The article reads more like extrapolation than briefing. I do love Rafa like most United fans but his injury record is simply unacceptable. Coleman is an excellent player moving into his peak years too.
lol, what would you suggest we do about our RB problem then? We got no one from the acadamy good enough to take the spot and Rafael spends all his time on the treatment table, so nothing we can do but buy a RB and Coleman is the best available. No thanks.
There are other enough good fullbacks out there without spunking a solid amount for a player at a team who will try to rob us for every penny they can. Why can it not be a younger, versatile player who would be content to play half the season, in unison with Rafael? Somebody like Vrsaljko or Mario Fernandes, for example. Rafael is a very good fullback, people seem to forget this. I'm really not convinced by Coleman too, he has a great engine and does a lot going forward, but Everton have been shocking defensively this year, and Coleman has obviously played some part of that.lol, what would you suggest we do about our RB problem then? We got no one from the acadamy good enough to take the spot and Rafael spends all his time on the treatment table, so nothing we can do but buy a RB and Coleman is the best available.
25m for Coleman is a tad too much to be fair
26 is not that old. Coleman coulf easily gove us 5-6 years if quality service, and then maybe 1-2 years of service as a veteran, you know, experience and all that.Had no idea he's 26. Thought he was like 22. Suddenly £25million does seem a bit extravagant.
The knives are out for poor Raf this week. I suspect a load of rumours regarding a new right back this month.
No thanks.
Precisely why.It is cos he is Irish?
He'd be expensive but I could see a lot of pluses in signing Coleman.
1. He's certainly better than the likes of Clyne, even if Clyne is more versatile.
2. His attacking strengths make him very much a United type fullback as opposed to the defensively strong but limited going forward type.
3. If we're going to keep switching between fullbacks/wingbacks then Coleman is particularly well suited to us, much more so than Rafael.
4. He's entering his prime years and (with so many young players in the squad) maybe that's no bad thing?
That said, I have a policy of not believing anything Jackson says. These stories were bound to start popping up once Martinez denied Coleman would be leaving yesterday.
Isn't Alves available on a free this summer?
Yes, with the reason being that he's absolutely shite.
Piszczek or Danilo are very good realistic RB options too......but they would cost the same money like ColemanSurely, there's a foreign RB somewhere who's not overrated and overpriced like Coleman or Clyne?
Overpriced maybe, but they are both exceptionally talented players.Surely, there's a foreign RB somewhere who's not overrated and overpriced like Coleman or Clyne?
Oh, there's plenty.Surely, there's a foreign RB somewhere who's not overrated and overpriced like Coleman or Clyne?
Precisely why.
For that price, we should get Clyne. He's been better this season and is younger.
Coleman is significantly better than Clyne IMO.

Not every player from Southampton is crap.
