiger, Pirlo, Matic, Toure, Alonso available though.

Blind will be a more than capable successor to Carrick for us, he's great.
People seem to have forgotten how good he was for us pre injury. He doesn't have Carrick's passing range but he's still a very good and reliable player.

I think people underrate Blind much like Carrick when he first joined. Blind had a brilliant world cup, and can perform perfectly in three or four positions, I'd also argue he's our most intelligent player. I'm a big Blind fan.

Not that simple though. Roma is in a good position as he's contracted to them until 2018. Roma can pretty much block any transfer by pumping up the price tag, unless he has a release clause.

Roma will sell. They always sell eventually unless it is Totti or De Rossi. Every other star player they had they would sell if good offer came in.

True. Im in a tricky situation, would love strootman to stay in roma and on the other hand united would do good with him.

This is going to be the rumour that never goes away (until we sign him of course)

Yeah, I don't think we should be worried with any, really. Maybe James and Lingard I'd be pretty indifferent with, but the rest of those should be signed up come January.

I think James and Lingard are at the point where if they don't get in the mix by the end of this season they'll probably be looking for permanent moves, the one I am most concerned about is Pereira, I think he's our best CM prospect and I hope it's just the formality I think it is.

Periera has barely turned 18 this year, he's not in his 20s like those two.

Ẃith Torres going to Atletico could there be any truth in this one?

That's a weird one. They need cover with Aguero out injured (all the time it seems), but I've never really rated Mandzukic... especially not for that figure. Roughly the same amount as we'd have to pay to make Falcao's loan permenent. I know which striker I'd prefer.

I thought the Scousers were trying to bring Torres back? Is his move to Atletico all set?

yes, they are very reliable as far as i remember the last transfer periods. I would find it weird for that sum, but it wouldnt surprise me.
It's an awful lot for a player of Mandzukic's level but i guess that is what you have to pay if you want to get players from CL clubs in January.

Mandzukic deserves to be a starter, Atletico will go down hill if they rely on Torres as their main front man

it is too much, but he still is a quality striker. He is on a similar level to Dzeko maybe even a bit better. Offers more defensively, a tad faster and more mobile, isnt injured all the time and would fit in perfectly in the PL. After half a season, that would be weird to sell him, but they cant say no to that money. Selling him but getting Torres would be a mistake though. They should look for other strikers. Heard they want this other croatian striker, Kamaric i think.
