Yup.. Last thing we need is another crock CB..

Same goes to Hummels..

His injuries + our injuries are double negative, so he'd be fit all the time.
Unless two minuses weld together and we will get one big minus.

.... i am studying about welding at the moment, boring.

Not sure why we were ever in for Vermaelen in the first place. This latest news surprises no one.

He looks like a quasi-Dutch type player Van Gaal would like. Also, he would've been cheap and allowed us to go after the players in the Di Maria veign. I think Rojo was the better option in the end.

We dodged a bullet.

Has he even played that much to rack up that serious an injury.
6 months wow!

There does seem to be a severe dearth of real quality centre backs these days.
Is it because everything's faster these days? There's less physical contact allowed, and everything is weighted for the defenders?

Take this country, who is a top class centre back?

Terry & Cahill?
Terry has been in a lot of people's opinions close to the end for years now. Cahill will never be the level Terry was, yet that's probably the best combo in the league.

Kompany? Niggles and uncertainties have crept in this last year or so, not the powerhouse he was.

Liverpool? Skrtel is a bit of a liability at times, and Lovren shows £20m doesn't go a long way

Us? We have a bunch of nearly men who can't stay fit, and some untapped potential.

Arsenal? World cup winner Mertesacker, but massively susceptible to pace, whereas Kocielney can be a bit rash and can spend plenty of time out like now.

Makes you long for the Vidic/Ferdinand, Terry/Carvalho, Adams/Bould, Pallister/Bruce, Henchoz/Hyppia type solid combos.

According to a number of helmet on here, Terry has been in decline since 2009. Cahill will always be underrated as he doesn't have the reputation and joined from a two bob club in his mid twenties. Had he joined us at 18 and made the side maybe people would judge him differently.

Terry was in decline until Mourinho came in. Since they have played a deep back line, in a rigid formation where there isn't much space for Terry to cover and he has a whole lot of protection in comparison to a lot of other centre backs in the league. That doesn't mean he isn't very good at what he does mind, but there is definitely a lot of mitigating factors here which wouldn't be at play under most other managers.

He's a good player. His release says a lot more about Cardiff than it does him.

173 minutes of league football in 11 months, which is shocking given that Cardiff's midfield isn't particularly good.

Twitter thread 2 weeks before January, I was expecting something real juicy.

Its definitely Goldberg. No idea why he's sticking his nose in our business, but it may explain our recent injuries. The man booted Bret Hart's head in to the point of retirement. Imagine what he could do to poor Falcao.

Needs a new thread for the new muppet transfer season.

Why is a bloke named Christian Martin tweeting in Spanish? Do people think they automatically become 10x more reliable if they speak shit in a foreign language?

Strange, I rememeber watching him a few years ago in our youths and thinking he was something special and destine for a top, top club.
Leave the player analysises to me then, I sensed he was a nothing player very early on in his time with us.

He's 19. Plenty of talent and plenty of time. He has gone from the Championship to the Bundesliga. He's moved upwards, Cardiff have moved backwards.

I guess it shows just how much we actually understand of what makes a top player. There were times for our reserves i really thought he could make the step up but it proved to be a step to far. I guess a very talented 16 year old can become a average 19 year old
