Don't get the we don't need Vertonghen, we need top top defenders stuff. Who exactly are these top top defenders?

Srna from few years ago would be a good addition but right now no. I mean he could be a good short term fix but nothing more.
He decided to stay in Ukraine all these years which was a big mistake imo. he should have gone abroad years ago.

Saying all that it would be great to finally see a Croatian player in a United shirt.
If there's a chance of coming to United he would be crazy to turn it down. But I can easiy see him doing that...

Could be an option I suppose. It's strange as you say he didn't leave before now, what were his reasons?

Also, what's his injury record like

His reasons are he is a legend there already, a captain and loves the club and the town. He recently sent few tons of tangerines to the children in Donetsk. Players and players moved out but he stayed there.
I guess his moto is - better to be first in the village then last in town. Dont get me wrong Shaktar is a good club but I think he should have moved to a better league and I think he would thrive in the PL.

His injury record is very good, barely ever gets injured.

would massively welcome a bit of stability at the back, our full backs on a couple of occasions have been too deep and keeping people onside. Set piece taker as well, no? Anyway, I think Valencia would be a good addition in the midfield if he isn't always at RB. Would like to see some truth in this.

If I'm not wrong, he can play all the back 4 positions, especially both the full back positions.

If Mathieu can do the job at Barca then so can Srna. I don't care who we sign but we need a new first choice right back. I've lost my patience with Rafael.

He can play further forward as a right mid and a winger. Propably too late as from what I saw in Brazil he looked somewhat past it. Baffling that he hasn't played for any top club during his career to date. Tailor-made for Premier League especially.

Even if there aren't any top top defenders, it doesn't mean that we have to accumulate a bunch of shit ones. 1+1 is still shit, not 2 in this case.

Vertonghen is a good ball player, but a very very suspect defender.

Exactly, he has degressed over the years. He can do a job both in defense and attack but in the past his long balls were 'on the eyebrow' so to speak, every one of them was dangerous, now accurate long balls are few and far between and he usually dont go pass players, just waits for the pass so he can try a long ball in the box. Srna from few years ago would be a massive signing.
Nowadays Srna would be decent too but I'm sorry to see how he degressed and never went abroad from Ukraine.

Maybe playing at a higher level would bring back some of his best? Its a long shot but even if that doesn't happen, it's still a sensible signing, given our current second choice right back is Valencia.

Thanks for the info.

Cheers, I figured as much. It's honourable as I'm sure he had plenty of offers in his prime.
